Sierra Says: The new Social is basically the twin sister of the Blunt and is all about park progression. Having trouble learning to boardslide? Cruise Control Tech will help prevent hang-ups by slightly lifting the edges of the base upwards and away from the ground. The V-Rocker also gives this board a forgiving feel and allows for effortless presses. The softer flex is crucial as well because it will help you lock onto jib features and ride away from sketch landings. We highly recommend the Social for the female rider that is looking to improve skills in the terrain park.

"Great Beginner and/or Park Board" 7/15/2010
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Burton The Social Womens
  • Skill:  Beginner
  • Use:  Butters,Groomed,Jibs,Jumps,Low Speeds,Switch Riding
  • Pros:  Stable at low speed, Easy to turn, Forgiving
  • Cons:  Poor on powder, Slow, Unstable when pushed hard

Experience:   This is my wife's first snowboard and, in general, she liked it a lot but did not love it. It was a great, absolutely great, board to learn on. Forgiving, easy to turn, the reverse camber does everything you could want. However, after just one season she's relegated it to park boarding and bought a Rome Blue for All Mountain boarding. Reasons? When I was on my Joystick in powder, she would just sink. She also simply could just could not keep up--when she tried to bomb it was obvious the board was chattering, which was holding her back from high speed attacks on the hill. I absolutely do not regret buying her the board...I give it 100% credit for my wife falling in love with riding. At the Sierra price, it was also an awesome deal. However, realize that is NOT an All Mountain board and after a dozen trips it will leave you (or your gf/spouse) wondering why other people are zooming around in the pow or down the hill while you sink or feel creeped out by the chatter. However, there's a huge upside even after you graduate from it. After a season my wife's outgrown it, but it's not going to the dustbin. It's still a great park board that we can goof around on without feeling guilty for banging up her all-purpose ride. So, I would definitely recommend this board to learn on--I would even recommend it above a more general All Mountain board because it is so easy to learn on whereas the All-Mountain are less forgiving. Want the easiest path to linking turns and sliding down little boxes? Or are you a dude who wants their spouse/gf/female friend to learn to love riding? Get this board.

"Fun Park Board" 3/29/2010
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Burton The Social Womens
  • Skill:  Beginner
  • Use:  Boxes,Jumps
  • Pros:  Catch free edges, easy buttering, can even do jumps well
  • Cons:  Lame graphics, add stickers or ur own graphics,

Experience:   I was a little unsure about getting this board, since its considered beginner, im more intermediate/advanced. I can ride down the mountain very well, do jumps, and recently started boxes. The Social made boxes easy! I have the Burton Feelgood, which has flatter edges for mountain riding so I needed something that I could use for tricks, jumps n' such. I am able to take on boxes more confidently on the Social, I also decided to go a little shorter than my recommended size for my weight, it was a good choice because i get great speed. The graphics are pretty lame, i think anyway so I decided to load it up with stickers. Fun board for more advanced riders and easy for beginners.

  • Name: Burton The Social Womens
  • Skill:  Beginner
  • Pros:  Soft, Cruise Control, Rocker

Experience:   I bought this board for my gf and she looked better than ever after the first run. I am an instructor and i know that learning on a rocker board with beveled edges helps the learning curve increase dramatically. This is a great board if you are just getting into snowboarding or if you want to jump to that next level.

"A confidence building board" 7/22/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Burton The Social Womens
  • Skill:  Beginner
  • Pros:  forgiving, soft, easy to learn how to turn
  • Cons:  not fast, not a powder board,

Experience:   The Burton Social is the equivalent of the Sierra V-Spot, the Burton Blunt and the Sierra Stunt. All very flexible and soft boards. For women beginning to ride, this board will help you feel comfortable going down runs and learning to turn - the most important and hardest thing to learn when beginning. Turning on this board, once you get the hang of it, is pretty easy. There are limitations to this board. Most likely, you will not be able to charge down runs. If you get to the point where you want a faster board you'll need to move up to an intermediate. I found this board to be harder to ride on powder days. I'd sink quickly. Despite the limitations, the benefits of the Social far outweigh the negatives. I'd highly recommend this board to beginner women. BTW, I rode this board with Burton Stiletto bindings and Burton Emerald boots.

  • Name: Burton The Social Womens

  • Pros:  v-rocker, soft flex,

Experience:   This board rides like a dream. It's my first v-rocker board and this board is the business!I feel confident riding on flats because I feel like it's impossible to catch an edge. I have Burton Escapades on my Social and my turns are effortless and super fun to ride. I really notice the difference between camber and RC.

Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Burton The Social Womens
  • Skill:  Intermediate
  • Use:  Butters,Jibs,Jumps,Switch Riding
  • Pros:  Pop, Flexible, Fun!
  • Cons:  Can be shaky at high speed,

Experience:   I took this board from my lady friend for a ride just for the heck of it and fell in love with it - now I bought a Sierra Stunt (which is based of the Burton Blunt, which is the male version of this board) because I love it so much. If you would like to have fun in the snow and not too concerned about being the fastest person down the slope, this board is best for you. And how can you say no when it's $130!!!!

"Ultra Soft Board" 4/6/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Burton The Social Womens
  • Skill:  Intermediate
  • Use:  Butters,Jibs,Low Speeds,Switch Riding
  • Pros:  Soft/Flex, Easy Butter,
  • Cons:  Unstable at Highspeed,

Experience:   This is my first free-style board I'd say. I've always been getting all-mountain boards, but since it's on sale, I decided to get it. The V-Rocker creates such an easy way to butter and jib on rails, but it's not really stable when riding down the mountain at high speed. Good for moggles and soft snow.

"Great park and all terrain board" 4/4/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Burton The Social Womens
  • Skill:  Intermediate
  • Use:  Groomed,High Speeds,Low Speeds,Park,Switch Riding,Ungroomed
  • Pros:  Lightweight, Cruise control, All conditions/All mountain
  • Cons:  Graphics could be better,

Experience:   I love this board. It is lightweight, pops nicely, and cruise-control works well at high speeds. I am a beginner/intermediate rider and just started park riding this season. I also rode it in very slushy conditions for regular freeriding all over the mountain and it held up well at both high and slow speeds. Fun board! Highly recommended!

"Wife's first board" 3/27/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Burton The Social Womens
  • Skill:  Beginner
  • Use:  Crud,Groomers,Low Speeds
  • Pros:  soft flex,

Experience:   We bought this board for my wife as her first board. We both just started snowboarding this year. She's gone 5 times on the board now and she really loves the board. She just rides at low speeds turning across the hill on greens, so I'm not sure how it rides at higher speeds. The last couple of times we went, the temp was mid-50s and it seemed to handle the slush well for her at lower speeds.
