Sierra Says: The Axel is Burton's top freestyle-specific women's boot. Blending an average-to-narrow fit with a medium-soft flex and Speed Zone lacing system, this boot is super versatile and can be enjoyed inside or out of the park. The Articlating Cuff on the Shell provides a smooth, consistent flex while B3 Gel and EST Optimized Sole create a nice blend of cushioning and board-feel. We feel the Axel will be best enjoyed by the experienced freestyle rider.

Burton Says: To make a boot this light, most companies sacrifice durability and rideability in exchange for mere ounces. For us, compromise isn't an option. The hyper-mobility of a soft yet supportive flex, potent cushioning, and incredible simply lacing, this boot has everything, including and EST midsole designed to bring you even closer to the action.

"Buy these boots if you want quarter-sized blisters" 9/30/2009
Helpful Review?   (2) Yes    (2) No

  • Name: Burton Axel Womens
  • Pros:  You don't have to lace up the boots, Relatively light , Looks nice
  • Cons:  Very narrow ankle area that pinches you, Boot did not fit correctly,
  • Fit:  soft
  • Flex:  soft, mid
  • Shoe Size:  8
  • Boot Size:  7.5

Experience:   I have been riding for a while and decided to invest in the Burton Feelgood, ICS bindings and of course the Axels. The first time, I put on these boots, they felt super uncomfortable but I thought it would pass and the boot would mold to my feet eventually. By the end of the day (I rode 8am-4pm), I had blisters the size of quarters on both my feet. I then learned that I was suppose to get them heat fitted. So I went to Sierra Snowboards on the way home to heat fit them. The boots did not get any better but I thought it would eventually get better. BOY WAS I WRONG. I still have scars on my feet because of these boots because I rode at least 3 times a week, the blisters were extremely painful. I don't think I have weird feet so I don't think my case was atypical. So if you're in the market for boots, unless you're a masochist, I would not suggest the Axels.

"Nearly Perfect!" 12/15/2010
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Burton Axel Womens
  • Pros:  breathable, flexible, cushioned
  • Cons:  pinches pinky toe, interior glove strap is slightly bulky, little too flexible
  • Fit:  mid
  • Flex:  mid
  • Shoe Size:  7/8 womens
  • Boot Size:  7.5/8

Experience:   These were great on Mt. Hood! I took em out this summer and they were absolutely awesome! although they did needed some wearing in, they worked pretty well, unfortunately my pinky toes soon went numb?? and they were a little too flexible and if i tried tying them tighter, my circulation wouldnt be that great.. BREATHABLE BOOTS!!! Thanks for the great service and quick shipping!

  • Name: Burton Axel Womens
  • Pros:  Warm , Comfortable, Light Weight
  • Fit:  mid
  • Flex:  soft
  • Shoe Size:  8

Experience:   These are the first boots I have purchased and I am very pleased. After spending 3 days in a row on the mountain my feet feel like nothing happened. I was even night riding at 18 degrees with moderate snow showers and never had cold or wet toes. Great boots!

":)" 5/5/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Burton Axel Womens
  • Pros:  Extremely comfortable,
  • Cons:  A little too stiff for my taste,
  • Fit:  mid
  • Flex:  mid
  • Shoe Size:  7.5
  • Boot Size:  8

Experience:   The Axel is a warm, comfortable boot. I've been sticking to manual lace-up boots religiously, so picking up a pair of the Axel's with the quick lace system was a gamble - but I love it!

  • Cons:  little hard to get lower zone tight, little big,
  • Fit:  mid
  • Flex:  mid
  • Shoe Size:  6.5

"I'm loven em!" 4/10/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Burton Axel Womens
  • Pros:  Great lacing system, Very appealing to the eye ;P,
  • Fit:  mid
  • Flex:  mid
  • Shoe Size:  6
  • Boot Size:  7.5

Experience:   When I tried these on these boots it really was a tough decision between these and the Emeralds, but I got them both! I love them... I got these for my EST bindings and board, as they are more designed for the EST bindings! I can't say how they ride, as I haven't been fortunate enough to hit the slopes but I will be soon! I am a beginner so I was looking for a boot with support but not too much so that it wouldn't give, and I think these definately gave what I was after :D Definately recommend them for anyone :D
