Boot Review by Mike: Each season, Burton pushes the envelope of technology with their SL series boots. The Burton SL-9 is no exception. The Burton SL-9 offers the best technology in the entire snowboard industry. Here are some important features on the SL-9: Speed Zone Lacing, moldable liners, articulating cuffs, and feather lightness. Also, there are many adjustments on the Burton SL-9 boots that can help keep your ankles locked in place. Here is some advice my coworkers gave me: If you are not prepared to buy these boots, do not try them on! The Burton SL-9 is pricy, but will be the most comfortable, form-fitting and light-weight boot you can wear. ... More ?

  • Name: Burton SL-9
  • Pros:  Great control, Small form factor, Speed lacing
  • Fit:  mid
  • Flex:  stiff
  • Shoe Size:  13
  • Boot Size:  12

Experience:   Love these boots. Super comfortable but stiff and provide great control. Have a smaller form so you can avoid getting a wide board with size 12 feet.

"Burton SL-9 Review" 6/16/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Burton SL-9
  • Pros:  Speed Zone lacing, Comfortable,
  • Fit:  stiff
  • Flex:  mid
  • Shoe Size:  US11
  • Boot Size:  US12

Experience:   I had no problem breaking these boots in. The lacing system was a dream, some people don't like this system as if the lace breaks you can't fix it on the spot. You'd have to be very careless to break one of these laces (slicing your board edge across one for example). I'm happy with them but didn't pay retail, compared to boot prices here they were a steal.

Experience:   These beasts sucked to break in, even with heating the inner boot, but after a couple days of riding they were plush.

"I like them" 4/3/2009
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Burton SL-9
  • Skill:  Intermediate
  • Pros:  Heel hold, Comfortable, Easy lacing, Durable, Traction, Good quality, Warm, Easy in & out, Well known brand
  • Fit:  average

Experience:   I would never pay $450 for a pair of boots but if you can find a pair of SL-9's or SL-10's for cheap them definately check them out. They are very, very comfortable and my feet never hurt after riding. The only problem that I had was one of the laces snapped. I think it was because I accidentally cut it with the edge of my board on the lift. I called Burton up and they sent me a new one free of charge.

  • Fit:  heel is snug

Experience:   I wear size 10.5 and this size 11 is a bit tight if you have wider feet. The boots are very light-weighted. Heel hold is a big factor, almost like the boots were molded to my feet. Love it.

Experience:   this boot is sweet!!! looks good feel great!! got it for 2 bills so i would say at least its worth that much. cons: at retail price you're payin to be the first one to sport it so if you have a fat wallet and want to slim it down a litte y not :) the other thing is and not sure if its just me and dont know if it's just the boot is jus so comfy that i doubt the lacing system is workin properly seems to be way too simple

"The price is right!!!" 2/11/2008
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Burton SL-9
  • Pros:  They are super comfortable and provide the support I need. Flex's when needed but stiff for those sharp cuts. Speed zone lacing is one of the greatest thing burton invented.
  • Cons:  I haven't found any yet.

Experience:   The price is right for $180 but deffinitely not a $450 boot. Sucks for all the people who paid that.

"Good, but not a $450 boot" 1/15/2008
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Burton SL-9
  • Pros:  Responsive, comfortable, durable. Not too stiff but still holds its shape most of the time, just be careful when stomping through moguls.
  • Cons:  Heel lift. The cups didn't help much with heel lift, instead they put painful pressure on the ankles. Whites/orange are ridiculously ugly.

Experience:   I prodealed these boots for 180 when the came out, and I guess they are worth that. I've also never seen anyone with these boots.
