"Great Backcountry or Big-Mountain Pack" 3/5/2010
Helpful Review?   (2) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Dakine Guide
  • Pros:  tons of space, secure board carrying , top or back entry
  • Cons:  More than a small mountain rider needs ,

Experience:   This pack is my choice for backcountry or Big-Mountain Riding. Has plenty of space, I think its around 3000 cubic inches, which translates to space for all the necessities for long hikes and rides. The vertical board carrying makes long treks that much easier, as once you strap it on, it literally becomes part of the pack. This leads to the next thing I really like about this pack, the straps and how comfortably this pack sits on your back, which makes it feel very lightweight. The straps are super supportive and stay put. Next, the ability to enter this pack from the top or back is very convenient, no more digging through your carefully packed gear to get something on the bottom. Also the dedicated avalanche tool compartment gives easy access to your ice pick, probe, and shovel in an emergency Lastly the insulated water bladder compartment means the chances of icing up are slim. I would highly recommend this pack to anyone looking to adventure off the beaten path.

"Nice large hiking backpack." 4/18/2010
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Dakine Guide
  • Pros:  Large, lots of space., Has the bladder pocket.,

Experience:   This is a very good backpack to carry more of the avalanche gear if required. It seems to be water resistant and it wouldn't make sense to use this for a day at the resort taking the lifts. I look forward to using this more for hiking in the back country and maybe during the summer.

"great backpack!" 4/30/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Dakine Guide
  • Pros:  Giant opening on the back,

Experience:   I use this bag to carry all my gear and load / unload really quickly. The giant opening on the back makes this easy to do and the construction of the bag is top notch. All things considered I've been quite pleased with the bags from Dakine especially when compared to the Burton bags which feel much more flimsy comparatively.
