Burton boards with the Channel System do not ship with Retro Disks or hardware. You will need to call Burton for a free set at (800) 881-3138.

Sierra Says: The Supermodel X is basically an upgraded version of the popular freeride classic. With the X you will get the same 10mm taper and twin flex, but also a stiffer feel, faster base, and lighter core. Overall, the Supermodel X is a fast and aggressive freeride board built for bombing down groomed runs and riding in fresh snow. This board works well for the serious rider that mostly enjoys high speeds, tree runs, and powder days.

Burton Says: For those who ride any day, all day and can appreciate a deck that digs the same, the Supermodel X awaits. Open it up on the morning cord, pinball down a pillowy face, or slither through a crystalline tree line- one run and you'll realize why we just had to have an even lighter and faster version of this legendary ATV.

  • Name: Burton Supermodel X
  • Skill:  Advanced
  • Use:  Carving,Chop,Crud,Groomers,High Speeds,Low Speeds,Off Trail,Powder
  • Pros:  Very fast, Very stable at high speeds, lightweight, stable in any snow condition, great carving, ultra stiff, ultra responsive, poppy

Experience:   The Supermodel X is by far the best all around freeride board I have ever ridden, whether bombing steep icy or groomed runs or hiking pow stashes, this thing is unbelievable. Great in pow (10MM taper isnt much, but it helps), and very fast. This also is good for jumping ledges and rocks, or just carving down a powdery line. I also like how it has twin flex, making it easier to ride switch. The Supermodel X is definately for an experienced snowboarder, being that it feels very stiff. I would pair this thing up with CO2s and Ions, and size up to get that extra float in the pow.

  • Name: Burton Supermodel X
  • Skill:  Advanced
  • Use:  Carving,High Speeds,Powder
  • Pros:  Sweet turns, Solid feeling, Great control in powder
  • Cons:  Not for beginners, Not the best for the park,

Experience:   I demoed the 2009 Supermodel x and Custom x for a period of a week last season. Snow conditions ranged from powder to packed snow to moguls and some ice as well. While the Custom x is a super board, the SX comes into its own if freeriding is what you are into. In the powder, the feeling of the SX is much superior to the CX and is great for the level of control needed in very steep slopes or in the forest. In the packed snow it will carve better and will feel a bit more natural than the CX. Both boards give a good solid feeling in terms of speed and in the ice, but the SX just wants to turn sweet. I guess the CX will be better in the park, but again this is really not my sort of thing. If you are looking for a solid board to rip the mountain, this is it. But please note, this is a board for advanced boarders who like to push aggressively. As it is stiff, it will be too much trouble for a beginner.

  • Name: Burton Supermodel X
  • Skill:  Advanced
  • Use:  Groomed,High Speeds,Powder,Ungroomed
  • Pros:  Stiff, Slight Taper,

Experience:   I rode this board in about a foot of fresh light powder. The 10mm taper definitely helps in the powder. The board is also stiff which means it holds up very well at high speeds. I would rate it slightly behind the Custom X and T6 for pure bombing. If you do not like to ride switch at high speeds then this is a great board for high speed runs and powder days...works well to cover both of those needs. I definitely consider this to be a quiver board in that sense.
