"Burton custom est" 2/1/2014
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Burton Custom EST Snowboard Bindings
  • Pros:  Responsive, Clean, Adjustable
  • Cons:  Teeth seem a little bit soft,
  • Flex:  mid

Experience:   Wow, these bindings are great. They are a soft-medium flex, pretty responsive for all mountain. I would even feel comfortable bringing these in the park. The EST works with Burton's channel, and it's so easy to adjust them to your liking. Another pro is there is virtually no deadspot. The only issue I have is that with some heavy use, the teeth can begin to show some premature wear, but they do have a one year warranty. I would consider myself an intermediate rider, and wasn't expecting much from these. I would buy them again, but wouldn't pay more than $150 for them. Overall, a great beginner-intermediate all mountain binding.

"Responsible bindings" 2/27/2013
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2012 Burton Custom EST Snowboard Bindings
  • Pros:  soft, reliable,
  • Flex:  mid

Experience:   The excellent soft, lightweight and responsible bindings i ever had. The only one problem I faced is the screw on the front strap lock is spontaneously unscrew after several lock/unlock cycles (several is about 20 or more). But my friends who is using custom bindings and have no such problem. Since I always have a small screwdriver in my pocket this is not a problem for me.

"gets the job done but lacking" 2/20/2012
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (2) No

  • Name: 2012 Burton Custom EST Snowboard Bindings
  • Pros:  pure padding, comfortable, snow doesn't stick to padding easily
  • Cons:  no b3 gel, no rubber under toe strap,
  • Flex:  mid

Experience:   I'm coming from Un Inc EST Bindings. My Un Incs were a 4 and these are rated 4 yet they feel way more responsive. The padding on these are thinner than the un incs so u're closer to the board. the straps feel cheapy but maybe that's me. I definitely noticed the bindings don't keep me in as well as the higher end stuff with the rubber below the straps when you get into rotations such as flips or spins. My boot has definitely slipped out even when cranked to the notch right before my feet start feeling tingly. Landing in this is a bit harder than what I'm used to in my Un Incs as these lack the b3 gel. These are comfy regardless of anything and if u're learning and getting into the sport you can't go wrong with these. as you get better you'll run through these and need to get another pair then you can go better bindings. I'm going for the malavitas right now. So any rider who's ability is rails and spins and flips i'd stay away from these.

"baseless bliss" 11/15/2011
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (1) No

  • Name: 2012 Burton Custom EST Snowboard Bindings
  • Pros:  feeling terrain through the board, soft changeable foot beds for shock absorbtion, feels GOOD
  • Cons:  takes a bit more work , harder on the muscles but worth it!,
  • Flex:  soft

Experience:   went from a set of 03 customs to the 2012 est. the baseless system requires more leg power but feels like more of a workout, I LIKE IT!

"convenient EST bindings for the casual boarder" 10/30/2012
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (1) No

  • Name: 2012 Burton Custom EST Snowboard Bindings
  • Pros:  fast adjustments,
  • Cons:  slips if not properly fixated,
  • Flex:  mid

Experience:   I have these bindings with the Burton Custom Flying V board. The EST setup in general is very convenient compared to standard bindings. Adjustments are 3-4 times faster for me; this is especially helpful on multiday trips where i ride different styles on different days. I use a sharpie to mark the edges of the bindings for the different riding styles so i know where to return it to next time. In terms of performance, they don't feel as structurally solid compared to bindings like the Burton Cartels. However this should not be a problem unless if you're a aggressive/proficient park rider. The ratchets and straps are not great quality, but better than other discount bindings at the 100-125$ price range. Make sure you bring a screwdriver with you on the mountain. Because the binding is only held by 1 screw instead of 4, it will slip if that 1 screw is not properly tightened. Keep in mind that tight at room temperature does not mean tight on the slopes (metal shrinks with cold)

"Should have switched to EST years ago" 1/21/2012
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2012 Burton Custom EST Snowboard Bindings
  • Pros:  Comfort, Cap Strap, Options
  • Cons:  Almost too many options,
  • Flex:  soft

Experience:   I love these bindings. I had no idea the difference removing the base plate would make in terms of comfort and feel. I have chronically sore feet, which really interfere with my enjoyment of a day on slopes. With the EST bindings I'm able to stay comfortable longer, equally more time spent out on the hills. My only complaint with all the positions available, I seem to find myself tweaking my setup often.

"I've Got The '10 Model" 12/5/2011
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2012 Burton Custom EST Snowboard Bindings
  • Pros:  So easy to set up, especially on the fly, locks boots in snug ,
  • Cons:  more tiring on the legs, Strap leather cracks,
  • Flex:  mid

Experience:   I dont have the 2012 model, but i have the '10. I'm certain they've made numerous changes since, but my '10s are fantastic. They are the most responsive binding i've ever had, especially when paired with the Custom X i ride. The bindings are built to keep your knees in a slight more bent stance, so it'll work out those thighs and calves like crazy, but once you get used to it, you'll love this new stance. The only problem i have with mine is on the straps, where the vinyl or leather or whatever it is on top gets worn out really easy. I've only had them 2 seasons and its peeling off like a sunburn. It's totally cosmetic and doesn't affect the performance, but I hope that they've been made more rugged than '10. I'll keep riding mine till i break them or demo this new baseless system. It looks really sick! So worth the money! Burton is always a great product in my opinion.
