"Great Jacket, Awesome Price" 12/10/2009
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Burton Slick Rain
  • Pros:  cheap, decent weather protection, looks sick
  • Cons:  no hand pockets (big deal its a rain shell), strange fit (but it still works),
  • Fit:  Too small
  • My Size:  XL
  • Fits Like:  XL
  • Description:  it fits wierd, I dont know what they thought of when they designed the fit. Its super long, and roomy in wierd places. I was worried about the slim fit because I'm a big guy, the shoulders fit great (which is usually a problem for me) and it slimmed at the very bottom of the jacket, but a XXL fit me and I norally wear XL or XXL depending on brand, type of clothing ect. finidng big jackets sucks, so bottom line this fit me, not super great but it fits

Experience:   I bought this jacket because I've been looking for a cheap quality rain shell for a while (I've had plenty of time, living in CA, I'm never in dire need a rain jacket, but they are still really great to have) And I saw this one pop up on sierra for $30 I busted out my card right away. I got the jacket the day the first rainstorm came in and it was awesome, totally dry. If you don't need a super tech jacket like myself, it is awesome. All I was looking for was a basic shell with good waterproofing for rainy days at home and to waterproof a sunny spring groomer day here and there. I haven't tried it on the mountain yet, but in the rain its killer.

"Slim Fit my ass, but awesome nonetheless" 12/9/2009
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Burton Slick Rain
  • Pros:  water resistance, light, so light, like a wafer, pit zips
  • Cons:  pockets are placed for T-Rex arms, no mesh on pit zips,
  • Fit:  Too big
  • My Size:  L
  • Fits Like:  XL
  • Description:  Moderately baggy

Experience:   This is a great jacket, but Burton is smoking crack rocks when they describe this as a 'slim fit' garment. I'm 5' 11 180 with monkey arms, and the L fits my arms OK but is kind of baggy on the torso. The material is decently water-resistant and super-thin. I got it in white for the ultimate keep-from-overheating spring snowboarding shell. Not in the Sierra description: it has pit zips! Downside: They're not meshed in like more expensive jackets. Also, most other sites list the breathability of this as 10,000k, not 5,000k like it says here. The one big negative on this for me is the chest pockets in lieu of regular pockets, but they double as added vents, and there's a little interior mp3 pocket.

"Was hesitant at First" 12/13/2009
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Burton Slick Rain
  • Pros:  waist drawstrings, velcro'd cuffs, very nice appearance
  • Cons:  not a 'Slim Fit',
  • My Size:  M
  • Fits Like:  M

Experience:   I'm 5'10.5, 150 and it actually fits quite nicely all around if you pull the strings and wear it as far as it can sit. I don't think it's a 'Slim Fit' either - unless Burtons other jackets are bedsheets and that is a comparison to those alone. It fits like a regular medium jacket in the chest. The sleeves and overall length are longer than normal mediums (almost like a full size up difference in those two areas) - I actually have more of a small build but wear mediums for the lengths so looking back I definitely could have gone small but the medium still has a nice fit/appearance and will probably give more room for fleece/etc for snowboarding. I was told by a staff member that the jacket didn't have waist drawstrings and it doesn't list that feature on here or many sites (that's why I asked the staff member so they could physically check - pffft) - but alas - as you would hope for a $120 jacket - it does have waist drawstrings so you can get a nice tight fit on the bottom - I probably would have returned it otherwise cause I hate a wide bottom. ..But overall the white jacket looks Great and it fits pretty darn well. I'd almost expect the jacket to be priced $50 regularly since it's just a 'rain jacket' so really glad I picked it up for $30. Nice.

Oh - in addition to the waist drawstring - it has a hood drawstring/cinch too.

"decent cheap jacket" 12/8/2009
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Burton Slick Rain
  • Pros:  wind proof, rain proof, black zippers (2010 has white)
  • Cons:  elastic cuffs (really? Who wants that), sleeves are short for me but I have ape arms, chest does a weird bulge in the middle
  • Fit:  Just right
  • My Size:  M
  • Fits Like:  L
  • Description:  With appropriate layering it would fill in.

Experience:   Apart from the weird bulge in the chest (too low for boobs, too high for beer gut) it is not bad. I wear it for a snowboard jacket and it is perfect for that. My arms are freakishly long so they may tend to rise gloves a bit, but I can live with that. Zipper goes good and high with adequate fabric protecting your face from the zipper. Hood is ok, not big enough for a helmet though.

"Beware! Not True to size!" 12/8/2009
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Burton Slick Rain
  • Pros:  Looks descent, probably water resistent,
  • Cons:  Not true to size!!!,
  • Fit:  Too big
  • My Size:  L
  • Fits Like:  XXL
  • Description:  Wayyy off... Too big

Experience:   Ok so I dont know what the previous reviewer was smoking, but this jacket does NOT run small or slim or anything Burton wants to claim. I am 5'11 with a 40 chest and 34 waist and was worried the L would be too small (its stated in the size chart that a large is 40-42 chest and 34-36 waist). I decided to go with the Large anyway, well I got it today and it is enormous! I decided to measure it and guess what, the L chest size is 46 and the sleeves are too long for me (again, I'm 5'11 and always wear Large). Just giving you guys a heads up so you avoid the annoyance of shipping it back...

Exiled2NZ
Hi. When you say it measured to be a 46 chest, does that mean the actual jacket would be 23 inches from armpit to armpit? Thanks
