  • Name: Art Of Flight Snowboard DVD
  • Pros:  Photography, Scenery, Riding
  • Cons:   Voice overs,

Experience:   This film makes my top 10. Not because it's the best snowboarding film, but because it's just entertaining and shows a different perspective on a lot of typical movies. It breaks a mold from the typical snow flick. I enjoy a lot of these films for various reasons. The cinematography really stands out along with the editing. It's definitely worth the purchase. Although watching it at one of their tour venues will blow you away.

"Brain Farm Delivers once Again" 10/12/2011
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Art Of Flight Snowboard DVD
  • Pros:  Great riding, new zones, new tricks, many riders, not always centered around rice, cinematography, big mountain freestyle, not just a bunch of corks
  • Cons:  could've added bonus material riding to video,

Experience:   Without a doubt, this was one of the most anticipated snowboard films of all time. Since Jan-Feb 2011, this thing has been hyped up beyond the max, and the first question is whether or not it lived up to the hype. The answer depends on what you were looking for. For example, some people thought it was going to be Rice and crew doing a bunch of double and triple corks with a bit of big mountain riding in AK and other locations. If that was the case, it did not quite live up to the hype. But if you were looking for a film that opened new zones, involved new tricks, and just pushed riding to the max, then this is a great film. It also has many of the favorite spots in Jackson from TITA, as well as new ones. It depicts both the successes and disappointments of snowboarding, and involves several great riders like Rice, Jackson, Lago, Muller, Lando, and others sending it on the hill. Also, it pushed the limits of big mountain riding to overdrive. For example, Rice does a 720 in the middle of a first decent, and does a huge backflip off a 50 foot cliff in the middle of his line. One issue that many people had is that there was too much failure and not enough riding. Here is the deal, if you BUY the dvd and don't just torrent, you can see a bunch of more solid riding in the bonus material as well as the cable jib that everyone was bitching about. It also shows individual riding segments from Lago, Lando, Eero, DCP, Rice, and Muller as well as others that weren't in the main film. And they do include riding in the Nelson segment that was the avalanche trip failure in the main film. Overall, Brain Farm pushed it over the top with this film, and I cannot wait for the next one to come out.

  • Name: Art Of Flight Snowboard DVD
  • Pros:  awesome cinemotagraphy , locations,
  • Cons:  soundtrack could be better, missing parts from the trailers,

Experience:   this movie was like an episode of planet earth mashed up with snowboarding. the cinematagrophy was out of this world, with some of the most beautiful locations. the riding in this video was also amazing, but i felt that this video was lacking in something, it may have just been hyped up too much, or it could have been the soundtrack selection but i thought thats it thats all was a bit better. one other thing that disappointed me was the lack of grinding across the lift line that part made the trailer and they didnt include it.

"Sequel Please!" 10/20/2011
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (1) No

  • Name: Art Of Flight Snowboard DVD
  • Pros:  Angles, Places, Riders

Experience:   This movie is definitely on my favorite snowboarding movies list. Ive probably seen it at least 10 times already. Its got awesome riders, sweet locations (Padagonia was insane), and in my opinion great music. It was like most snowboarding movies which are just nothing but riding or bs it was a good combo of riding while also allowing you to see into the lives of these riders. How much they do just to hit these slopes. Very extreme, very on the edge, totally worth the money.

"Art of Flight left me wanting" 10/20/2011
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Art Of Flight Snowboard DVD
  • Pros:  Cinematrography, Helmet cams, Chopper cams

Experience:   I loved That's It That's All. I think I loved this more. We had a viewing with the kids... yeah, some of us have kids... and while the cinematrography is truly amazing, what really stood out for us was the promotion of adventure for adventures sake. Not every locale was stellar pow. There wasn't any urban riding and very little park. Also, there wasn't much jackassery which is so typical of skate and snowboard videos featuring young male riders. The riders let their riding speak for them, and that is what I want my kid to see.

