The Burton Cable lock is a compact, easy to use lock that will keep your board safe while you head into the resort for some food. "Pocket Lock" 1/16/2013
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Burton Cable Lock
  • Pros:  small sized, fits easily in your pocket,
  • Cons:  not long enough for really more that one board,

Experience:   bought it a while back as a precaution. while it works as a deterrant, it wont really stop any determined board snatcher from grabbing your ride. i havent had any problems with the mechanism like a couple others have mentioned, but i agree that the cable is a bit short if you need to lock more than one board, or lock your board to something a bit further away.

"small and convenient enough" 1/13/2011
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (4) No

  • Name: Burton Cable Lock
  • Pros:  small and light, easy to use, easy to set/adjust the combo,
  • Cons:  its not a definate prevention, just a deterrant, the 76cm can be a bit short,

Experience:   bought this a few weeks ago at a local shop just for peace of mind. it's small enough and light enough to fit in almost any pocket unobtrusively. I found thought that the 76cm can be a bit short for some situations, or if you're trying to lock more than one board to something. Its definitely not going to stop someone who really wants your stuff, but it will definitely make them think twice, or go find something easier.

forgot to mention, the rewind spring is a bit weak and sometimes the cable doesn't like to rewind all the way back into the housing.

"DONT BUY" 2/10/2012
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Burton Cable Lock
  • Pros:  nothing,

Experience:   I bought this lock in the beginning of this year (2011)- expecting it to work better then the REI brand i purchased few years back that eventually fell apart. I should have figured it was worthless the first time I tried to use it and it wouldn't open, however, I gave it benefit of the doubt just assuming it was due to being a little tight from never being used. The next time I used it it never unlocked. We tried for about 15 minutes before we had to get it cut. What a waste. So much for Burton living up to their name

"Just ok..." 2/27/2011
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Burton Cable Lock
  • Pros:  Cheap, Compact, Easy to change combo
  • Cons:  Feels cheap, Short cable for multiple boards, Probably easy to cut

Experience:   I got this lock because I had to give back the RC Warden cable lock I borrowed from my cousin. I got it for cheap from a local board shop mostly because it was Burton. When I opened it up it seemed really good. Really easy to change the combo. Fits perfectly in my pocket. Problem was sometimes when the cable was extended it would jam and not retract :( In that way the lock seems glitchy. Also, the cable is pretty thin. But this lock is better than just leaving your gear there waiting to be stolen.

"Great small lock" 1/15/2011
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Burton Cable Lock
  • Pros:  smalll, keeps your stuff safe, light
  • Cons:  easy to break, plastic,

Experience:   i got this lock for cheap from a local store so my new snowboard setup wont get stolen. When i first got it it was hard to set your own combo but after i got the instructions it was easy lol . This thing is great because it fits in my jacket and i cant feel it when i board and its really light too. I use it to lock my board and my friends up so when we go eat lunch we can enjoy it and not worry about our boards getting stolen . This isnt a hardcore lock lol its prob not hard to break it but some one will notice it when a thief is breaking you lock. It works great for me and my friends , deff recommenced it if you dont want you board getting stolen!

"Exactly what every rider needs" 1/6/2011
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Burton Cable Lock
  • Pros:  small, compact, easy to use
  • Cons:  breakable,

Experience:   Got this as a no brainer when I got a new board. Very easy to use, lock and reset combo. I would recommend this to any rider to keep their most prized board safe. Honestly a no brainer and Burton made a great dependable lock for a very inexpensive price. Like I said it is very very easy to work with.

"Not too Bad" 12/22/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Burton Cable Lock
  • Pros:  Deter thief, combination to open,
  • Cons:  Can be weak,

Experience:   Over all great lock, it wont completely prevent your board from being stolen but it will at least slow whoever tries to steal your board. I love this lock because it doesnt require a key to open, plus it can fit you are jacket pocket. The lock appear to be a bit weak, not its to be expected from something this small in size. Good investment.

"Decent lock" 12/22/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Burton Cable Lock
  • Pros:  Effective deterrent, compact,
  • Cons:  poor design,

Experience:   I bought this lock last year and have been using it on the hill for a half season or more. I have never had a board stolen, but lets face it, the mountains and the resorts are not the same as they used to be. The recoil-er design shows some obvious flaws and areas for early failure due to something like a spring coming loose on a hard landing.

"Thin, but safe" 11/13/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Burton Cable Lock
  • Pros:  Simple, Small, Deterent
  • Cons:  Thin cable,

Experience:   This board lock is really a great deterent from having your board stolen. It's small and the casing is durable, but the cable is on the thin side. However, if someone wants to steal a board I'd like to think they would go for the ease of one that's unlocked. Overall this lock has done it's job time and time again with great ease of fitting in my pocket.
