"Unreal pants!" 5/31/2010
Helpful Review?   (3) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 686 Smarty Index
  • Pros:  Warm, removable liner, 3 pairs of pants in 1!
  • Cons:  nil ,
  • Pant Fit:  Too big
  • My Size:  L
  • Fits Like:  XL
  • Description:  Great length and pretty baggy which i like but the waist was a bit loose. Once i pulled the velco adjusters tight they were fine

Experience:   I am 187cm (6'2) and 85 kg (190lbs) with a 33 inch waist. I found these to be a perfect fit for length and room to move in whilst riding but being an American sizing were a bit big in the waist. All good once i tightened up the velco adjusters though. Huge waterproof rating which is great if you spend a lot of time on your arse or in crappy weather. There are a lot of great storage pockets for phones, wallets, MP3 players ect. with extra folds, velcro and push studs to protect whatever your carrying and to protect it from the elements. The inbuilt trackies are unreal! So frigging comfy! They come with a drawstring to so they too can be adjusted to suit. Boa integration is a great idea so you don't need to keep undoing your snow guards. I actually can't fault these pants and for $115 US you couldn't find this quality and fit in a pant here in Oz for under $300

"Can't Go Wrong" 9/19/2010
Helpful Review?   (2) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 686 Smarty Index
  • Pros:  Liner provides warmth and padding,
  • Cons:  Slightly heavy with liner,
  • Pant Fit:  Too big
  • My Size:  XL
  • Fits Like:  XXL
  • Description:  Slightly long, baggy

Experience:   Fully taped seams, leg vents, boa compatible and a stash pocket in the belt loop means you're looked after all day with 686. The zippers are durable and easy to use although you'll want to be a bit careful when attaching\detaching the smarty liner. The liner can be used as day-to-day trackies, as others have mentioned.

"Los mejores pantalones del mercado 686!" 6/7/2010
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 686 Smarty Index
  • Pros:  Son dos pantalones en uno , Comodo, Confortable
  • Cons:  no le he encontrado todavia,
  • Pant Fit:  Just right
  • My Size:  M
  • Fits Like:  M
  • Description:  Calentito, confortable y comodo

"The name says it all" 5/26/2010
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 686 Smarty Index
  • Pros:  Warm, Inner Liner can come out, Adjustable waist
  • Cons:  Inner Liner zip to the shell is annoying,
  • Pant Fit:  Just right
  • My Size:  L
  • Fits Like:  L
  • Description:  Just right

Experience:   For Australian ski conditions, I generally take the liner out. But for Japan on those cold days the liner is awesome. The cut is just right for me and it's just baggy enough to layer comfortably. I am 192cm & 75kg, the leg length is just right and I can put on a few kilos before the waist is snug. I'd recommend this for anyone with a slim to normal figure.

"Sick pants!" 4/8/2010
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 686 Smarty Index
  • Pros:  Super warm, super dry, cool liner, nifty pockets,
  • Cons:  Can't think of any!,
  • Pant Fit:  Just right
  • My Size:  M
  • Fits Like:  M
  • Description:  Perfect

Experience:   I bought these pants a few weeks ago because they were on sale and my old pants were getting beat up and they were too large for me anyway. And I have to say, they're one of my best investments to date! Not only are they extremely warm and dry, but they come with a removable inner liner that can be used as a thermal, or can be taken out and used as every day pants! And with the 70% off sale that's going on right now, you'd be letting yourself down if you're in need of a good pair of pants and didn't pick these up! Do it!

"Very good pants" 2/12/2012
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (1) No

  • Name: 686 Smarty Index
  • Pros:  Material, Comfort, Waterproof
  • Cons:  Inner liner isnt held in place,
  • Pant Fit:  Just right
  • My Size:  M
  • Fits Like:  M
  • Description:  a bit tight at the waste, but overall good

Experience:   These pants were a great upgrade from my old Columbia snowboard pants. The material is much thicker and seems very durable. Bought these from a member on trusnow and can't complain. Very stylish, warm, and pockets everywhere. My 686 jacket powder skirt did ride up on these pants, using the hooks. I think my next time out I will not use the hooks provided and just let the anti skid material do the work as it has in the past.

"Best Pants I've Ever Owned" 12/17/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 686 Smarty Index
  • Pros:  3 Pants in 1, Very Warm, Steezy
  • Cons:  Could be a little big for some,
  • Pant Fit:  Just right
  • My Size:  L
  • Fits Like:  L
  • Description:  Length and waist seen a little big but the velcro adjusters fix that up just fine.

Experience:   Where do I even start with these. Probably the best pair of pants I've owned. Ventilation works great, the removable fleece liner is amazing. Keeps you warm on the mountain and keeps you comfortable when your lounging around. Lots of pockets throughout the pants. I can't find anything wrong with these so far. Highly Recommended
