"Best Burton boot I've ever worn" 11/21/2011
Helpful Review?   (4) Yes    (1) No

  • Name: Burton Hail Snowboard Boots
  • Pros:  Flexy, comfy, Imprint 3 liners!
  • Fit:  mid
  • Flex:  soft
  • Shoe Size:  11
  • Boot Size:  10

Experience:   My 2011 Burton Rulers that were sent to me by Burton as a warrenty deal did not fit like my 2009 Rulers. I suffered for the 5 or so days I had those 2011's and knew i needed something for the 2011-12 season. I had my heart set on Ozones but they stopped making them in 2010 and so looking at the spec sheet, the Hails were the same boot (more or less) minus the SpeedZone lacing (which I loved) But after a week on the Hails, I am stoked on them. The imprint 3 liner is amazing! It holds my feet perfectly with zero heal lift. the stay puffed tough really does cut down on the pinch you'd get when you have to really tighten the boots down. the real awesomeness is the articulating cuff that really helps you bone out grabs, and get your presses looking good. It still offers lots of support but allowing the flex of freestyle/park boots. One weird thing is I'm in a size 10, but my street shoes are 11's and I had been in Burton 11's for years. Oh well. It's not bad, like I said, just weird.

it's actually the Flex liner, but it looks much like the imprint 3's and have the same great feel. my bad.

How have these held up? Did they get too soft?

"Great All-Round" 12/25/2014
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Burton Hail Snowboard Boots
  • Pros:  Versatile, Comfortable,
  • Cons:  re-tying laces gets old,
  • Fit:  mid
  • Flex:  mid
  • Shoe Size:  12
  • Boot Size:  11

Experience:   Great boot for all-round use, and all skill levels, very comfortable. I liked it so much that when I had a toe problem I got some 2014 Hails in a 1/2 size larger. Lots of changes between old and new versions. Miss the sat-puff tongue of the '12's. It was more supportive - conforming and stayed in place well. The '14's have a smooth tongue and with the auto cant feature, I find the tongue wraps around to one side and becomes much less supportive. Noticed it most when the weather gets warm and the boots as softer. The Imprint 3 liner is an upgrade over the older Flex liner. It seems more durable, and a bit stiffer. Perhaps the better liner is why they took away the tongue support, but I would prefer to keep both! I would have given them 5 stars if they had speed lacing. The Lace ring actually cut into my binding ankle strap and hooked on the material. It is a soft/comfortable ankle strap, a bit unusual and I am sure Solomon (Hologram) was not designing for lace loops.

"very comfortable" 7/21/2014
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Burton Hail Snowboard Boots
  • Pros:  very comfortable, good cushioning,
  • Cons:  not super warm, you have to tie them multipe times during the day,
  • Fit:  mid
  • Flex:  soft
  • Shoe Size:  12
  • Boot Size:  11

Experience:   These are nice boots for the park. I tried to use them for all mountain and they are not as responsive as I would like for that. I would prefer a stiffer boot if you are outside the park. They are very comfortable I don't ever have problems with my feet and most of the time I just leave them on when I take a break, unless I need to warm my feet up.
