  • Pros:  Super responsive, Comfortable, Bomb proof
  • Flex:  mid

Experience:   I upgraded from my old cartels and these are awesome. Unbelievably comfortable underfoot and really responsive. They are cartels on steroids. Love the new base but haven't really played around with stance settings to much. I've been waiting to upgrade to the est system and this gives me the chance to do it without actually doing it. These take a beating, absorb the impact, and keep you carving in comfort. On top of it all they look awesome too!

  • Pros:  Look cool, Look cool, Look cool
  • Cons:  Excessive base flex, Telemark snowboarding!,
  • Flex:  soft

Experience:   Unbelievable. I can't believe the rave reviews these bindings get. Perhaps telemark snowboarding is the new trend and I'm just out of the loop, but having made my living snowboarding for several years and just enjoying it for sport for countless more, I've never experienced anything like these bindings. I understand that the soft base is supposed to let your board flex naturally, but if you're a heavier rider such as myself (175-180 lbs, 6'2)that rides aggressively, DO NOT BUY THESE BINDINGS! Admittedly, my riding style has shifted from back lips down handrails to back shifties off 40 foot drops, but even on groomers, the entire base of the bindings lift off the board by more than an inch when cranking on the toe edge. It's seriously like telemark snowboarding - absolutely rediculous! Literally your only attachment to the board is under the screws since they don't have a stiff enough base to support an aggressive rider. I'm trying to sell these on craigslist as we speak, but almost feel too guilty to talk someone else into buying them. Truly cut out for the garbage can. I want my money back.

"A great upgrade from the Cartel" 2/16/2011
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Burton Cartel Re:Flex Snowboard Bindings - Men's
  • Pros:  Great board feel, natural flex, Super comfortable, Easier turn initiation

Experience:   These are basically a normal Cartel with some changes to the base to make them more like an EST binding. It eliminates some of the platic under your foot and replaces it with gel and foam to allow the board to flex more naturally and eliminate the dead zone that normal bindings create. Super comfy, great straps and ratchets and more adjustability than you'll probably ever need. A great step in the evolution of the Cartel.

  • Pros:  Smooth flex pattern, Solid and Cush base, Responsive
  • Cons:  Forced forward lean,
  • Flex:  mid

Experience:   I love the concept. It is basically est bindings for non est boards. I was skeptical at first, but you can feel a difference. The cap strap is amazing, and the binding is solid. The only thing I don't like is the forward lean. I don't like being told to bend my knees by my bindings.

  • Pros:  Feel great, Relatively light,
  • Cons:  Nothing yet,
  • Flex:  mid

Experience:   My buddy loaned me these for a day just to try em out and they were amazing. They felt a little different at the beginning, but I adjusted quickly. At the end of the day, I felt little pain unlike most bindings I've ridden. So they're worth it.
