"Burton Ion" 12/18/2011
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2012 Burton Ion Snowboard Boots Men's
  • Pros:  Stiff, Great support , Warm and comfy
  • Cons:  A little tight in the pinky toe,
  • Fit:  mid
  • Flex:  stiff
  • Shoe Size:  9.5
  • Boot Size:  10

Experience:   I love this boot, I purchased it in 2008 and wear it everyday I ride or teach. This boot is insanely comfortable and warm, except for a little toe crowding in the pinky toe area. However, I do have a wide foot, so for those with regular width feet it may not be an issue. In past boots my toes have become cold early in the day, but with the Ion my feet stay warm all day, even on a -26 degree f. day last January. I was very impressed. I recommend not heat treating your liner. I find it much more comfortable riding in it and letting body heat and pressure break them in The Ion is very durable, I have abused these boots heavily. I teach snow boarding and have to hike all day in them, up and down the slopes catching runaways. The only issue I have found teaching or on long back country treks is after walking for a few hours the lace system can begin to loosen up. I just pull on the upper and lower zones and I'm good to go again. I have never had them loosen up while riding. This boot is for you if you like a stiffer boot, warm boot. I ride back country and love deep pow lines and big drops, and this boot provides everything i need to feel confident while pursuing my passion. I recommend this boot and will buy another pair when i need to.

"Great boot but not for me" 2/24/2012
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2012 Burton Ion Snowboard Boots Men's
  • Pros:  Stiff, Comfortable,
  • Cons:  Too stiff for my riding style,
  • Flex:  stiff
  • Shoe Size:  11
  • Boot Size:  11

Experience:   I got a pair of Burton Ions from a buddy, they were too big for him. I usually ride Burton Shaun White boot and I did not like the Ions because they are too stiff for me. I like a softer boot and the Ions did not feel right for me. I have many friends that like a really stiff boot and I would recommend the Ion to them. Burton makes great/durable boots and I would recommend a Burton boot to anyone. I have wide feet and Burton boots are all very comfortable and last forever. Bottom line, these boots are not for me because they are too stiff but if you like a stiff boot then you will really like these. That is why I gave them 4 stars.

"the end of a long journey" 1/17/2012
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2012 Burton Ion Snowboard Boots Men's
  • Pros:  dual zones, thin soul, weight
  • Cons:  can lose their stiffness,
  • Fit:  mid
  • Flex:  mid
  • Shoe Size:  12
  • Boot Size:  11.5

Experience:   I recently got the 2009 pair of these of craigslist and they have ended my long horrible journey to finding solid boots that bit properly. I used to have ride anthems and liked them very much but i never realized how heavy they were nor how thick the sole was making my 5'11'' height worse. the sudden decrease in weight and the inch of height decrease on the board suddenly made me feel like I was riding in lead boots. I felt a lot more agile and more connected to my board. I do miss the boa system but it was worth the sacrifice. when it comes time for my next pair of boots I will splurge on these if I can't find the previous seasons in stock. where you save the money elsewhere put your money into boot always.

"Perfection" 11/26/2011
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2012 Burton Ion Snowboard Boots Men's
  • Pros:  Shrink tech, comfortable ,
  • Fit:  stiff
  • Flex:  mid
  • Shoe Size:  12
  • Boot Size:  12

Experience:   I am normally a 12 and have to buy wide snowboards but with shrink tech [the best thing ever] my foot size becomes a 11 and i can use normal snowboards. I find that they give me unmatched comfort, comparing them to my nike ZF1 [i also like them]. The price is a bit high but its worth it.
