"bern watts matte yellow helmet 2012" 8/20/2012
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Bern Watts EPS Snowboard Helmet
  • Pros:  Looks sweet, brim, lots of vents if you get hot
  • Cons:  Trusnow did not have the size/color I wanted, I had to buy from another site (no TS points), yellow is bright and looks like a construction hat

Experience:   I got this helmet in yellow and, as a previous reviewer stated, removing the liner makes a big difference in size. Until now, I have only used protec helmets, but the Watts feels much lighter and has much better ventilation. That's important to me because I get hot easily. The first size I tried fit well with the liner in, but when this was removed the helmet felt too big and clunky around my head. I board in Tahoe mostly and I rarely get cold to where I need a liner. I ordered a size smaller and it fits much better. I also tried it on with my balaclava (sp?) and it fits better than with the liner. the sink fit is sweet and it looks much lower profile than either of my protec helmets. I put the yellow color as a con, but I actually like it. My friends don't have trouble spotting me on the hill.

"EPS Watts" 3/2/2014
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Bern Watts EPS Snowboard Helmet
  • Pros:  Lightweight, All season,

Experience:   Can't go wrong with Bern. Affordable and top quality. It's a great all season lid. If you like cycling in the warmer seasons, remove the winter kit lining and button up the summer kit and this is great for mountain biking, bmx, urban/commute cycling, as well as skateboarding. This is a do it all lid that looks great. EPS Watts with the winter kit keeps your head warm and well protected. Goggles fit perfectly. This is my favorite helmet, along with the R.E.D. Mutiny.

Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Bern Watts EPS Snowboard Helmet
  • Pros:  Awesome fit, Looks good, Comfortable
  • Cons:  Holes let in snow and rain but , Can't wear fish bowl goggles ,

Experience:   I got this helmet and the misses at the time got a BERN as well. Awesome helmets, so much so my two mates one had a PRO TEC and the other had a RED we have now converted the to the BERN. It's save the head a few times now, I'll be buying another BERN for sure. Let's be honest this helmet looks pretty dope on, so you won't be sacrificing any steez and your mum will be please your wearing a helmet!!!

"+1 for Bern" 2/26/2012
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Bern Watts EPS Snowboard Helmet
  • Pros:  Extremely light, padding doesn't get in the way, Ends the ugly helmet stereotype
  • Cons:  A little small so get a size above,

Experience:   I watched the Moving Forward movie about an head injury Danny Toumarkine had that kinda scared me. I wanted to get a helmet after that but didn't want anything that would feel heavy or uncomfortable cause that just messes with my head when I'm snowboarding. Anyways this reached all my requirements for a helmet but it was a little smaller than I expected so I had to exchange it for a size bigger. Other than that great and pretty inexpensive helmet.

"They need to make XXL" 2/3/2012
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (1) No

  • Name: Bern Watts EPS Snowboard Helmet
  • Pros:  Low Profile,
  • Cons:  Too Small,

Experience:   I tried this bad boy on at REI last night. I've heard good things about Bern and wanted a low profile helmet for my big head. I was a little shocked to find that their XL only fits up to a 7 1/2 hat size. I know I have a huge head at 7 3/4, which is a little abnormal, but plenty of people have 7 5/8. They really need to make a larger one in XXL or reconsider the sizing. I would rate 5 stars, but it doesn't fit. Other than that the quality is up to par and I like the brim.

"Solid Helmet" 1/25/2012
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Bern Watts EPS Snowboard Helmet
  • Pros:  Protects Your Dome!,
  • Cons:  Hot,

Experience:   I have this helmet with the built in audio and I love it! It's definitely protected me on a few occassions and it has held up very well. The lining is really warm so on hot days you may want to take it out or else it can get a bit too toasty. It looks good and fits well with my Giro Station goggles which was another plus. Bottom line: protect your head and invest in a helmet and if you do, invest in this one.

"Favorite Helmet" 1/11/2012
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (2) No

  • Name: Bern Watts EPS Snowboard Helmet
  • Pros:  Looks Great, Fits Great and Comfy, Keeps Warm

Experience:   Had this helmet for a while. Fits like a dream and I don't even notice it being on. It also fits my face with Electric EG2 goggles. Some of the other helmets are lighter, but feel cheaper and like they don't have enough padding. The Bern Watts is a happy medium. The ear muffs definitely keep you nice and warm.

"Bern." 1/11/2012
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Bern Watts EPS Snowboard Helmet
  • Pros:  Fits just right., ear covers are warm.,

Experience:   Pretty much this helmet passes all expectations I could possibly have for a helmet. It is the most durable and comfortable helmet I have ridden so far. Unlike most other helmets, the Bern does not have a break away ear flap system that inevitably falls apart after a year of use. Instead, the Watts helmet, along with most of Bern's other helmets use the snap-in knit ear covers which will keep you cozy on the coldest days. Also if you have a rather large head like myself, any other XL helmet makes me look like I have the biggest head on the planet. The Bern doesn't. Pretty much any flaw you can find in a helmet cannot be found in this one.

"Great helmet" 1/7/2012
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Bern Watts EPS Snowboard Helmet
  • Pros:  Warm, Light, Comfortable
  • Cons:  Size difference when liner removed,

Experience:   Great helmet, light and comfortable, fits with most goggles well, and keeps your head warm too. However, while it's supposed to be adaptable to different seasons by removing the liner, the helmet is a lot looser when the liner is removed. I suppose this could be easily remedied by wearing some non-winter hat with the helmet if one wanted to wear this to the park in the summer.

Comments & Questions

julius77
Completely agree. I had to return my first helmet because it fit great with the liner, but I usually leave out the liner as I get hot easily. I returned it for a smaller size.
