Burton boards with the Channel System do not ship with Retro Disks or hardware. You will need to call Burton for a free set at (800) 881-3138.

Sierra Says: Here at Sierra, we feel the Malolo is the ultimate resort powder board. It is incredible for deep snow conditions, yet still easy to ride when the fresh gets tracked out. A 20mm tapered shape, 2cm setback stance, and NEW S-Rocker design give you all the float you need to embrace Mother Earth's fury. Not overly aggressive, the Malolo is fine for any intermediate or advanced rider looking to add a classic pow stick to their quiver.

Burton Says: The Malolo's shallower taper lets guys like Terje and Nicolas Muller spin off cliffs and kickers, lay it sideways, and blast through stashes with uncompromised flow and precision. Whether it's an epic dump or late day crud, the NEW S-Rocker design equals effortless float that will accelerate you out of even the deepest driving turn.

"great pow board" 3/15/2010
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Burton Malolo
  • Skill:  Intermediate
  • Use:  Crud,Powder
  • Pros:  Great Float, Fun Surfy Ride,
  • Cons:  Cost, Specialized,

Experience:   Had the opportunity to ride this board in 12 of overnight Tahoe powder (not the usual Tahoe cement!) The board is awesome. It floats perfectly - the nose is nearly impossible to sink unless you decide to just stop moving on a flat stretch of powder. The setback, taper, and the S-rocker allows you to keep the nose afloat without having to use the back leg to press down on the tail. The ability to float on a shorter than usual powder board gives you great maneuverability in the trees. The turns are nice, fun, surfy, slashes. The landing from rock drops and natural kickers were super smooth and stable. Even when the powder is gone and you're left with crud and groomers, this board is still very fun. This board would make a great quiver addition if you already own a freestyle or all-mountain freestyle type board.

"Pow Machine!!" 9/22/2009
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Burton Malolo
  • Skill:  Advanced
  • Use:  Chop,Crud,Powder
  • Pros:  Sick in the Powder!!, Fun in the Chop!!, Great Rebound and Construction!
  • Cons:  A little catchy at times on the Hard Pack.,

Experience:   I rode this board during the big pow days at Squaw last Spring (2009) for a few days and had a blast on it. The board with the new S-Rocker is a bit more powder specific than the Malolos of the past. So if you are afraid of change you better get the 2009 models while they last. The Board is almost hard to sink the nose while riding pow and the camber under the back foot, that was created to get more float. Also gives the board a quick snappy rebound in even light powder. The base is fast and the EST is the bomb. I rode switch a bit and it definitely took a bit to get used. The board is quite fun in bumps and end of the day chop. I look forward to the next time I can get on the S-Rocker in the pow, very fun!

"Fun Pow Board" 11/3/2009
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Burton Malolo
  • Skill:  Advanced
  • Use:  High Speeds,Low Speeds,Off Trail,Powder
  • Pros:  Tapered for Increased Float, Set Back,
  • Cons:  Limited usage,

Experience:   The Burton Malolo is a fun little pow board to add to your quiver, between the taper and the set back you'll find lots of float. A fun board for the park rat looking to get his kicks out in the backcountry, you'll find landing switch is easier on the Malolo than some other pow boards out there. Definitely not recommended if your looking for a quiver killer, or a beginner, this board is for advanced riders in the back country.
