"Cartel" 12/9/2010
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Burton Cartel EST
  • Pros:  Very forgiving,
  • Cons:  A bit too stiff,
  • Flex:  mid

Experience:   This binding is a lot more stiff than my Mission EST, this binding definitely goes great if you're an all mountain cruiser or if you fly off those kickers and you need a strong binding to soften those landings. Dont get me wrong, you can still take these bindings to the park too, but if you're looking for more flex, look for softer bindings. These bindings are great and you will hear nothing but great things about them.

"Amazing binding amazing price" 11/13/2010
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Burton Cartel EST
  • Pros:  Very sturdy, super clean feel,
  • Cons:  none,
  • Flex:  soft

Experience:   Well the cartel was always my favorite binding even befor the chanel. they are super sturdy and i ride the entire mountain. i get in around 50 to 75 trips up the mountain every year and at least 20 runs a day, and the only thing to ever happen to my cartels was a slip out on a rail took off one of my rachets. But being such a great binding the rachet screwed right back on.

"Same great binding with a little improvement" 10/25/2010
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Burton Cartel EST
  • Pros:  Stiff enough for freeride, Soft enough for the park,
  • Cons:  Still a lot of forward lean,
  • Flex:  mid

Experience:   Tried these out at Mt Adams and got to say they are the same great binding the Cartels were last year. I know last year some people took issue with the fact that the minimum forward lean was still a pretty sharp angle. This year its a little better I think, but if you're one of the people who ranted about it last year, you'll have the same problem this year. Other than that, this is a great reliable binding. I've seen multiple people put cartels though a beating that most other bindings just wont hold up to. In my opinion, one of the best bang for the buck bindings on the market yet again. Really the only issue I can see with these is that a lot of people use them. If you're one of those guys that just needs to be different and never follows the crowd (even though they know what they're doing) these bindings aren't for you.

good review planning on gettin one of these

Most of the people that complained about the forward lean of last years model couldn't figure out how to set it back from the high back. I have the 2010 model and once I dialed it down the binding works FLAWLESSLY! Great bindings.

"Burton Cartel" 1/21/2013
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (1) No

  • Name: Burton Cartel EST
  • Pros:  Very responsive, great straps,
  • Cons:  Flimsy highbacks,
  • Flex:  mid

Experience:   Got these bindings new and took them out for the last few days of the season. I loved them- they were very responsive and always felt secure. Everything on them was easy to adjust mid ride if need be. However, after riding on them for only a few days the next season, I noticed that highback on one of the bindings was cracked on both sides. I don't recall doing anything that would have put too much stress on the highback, so I was pretty surprised. Perhaps I got a defective product, but it was a bummer, nevertheless.

"Great Binding" 12/18/2011
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Burton Cartel EST
  • Pros:  Comfortable, responsive, not too stiff.,
  • Cons:  none yet.,
  • Flex:  stiff

Experience:   I found a pair of new 2011 in large. I have these strapped to a Custom Flying V and love the set up. These are the first pair of bindings I've used with toe caps front straps and they work great. I didn't have any problems with them coming loose although the strap on my back foot did come off of the toe of my boot a couple times but didn't affect my riding any. The bindings are very responsive, comfortable, and actually look pretty dope. I'm still a beginner-intermediate rider and don't have a lot of experience with different gear but these bindings have met every expectation I had for them.

"Worth the price" 9/22/2011
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Burton Cartel EST
  • Pros:  comfort, flex, adjustability
  • Cons:  Compatibility,
  • Flex:  mid

Experience:   I think these are worth the price. Super comfortable footben and ankle strap. And the toecap fits so snug it gives you great control. Adjustments are super easy and mostly tooless so you can set em up right on the hill. They are light as well. The EST version lets you mount them in an infinate combination when paired with an EST burton board. Highly reccomended for all sorts of riding and riding ability

"Learned to love them" 2/10/2011
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Burton Cartel EST
  • Pros:  super comfortable, built to last, quality,
  • Cons:  takes about 3 sessions to get comfy,
  • Flex:  mid

Experience:   These Cartels EST replaced by Burton Customs (w/ 3d plates, non-est) It took a few days to get used to the new feel. Once I got over the I dont have a big chunk of plastic between my feet and board feeling I really love these bindings. It took a day for me to tune in the straps angled exactly how I like them. Making on the mountain binding adjustments with the EST channel is ridiculously easy, compared to the ol' 4x2 holes. About the third or forth day I noticed the straps had softened just a small amount, which made for a more comfortable snug fit. Other than the price, there is nothing bad to say about these bindings. I am glad I purchased these, my only regret is waiting as long as I did

"2011 Burton Cartel EST" 12/30/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Burton Cartel EST
  • Pros:  Solid Support, Ease of adjustment, Easy to put on and off
  • Cons:  None,
  • Flex:  mid

Experience:   Having recently upgraded from an OLD set of Burton Custom Freestyle bindings. I was amazed at how much binding design has changed. These bindings hold your foot like a vice and are super easy to get your boot out of at the end of the run. (one handed)The range of adjustment, and overall comfort are excellent as well.

  • Name: Burton Cartel EST
  • Pros:  An amazing all mtn. binding,
  • Cons:  I really feel that the 2010 version were more a so,
  • Flex:  mid

Experience:   Ordered a pair of 2011's online and have put them in the snow for a few days already. They are great mid stiffness perfect for freeriding .Crazy that I like my 2010 est cartel's a little better than the 2011 version though.Still a solid choice.

"CARTELS!!" 12/23/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Burton Cartel EST
  • Pros:  Responsive,
  • Cons:  Might be too stiff for some riders,
  • Flex:  stiff

Experience:   These bindings are stiff but yet very responsive. It took me awhile to get use to these bindings on my friend's board, but once I did I really enjoyed them... It was difficult at first to jib with this binding but once you get the hang of it, these bindings are a blast.
