"Does the trick" 10/28/2010

  • Name: Burton X8 ICS Snowboard Men's
  • Skill:  Advanced
  • Pros:  POP, responsive flex,

Experience:   Although performance, not looks, is clearly the most important aspect of any board, I have to 'fess up and admit that I was initially drawn to this board for it's looks (I bought the 155) - but it turned out to be like one of those times when you hook up with a really hot girl, then find out later she's also got a great personality. Similar to various hotties I've hooked up with in the past - this board's a really fun ride. It inspires confidence, which is always nice, and I also found the X8 to be more stable at speed than other freestyle-oriented boards. It's in the pricier end of range, and the main aspect where I could feel the benefits of the added expense was that the board feels a bit poppier than similar cheaper models. 155 is on the smaller/narrower side for me, so I'll attribute the X8's average powder performance to that. Overall, a nice all-rounder.

  • Name: Burton X8 ICS Snowboard Men's
  • Skill:  Intermediate
  • Pros:  very responsive, pop, graphics

Experience:   I been wanting this board for a long time and finally found a good deal on one.. I can now understand why the price stays so firm, bc it is worth every penny! A very solid board, my only complaint really isn't even a complaint on the board it was bc I had to borrow a friend's bindings to use EST bindings with the ICS and the bindingers were a bit too large for me, so I feel like I didn't get to fully experience the potential of the board for me, but from what I did experience, it was a definite upgrade from my old board

"Awesome all around!" 9/12/2011

  • Name: Burton X8 ICS Snowboard Men's
  • Skill:  Advanced
  • Pros:  Easy to manuever, Floats in pow, No edge catch
  • Cons:  can be too soft,

Experience:   I've owned this board for 1 1/2 seasons and ridden it over 100 times (I lived on a ski hill). I had purchased a custom v-rocker but broken the nose on it and was hesitant to get this board as a replacement but burton had no stock on the customs so I went for it. No regrets I have ridden this board in all conditions and it rips in pretty much anything. You don't have to worry about catching your edge but most of the time it's there when you need it. Super responsive and easy to pop, butter, spin and switch riding is a dream. I'd say the only time it has failed me is on really icy days (which most softer boards do) and on some landings the tail will pop out on me probably a combo of it being shorter, softer and me not being stronger?? All in all I have a hard time complaining about this stick and have an even harder time trying to choose another board that would compliment it well. I do have to say you gotta ride the crap out of it so lazy riders beware!

  • Name: Burton X8 ICS Snowboard Men's
  • Skill:  Intermediate
  • Pros:  very forgiving , fun for buttering,
  • Cons:  can get washy at high speeds, not much float in powder for reverse camber,

Experience:   At first I really liked to board and how playful it is, but it does have its shortfalls. It really doesn't have much float in powder for being a reverse camber board. I think its because its a twin and a little on the shorter side. It also is much more likely to wash out than my reverse crew but again the crew is a 159 directional board and the x8 is a park board. Just doesn't fit my style as well. But still a fun board.

"Real nice board" 1/1/2011
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Burton X8 ICS Snowboard Men's
  • Skill:  Intermediate
  • Pros:  Flexi - enough for park, Stiff enough for high speed, Rockered - good for pow and park
  • Cons:  none so far,

Experience:   Done 15 days on this board, and it's a treat. I was looking at a Hero but I'm glad I got this instead. It handles well at high speeds on the groomers, it floats in pow, it butters in the park, the edges don't catch while messing around buttering anywhere on the mountain. It's nice and light too. It's got good pop. Kinda reminds me of my Uninc 2006, except with the floating abilities of reverse camber. Great all mountain freestyle. Definitely recommended.

Experience:   tried this out and loved it... still not a huge fan of ics and est stuff but this was a real treat. demo'd this for less than an hour and had the time of my life, i was able to do sick butters and nail some decent kickers. it held up amazingly on steep runs too
