"Nice for spring, but they're gonna get soggy." 4/19/2010
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 686 Summit Insulated
  • Pros:  comfortable fit, mostly waterproof, great grip
  • Cons:  gets soggy after a few hours,

Experience:   I took these up on a 54-degree (at base) day at Meadows this weekend, and they certainly served their purpose. They kept my hands dry pretty well for the first part of the day, and didn't leave me feeling overheated (as I'm certain my Burton gore mitts would have). But by about 2-3pm, the waterproofing had finally been breeched, and they were just soggy from then on out. The textured grippy material is also pretty thick. Good for durability, bad for dexterity. I couldn't really hit buttons on my iPod shuffle as well with these as I could with my mitts, believe it or not. I do like them (especially at 70% off) but they certainly would have benefited from the addition of Gore-Tex.

"Looks Tight, but is tight" 4/17/2010
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (1) No

  • Name: 686 Summit Insulated
  • Pros:  shaped like a hand, no really, looks good ,
  • Cons:  These gloves run small at least a full size,

Experience:   Looks great, feels great, good materials, fits real well and allows hand to relax into a natural position. Downside is these gloves are small. I have been know to crack jokes about my little girlie wrists, and I like a good roomy glove so I ordered large. But they are simply not large, they only just fit me, there is no room for guards and they are a little tight on my wrist. I can wear them so ....

"solid pair of gloves" 6/14/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 686 Summit Insulated
  • Pros:  look nice and trendy, comfortable, warm
  • Cons:  inner lining feels a bit loose, palm makes a click noise when i curl fingers,

Experience:   i got my first review for these gloves flagged as spam so i'm writing another one. i ordered these gloves about 2 months ago and wore them in the snow once and just randomly tried them on in my room a few other times. i really like these gloves for many reasons. i have the grey ones and to me they look killer. also the glove doesn't reach up the wrist very much which some people might not like because it's maybe easy to get snow up around your wrist but i think they feel very secure and snug around the wrist. however there are two things i find irritating about these gloves. firstly the inside lining of these gloves don't seem to be attached to the gloves apart form the opening at the wrist which means that when you pull your hands out the gloves, its very easy to pull the lining out as well which could be a real pain to have to fix each finger of the lining back into the appropriate finger of the glove. the second slight issue i have is that the material the palm of the glove is made from(leather maybe??) makes an actual click noise when i curl my fingers which is weird. all in all i really like these gloves and the two small issues i have with them wont stop me from wearing them.

"Magnificos guantes" 5/25/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 686 Summit Insulated
  • Pros:  Muy bonitos, Excelente impermeabilizacion, Muy comodos
  • Cons:  Un poco cortos,

"alright" 5/21/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 686 Summit Insulated
  • Pros:  not hot,
  • Cons:  low on features, not very waterproof for gloves,

Experience:   These are decent spring gloves, in that your hands don't get too hot, but that's about it. Very low on features (no vents, no wrist leash, no goggle wipe). I'm used to goretex gloves I guess, because while 15K waterproofing is fine for jackets, and generally for pants, it doesn't last long for gloves. Unlike most 686 stuff, these run pretty small. I do NOT have big hands, but the Large is pretty snug on me, though it does fit. I wear M in most gloves.
