Sierra says:
Burtons at it again to provide the necessities for at home tuning. These vises will provide a nice surface for your board to be adjusted and have grips to prevent your board from sliding off. It is an easy to use system and will provide a great work space.

"A must for tuning." 6/17/2009
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Burton Tuning Vises
  • Pros:  Get the job done, holds board steady, lightweight.
  • Cons:  Made out of plastic so durability is in question with these. Have to see how long these last. Not worth the retail price.

Experience:   If you can find these on sale then I would say get em but at the full retail price look elsewhere.

"OK, but not necessary" 2/24/2009
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Burton Tuning Vises
  • Pros:  Makes the job easier, keeps board flat and stationary
  • Cons:  Not necessary, expensive for what it is.

Experience:   Yes it will help for jobs like waxing, scraping, tuning, etc. But its not really necessary. Plus, I think its way overpriced for what it is. You could go out and buy something without the name brand and have it work just as good.

"Does the Job" 1/10/2009
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Burton Tuning Vises
  • Pros:  Keeps the board where it needs to be, makes tuning much easier.
  • Cons:  a little expensive for two pieces of injection molded plastic with anti slip adhesive slapped on them and a pair of clamps you could purchase at Home Depot.

Experience:   They work very well and i would recommend them to anyone trying tune a lot of boards.

"Eh." 11/10/2008
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Burton Tuning Vises
  • Pros:  Keeps boards stationary when laid down flat, makes waxing and especially SCRAPING a hell of a lot easier.
  • Cons:  Rather than having clamps to keep the board stationary when positioned vertically (edge down), there is a slot in the center of each piece. Running up-down each side is a ridge in the plastic where the mold must have closed. It's rather sharp and can cut into topsheets. I wrapped mine in shipping tape to take the edge off of it. Either way, it wasn't the best at keeping boards stationary when using the slots. It's expensive for what it is. You can get the exact same thing from Griptopper for $30 less. Or you can get a "real" vise from Toko for $20 more.

Experience:   If you look at other tuning vices from Swix or Toko, this is really basic. It's a great help when I'm waxing because it keeps the board reasonably stationary, but I don't trust it AT ALL when using the center slots. In general, I'd save my money unless you can get a good price on it.

"Makes tuning a lot easier" 9/10/2008
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Burton Tuning Vises
  • Pros:  The board doesn't move around on you, much easier to get the job done
  • Cons:  costs $79 and i'm still saving for a new board ;)

Experience:   I used my buddy's and it was so much easier! I always though that a chair in garage was sufficient, well not anymore

"If you do tuning, you do need it" 9/1/2008
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Burton Tuning Vises
  • Pros:  Simple, lightweight, does the job, holds the board quite well both horizontal (waxing) or sideways (edge tuning).
  • Cons:  Plastic's a bit ugly but who cares.

Experience:   I used to do waxing and tuning on the ironing board and it was really annoying because it was a pain in the ass trying to hold the snowboard steady. This simple device is all you need. Also much cheaper than Swix or like brands.
