"The epitome of ergonomic innovation, the Burton [ak]™ Hover Jacket is our toughest, highest performance jacket and a favorite of shred legend Terje Haakonsen. Everything from collar shaping to pocket and stitch placement has been engineered to integrate seamlessly with your actions. Built with professional mountain guides in mind, we wrapped the entire package in the unstoppable strength and waterproofing of a 70 denier GORE-TEX® Pro Shell fabric. RiRi AQUAzips and minimized GORE-SEAM® taping eliminate entry points for pesky moisture particles, while LinkZIP™ connects to any Burton [ak] pant for total coverage during your baptism in the bottomless."

"Makes life less stressful" 12/2/2011
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Burton AK 3L Hover Snowboard Jacket Men's
  • Pros:  Waterproof not water resistant, wind proof, lifetime guarantee
  • Jacket Fit:  Just right
  • My Size:  S
  • Fits Like:  S
  • Description:  Fit

Experience:   I say if you want a shell this is the way to go. It's got a lifetime guarantee so if you ever get wet gore-tex will replace it for you or fix it. You stay dry and never get wind chills and on cool days you pretty much wear a shirt and this and you're set. It's light weight, shell. Pockets are good, pass pocket is good too. Everything is pretty much standard. There is no mesh for the vents tho. After owning gore-tex i pretty much depend only on gore-tex unless i know it's like spring time and i want to changed up my fashion.

"AK 3L Hover " 2/28/2011
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Burton AK 3L Hover Snowboard Jacket Men's
  • Pros:  Waterproof and windproof, Nice baggy fit, Built in face mask
  • Cons:  No insulation, Too little pockets, Hood is a bit small
  • Jacket Fit:  Just right
  • My Size:  M
  • Fits Like:  M
  • Description:  Nice fit without being overly baggy. Sleeves a bit long.

Experience:   I wasn't too impress at first....there's no insulation, less pockets than my other burton jackets, the hood was small and cannot be detach. However, I thought the look and fit of this jacket was awesome and it's super lightweight. There were as many cons as there were pros and with that said, I couldn't justify why I'm paying so much for this jacket. Later, I decided to run this jacket under the faucet to test how it would hold up in wet conditions and instantly justified the price tag. The running water from the faucet couldn't penetrate the jacket!!! Water slipped right off and the jacket was completely dry....with this jacket you are guaranteed to be DRY.

"Fantastic waterproofing, rough texture" 1/17/2011
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Burton AK 3L Hover Snowboard Jacket Men's
  • Pros:  uber-waterproof, more breathable than 2L GoreTex, lots of pockets
  • Cons:  jacket is unlined- texture is roughish, open pit zips, not mesh-lined, spendy
  • Jacket Fit:  Just right
  • My Size:  L
  • Fits Like:  L
  • Description:  Typical Sig Fit: baggy but not gangsta

Experience:   I found the material to be somewhat stiff and uncomfortable, and the 3L GoreTex process means that no liner can be added to the jacket. This also means no mesh-covered pit zips; they're completely open. Normally I'll have my pit zips opened if I start warming up, but with the Hover, doing that means you're going to get snow all over you pretty easily, thereby negating the utility of the 3L GoreTex waterproofing. On the plus side, the additional breathability of 3L GoreTex means that you're somewhat less likely to need to vent. Additionally, the material is a good bit stronger, and much more resistant to snags if you ride through the trees. Since I'm in Portland and also wear my riding jacket as my daily jacket, I put more of a premium on comfort and opted for the 2L Stagger instead.
