08 Bataleon Snowboard The Jam

Simple design with some chick looking up at you with C.O.Ps, or Aviators, whatever you wanna call those glasses.

So yeah... uhh... Just get this one. It will do it all for you. WE could have named it " The Doitall" or "The Onedeckquiver" but we thought that The Jam would sound better. As in jammin', you know. This board is super responsive, yet Triple Base provides plenty of forgiveness. What more is there to say really? Freddy Mercury ust to say: "I want it all and I want it now"-hmmm, that sounds kinda gay. But hey, it's okay to be gay in Norway, so let's not be homophobic here.....

Base color may very.

"Great Off-Piste" 1/4/2011

  • Name: Bataleon The Jam
  • Skill:  Intermediate
  • Use:  Off Trail,Powder,Ungroomed
  • Pros:  Quick Turns, Smooth Edge To Edge, Good Float For Camber
  • Cons:  Below Average Edge Hold, Short Effective edge,

Experience:   Bataleon's Triple Base Technology has some downsides, but those issues can be forgiven because they have their upsides as well. This board has a shorter than average effective edge, so it sacrifices high-speed edge hold on big carves for agility and quickness when it comes to making turns in the steep and bumpy. The TBT makes it almost impossible to just 'check' an edge or put light pressure on it at low speed, but it makes for very smooth, rolling transitions from edge to edge at high speed. You get better powder float than a cambered board without sacrificing all of it's stability. The edges being upturned really help make it catch free on boxes and rails. It's not detuned at all, the contact points are actually lifted up off of the snow. This also helps it spin nicely, and makes it fast when you point it straight and ride flat because there is less contact with the snow. This board won't replace my longer cambered board for groomers and high-speed carving, but when there's a little bit of fresh snow and I want to ride something bumpy or full of trees, this will be my go-to board. Get yourself a Bataleon Jam if you like getting off of the groomers and out of the park because that's where it excels, and it'll take care of business on the cruisers and the boxes when you need it to.

"Great edgehold, a bit sketchy on flats" 1/14/2011
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Bataleon The Jam
  • Skill:  Intermediate
  • Use:  Groomed,High Speeds,Powder,Ungroomed
  • Pros:  Great edgehold, Quick like a bunny, Smooth edge-to-edge transitions
  • Cons:  sketchy in the flats,

Experience:   I had the Bataleon Jam 161.5w board. Due to the TBT, it rides a bit differently than most traditional snowboards, both cambered and reverse camber. The triple-base technology makes edge-to-edge transitions smooth and seamless, as opposed to the traditional on-edge, flat, on-edge feel of a regular snowboard. I actually prefer the latter, so decided to get rid of this board. Despite some harping I've heard, this board was great on ice and steeps, able to hold an edge under bulletproof ice conditions. It was also great in the pow, with tons of float. One notable downside is it's performance in the flats. You really, really need have your edge engaged, and deeply, or this board will buck and send you on your ass in a hurry.

"Good board for the park rats" 2/23/2009
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Bataleon The Jam
  • Skill:  Intermediate
  • Use:  Jumps
  • Pros:  Durable, lightweight, Great value

Experience:   Fun board. Poppy, easy to press. I use this board to learn stuff on, although it is still very possible to catch an edge on. This board gets a tad shaky when going fast, and doesn't hold as good of an edge as my Rider's Choice (granted, this is to be expected). The contact points are detuned so turning is a tad different - the turn doesn't really grip until you're at more of an angle, or I'm just not used to detuned boards as much.