"Not like all the other movies" 10/20/2011
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Art Of Flight Snowboard DVD
  • Pros:  Shooting Locations, Style of the Cinematography , Music

Experience:   After watching this movie a few times now I can tell you that it is not like all the there snowboarding movies out there. The style that they take to AoF seems much more like a documentary than a balls to the wall type of movie. For this reason, I thoroughly enjoyed it. The cinematography in this is just amazing for that reason alone this deserves a watch. I hear a lot of people complaining about how it was too slow or how there was too much talking or there's no reason to tell me about all the problems that can/went wrong. All of that provides depth and color to this movie, it provides background and shows that there is much more than just picking up your board and flying down the mountain. There is much preparation, caution, and time that goes into the trips they do and I believe part of this movie was to convey that it is not just a hobby for them, but it is a lifestyle. It is part of their life and they approach it like their life is on the line every time they go out, which it is. In my opinion. Buy it. Watch It. Have a new perspective on the sport we love.

"T Rice and friends slay it once again" 10/13/2011
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Art Of Flight Snowboard DVD
  • Pros:  T Rice, Brain Farm,

Experience:   Picked up the 2 disc collectors edition a few days ago and I've already watched this movie 3 times. T Rice and friends hit some huge features and some untouched terrain. I wish Jeremy Jones would have had more parts, but I guess he's getting too old for the big features. Anyways, this movie is totally savage and even if you aren't a snowboarder you will love this movie. Stunning visuals, great camera work, and a lot of blood sweat and tears put into producing this movie from T Rice and friends.

"Not terrible, but not as great as it could have been" 10/13/2011
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Art Of Flight Snowboard DVD
  • Pros:  Nicolas Müller and Jeremy Jones, fantastic cinematography, good music
  • Cons:   voice-overs, disjointed narrative flow, missing parts that were announced in trailer

Experience:   I was really looking forward to watching The Art of Flight because I was thinking that it would be That's It, That's All part 2. And in many ways it is exactly that: this movie is still pretty epic. All in all, though it just doesn't exude the same sort of awesomeness that TITA did. My favorite bits were Nicolas Müller (who is crazy nuts, and in a good way) and Jeremy Jones' parts. The filming in this movie is great overall. It's nice that they spent the presumably large Red Bull budget on choppers. They managed to capture some really stellar shots. You won't be disappointed by the visuals, the cinematography is amazing. I really liked the music too, it's similar to TITA, so if you liked that you'll probably find the auditory experience in AoF good too. Less good: Rice's grating voice overs. There were so many of them and they sounded incredibly scripted. Had they been more off the cuff, I'm sure they wouldn't have distracted so much from the great boarding action. I also didn't enjoy having to watch the guys do stupid ish like burning stuff for 10 minutes. Aside from that, they announced some very cool things in the trailer (grinding ON a lift line? AWESOME), that didn't make it into the final cut... A decision that I can't understand at all. Overall AoF is still very watchable, it just falls quite a bit short of what it could have been and that, understandably, is disappointing. I think there's better out there. If you really like Rice and his friends, then feel free to still pick it up.

  • Name: Art Of Flight Snowboard DVD
  • Pros:  cinematograhphy, great snowboarding, locations

Experience:   as someone who rarely watches snowboarding movies, i thoroughly enjoyed TAoF. Compared to the 2-3 snowboarding flicks i've seen, this blows them away by far, and rightly so considering the money they spent making it. Epic AK opening just blows your mind, followed by what many people say are the most disappointing parts of the movie when the crew heads to south america. personally i think these parts were very interesting and showed another side to snowboarding that the general public doesn't get to see. Revelstoke and the ending with Jeremy Jones is incredible. This is the best movie about snowboarding i've ever seen.

"Brain Farm did a good job!" 10/12/2011
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Art Of Flight Snowboard DVD
  • Pros:  filming/shooting , editing, scenes/music
  • Cons:  did not meet expectations,

Experience:   So yes, finally it happened. The Art of Flight came out after long months of waiting. First of all I should say that Curt Morgan and Travis Rice is a great symbious of artist and sportsmen, who love and live in a same lifestyle. Separately I would like to say about the spots: British Columbia, Patagonia, Chile/Argentina, and others - so different so unbelievebly beautiful. Different snow conditions, different mounts, different riding styles of riders. In combination with great music all this looked really amazing and make me excited about the new season coming. Brain Farm has great equipment to make such movies: cameras, helicopters and very talanted pilots who managed to do those crazy things. The quality was really awsome, but unfortunalety i felt the trailer much more exciting. They didn't show Austria and Romania (as promised in trailer), many shots are missing which looked really nice. But still I have to admit that this movie is really awsome, it now stands in one row with TITA. Reccomend to watch not only those who is into the snowboarding, but those who just like high quality documentalism.
