"Stiffer than expected for a park deck" 3/13/2012
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Burton X8 Snowboard
  • Skill:  Intermediate
  • Pros:  Good all over the mountain, Lots of pop off the tail- powerful ollies, Switch riding is smooth
  • Cons:  expensive, a bit more horsepower needed for presses/butters,

Experience:   I tried this board over the past weekend for 1 full day. I rode with ICS channel cartel bindings and Forum kicker boots. Overall, the setup was great- super responsive, but not as playful as I would have expected. I rode the 157. I'm 5'11'' and 185#. This board feels really comfortable on jumps and boxes. the stiffness helps with landings and it has a good flex for wall rides. Buttering and presses were more difficult than my R. Crew or my K2 WWW. the X8 performed much better than expected on steeps and groomers. Carving and turn initiation were really smooth and getting air off of natural features felt really comfortable. Overall, I enjoyed the ride. It was fun, but prefer a softer board for park riding and a stiffer board for steeps and speed. I also don't like the heavy price tag. This board may be perfect for some, (other riders kill it on the X8) but its just not the board for me. It is highly possible that my expectations negatively affected my experience with this board.

  • Name: Burton X8 Snowboard
  • Skill:  Intermediate
  • Pros:  light weight, top sheet changes color, tdf pro mod, Made in Vermont USA,
  • Cons:  discontinued ,

Experience:   The 2009 Burton x8 is a great classic from burton the board handles everything we thru at it and is really stable in the air. It has elliptical kicks to help float in pow and the stainless steel edges are great for not rusting. Overall this board is lighter than average and when you team it up with 09 white triads they match. This is one of the last boards to be made in Vermont USA so if you want a board from burton made in USA this one if for you.

"Solid Freestyle Board" 12/18/2010
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Burton X8 Snowboard
  • Skill:  Intermediate
  • Pros:  Soft nose and tail, Plenty of pop, Great turn initiation
  • Cons:  Breaks down at higher speeds, Doesn't handle chop great,

Experience:   This board is a very solid freestyle board. It has really great turn initiation for easy edge to edge carving. The nose and tail are soft and forgiving on jumps. Switch riding on this board is about as easy as it comes for a cambered board. I would get this board if you are looking to progress in park and general freestyle riding. If you are looking for this to be a one board quiver then you have to temper your expectations at high speeds. This board will break down in the chop, but that is to be expected considering its forgiving flex and lightweight construction. This board will do fine at high speeds on groomed runs however but quite frankly most boards will under these circumstances. I used this board as as part of my quiver for park and intermediate freestyle riding. Definitely a solid board and for the right rider I could someone rating this a 5 star board for sure. My specs are 5'9 and 160 pounds. I rode the 155. If I were to have used this as a one board quiver I probably would have bought the 157 because I think it is plenty forgiving to handle in park and butter with while getting a little more stiffness for speed. The graphic is better in person than it appears in the picture if that matters to you. I used to own this board.

"Great Board" 12/4/2010
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Burton X8 Snowboard
  • Skill:  Intermediate
  • Pros:  Good amount of flex, Butters jibs pop, nice amount of flash/color
  • Cons:  takes a bit to get used to the est system,

Experience:   Got this last season and have been down crappy, icy terrain as well as just snowed powder. It works great on both and I had a pretty easy time getting used to doing butters on it. Carves great and the edges arent too sharp. Great board!

  • Name: Burton X8 Snowboard
  • Skill:  Advanced
  • Pros:  cant beat it in the back country,
  • Cons:  has some chattering at high speeds,

Experience:   this board will pretty much do anything you need it to.when you take this board through the back country or when your in the powder or on groomers this board will handle amazing.this board is great for hitting jumps in the park and small features.I wouldn't recommend this board for rails only because its edges catch very easy due to its all mountain design

Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (391) No

  • Name: Burton X8 Snowboard
  • Skill:  Advanced
  • Pros:  lots of pop, lightweight, true twin

Experience:   This will be one of the best boards you've ever written. Whoever says that it cant handle high speeds just can not snowboard. i broke the nose and tail on this snowboard and I am still getting more pop than almost every person at bear. It kills rails cause its really soft and forgiving. I hammer this board, and all its given back is love. This will be the best board you will ride. I landed double backs with broken nose and tail. Just an example that this board kills.

"Great Camber Park Board" 7/1/2011
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Burton X8 Snowboard
  • Skill:  Intermediate
  • Pros:  Good pop, Nice flex, Lightweight
  • Cons:  Chattery at high speeds/ chop,

Experience:   Took this board to snowboard camp. From the get-go it was really lively and really FUN: Great on the box, nice solid jumps, super easy to ride switch, easy to press. Flex pattern is just right-- not too soft, not too stiff. Great edge hold from good ol CAMBER-- gotta love it. Burton made a mistake in discontinuing the camber x8 (one more mistake to add to the mountain of missteps). Anyway, the only thing it doesn't do too well is flat base over the chop. But you can use your Custom X for that.

  • Name: Burton X8 Snowboard
  • Skill:  Advanced
  • Pros:  Lightweight, Great Pop,
  • Cons:  Deep stuff,

Experience:   Light board, and extremely poppy. Fun to ride switch on and hit the park, then slash through the groomers on your way back to the lodge. Rode this at Powder Mountain, UT and not so great in the deep stuff though. I felt it was a bit on the stiff side, so not a great buttering board.

"X8" 2/6/2011
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Burton X8 Snowboard
  • Skill:  Advanced
  • Pros:  Great pop, Soft, Easy to press
  • Cons:  Not good on ice (detuned mine),

Experience:   First thing I did when I got mine was detuned the edges on the nose and tail. This is my board that I use almost exclusively for the park. The flex on this board is great. You can effortlessly lock into a press on it. Will have to compare this to my hero when I get it hopefully this week. Going off jumps you just fly on this board. I nearly overshoot jumps at times cuz the pop on this board is incredible. Like I said earlier, I detuned the edges on mine but it still handles fine on the mountain when I am getting to the park. You can feel all the bumps as you ride though which really isn't too big of deal. If I wanna ride all mountain I'll go with my riders choice instead.

  • Name: Burton X8 Snowboard
  • Skill:  Advanced
  • Pros:  soft, landings,

Experience:   Great board. Extremely soft. Found it easy to land and the ICS system makes it easy to adjust with minimal issues. There have only been one time when one screw got loose but I was still able to ride down to the bottom to tighten it.
