Burton Vapor

Burton boards with the Channel System do not ship with Retro Disks or hardware. You will need to call Burton for a free set at (800) 881-3138.

Sierra Says: The Vapor has been around for a few years now, and every season it continues to evolve. The first thing everybody notices about this board is its incredibly lightweight design. The root of this weight reduction lies in the Vaportech Alumafly core, which entails an aluminum honeycomb material to reduce weight while increasing strength. Burton also replaced much of the fiberglass with a carbon composite, complimenting the lightweight core and adding top-shelf performance. Underneath it all lays the sintered N2O WFO Base, which blends high and low temperature-reactive waxes with a super durable and absorbent high-density sintered material. We recommend this board for the experienced rider that is looking for a luxurious ride on groomed runs, off trail, and in the halfpipe.

Burton Says: No ones claiming Kevin Pearce is dusting his breakfast cereal with HGH, but it's obvious that something's giving him an unfair advantage. Setting a standard that the competition can't even fathom, the Vapor is so refined and effortless to ride that it brings out the best in anyone who gets on it. Just ask Kevin, the Vapors NASA-grade performance enhancements should practically be on trial with Congress.

"09 Burton Vapor" 2/25/2010
Helpful Review?   (4) Yes    (1) No

  • Name: Burton Vapor
  • Skill:  Intermediate
  • Use:  Groomed,Halfpipe,High Speeds,Jumps,Low Speeds,Off Trail,Switch Riding,Ungroomed
  • Pros:  Lightweight, Responsive, Stable at high speeds, , poppy, usefull anywhere on the mountain,, great for half pipe, Extremely durable
  • Cons:  very expensive, not quite worth the price tag,

Experience:   When I first got the board, I was shocked at how light it was. It was at least a few lbs lighter than my other snowboards, and when holding it, it felt like holding air. On the mountain, it can hit those high speeds without chatter, make quick turns or wide carves, and can perform in the park, pipe, or pow. In the pipe it is especially good, and jumps and jibs are also good with this deck. Took a while to get comfortable taking a thousand dollar deck on a rail, but i dont understand why so many ppl are afraid of jibbing this. It floats when it needs to in pow, and I even hit a couple rocks just under the surface with this, and there were no major base scratches, core shots or even minor base damage. Overall, this snowboard kills it anywhere on the mountain however there is no way i can see myself spending another $1000+ on this.

"Pop goes the Vapor" 10/27/2010
Helpful Review?   (3) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Burton Vapor
  • Skill:  Advanced
  • Use:  Groomed,High Speeds,Switch Riding
  • Pros:  Waaaaaaayyyyyy light, Seriously poppy,
  • Cons:  Narrower than claimed,

Experience:   Yeah, it's light, but that only counts for so much. Where this board really shines is in its responsiveness - it's like it knows where you're going to turn before you do! It's stiff without being too demanding, and seriously poppy. Don't plan on buttering this board, and leave the rails alone. One thing that bothers me is that Burton misrepresented the specs - the waist width on my 159 is actually 247.5, not 249 as claimed. I was already pushing my luck with the width, so I was really annoyed when I found out. Overall, it's a really fun ride, but to be honest, I find it difficult to justify the extra cost. Others have mentioned this and I agree - if you want to keep riding this sucker, LOCK it up!

  • Pros:  very light, stable,

Experience:   When I first rode this board, I thought I it was going to be too stiff for me. Not true. This board is perfect in every sense and great for intermediates looking to upgrade. For those who get pains on the chairlift from heavier boards, you won't get it with this one. Last year I thought that I wouldn't ever buy one because they are quite unaffordable in Australia but when Sierra had my size in stock, I had to have it.

"2010 Burton Vapor" 9/7/2010
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Burton Vapor
  • Skill:  Advanced
  • Use:  Groomed,High Speeds,Off Trail,Powder,Switch Riding,Ungroomed
  • Pros:  Extremely Light, Extremely Fast, Amazing Powder & Pipe Board
  • Cons:  Doesn't Excel In The Park, Very Expensive, Cheaper Boards Available

Experience:   I picked up this board for mainly riding in the Rockies. I live in Chicago, and hit up the Wisconsin area every winter / spring. It's a good prep for Colorado, which I go every year in early January. This board is great for someone looking to shred everywhere on the mountain. It's pretty stiff so it'll get you through any powder and won't chatter at high speeds. It will also be excellent for Pipe riding. This board will not however be great for the park. It's a very expensive board so you'll want to take care of it, not bang it away on jibs and rails. You CAN do that however, if you prefer to. Most people like softer boards for park. Overall, great board. Love it. I ride this with this setup: - Bindings: 2010 Burton Exile EST's (mix match white/black) - Boots: 2010 Burton Ozone's (White/Green/Grey) I went with a Park Boot and Park Bindings just in case I DID want to bring it through the Park for a few laps. Great choice, and glad I did so.

Experience:   demo'd this board at northstar and walked away with a huge grin. this board is the lightest and stiffest i've ever ridden. it charges without effort and ultra responsive. on groomers, in the trees and in the pipe. i actually prefer this board over the method. 'ferget bout it!' this board f'ing rocks! (too bad its so damn expensive)

  • Pros:  Way Fast, amazing control, super light, ,
  • Cons:  Cost,

Experience:   I demoed The Burton Vapor and it's amazing, it glides across snow effortlessly and gracefully. If you've got the cash to spare (it does cost a bit much) then it's amazing. Otherwise, I'd recommend going for a Burton Fish which is a great snowboard, especially for the money.

"LIGHT AS A VAPOR" 9/22/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (1) No

  • Name: Burton Vapor
  • Skill:  Advanced
  • Use:  High Speeds
  • Pros:  ultra light weight, ultra stiff,
  • Cons:  cannot be used in the park,

Experience:   this is an awesome board. my friend owns one and i have ridden it a couple of times. its super stiff composite allows you to hold edges and gain insane speeds. it can do airs but mostly due to its speed, has little to no flex tho on landing so be careful
