"It's ok, not great" 10/31/2012
Helpful Review?   (2) Yes    (3) No

  • Name: 2012 Dakine Micro Lock
  • Pros:  Fits in your pocket, Combination better than a keylock, No tangles with retractable cable
  • Cons:  short cable, thin cable, plastic body can easily break

Experience:   I tried out one of these locks because a friend of mine recommended the convenience of the retractable cable. I bought into the gimmick but was not too pleased with the results. First of all, the cable is relatively short, compared to the coil type. Not only do you find yourself fighting to get that extra bit of length, you're also fighting the pull of the retracting mechanism. It is extremely difficult to do this with gloves on, near impossible. Securing one board is doable but it is also nearly impossible if you want to secure two boards or more. The one good thing about the retractable cord is you don't deal with tangles. The build quality seems alright but if you keep this in your pocket, be careful if you ever fall, you might crush and break the plastic casing. I switched to the coil type combo locks and am happier now.

"Easy to use" 1/21/2011
Helpful Review?   (2) Yes    (2) No

  • Name: Dakine Micro Lock
  • Pros:  durable, easy to use,

Experience:   I really like this lock. It snaps into place when you lock it and very strong. It's not that expensive and if your really insecure about your board getting stolen, you should get one.

"better safe than sorry" 1/21/2011
Helpful Review?   (2) Yes    (1) No

  • Name: Dakine Micro Lock
  • Pros:  convenient, no key,
  • Cons:  wimpy,

Experience:   Had a previous year's design lock. The cable got jammed on mine, but I was able to take it apart and fix it. Hopefully the new model doesn't have this problem. Cable is pretty easy to cut, but at least it is a deterrent from someone walking off with your gear.

  • Name: Dakine Micro Lock
  • Pros:  Small, Can Do The Job,
  • Cons:  Can be easily broke,

Experience:   I had this lock for a good amount of time and it does the job. But i think the line used for this lock can be easily ripped. But its a good lock for its price.

"Locked" 12/27/2010
Helpful Review?   (2) Yes    (2) No

  • Name: Dakine Micro Lock
  • Pros:  small, price,
  • Cons:  thin cord,

Experience:   This is the perfect lock when you dont plan to leave your board alone for a long period of time. It is good if you plan to go get a bite but not to leave you board for hours. Its so small you cant even feel it in your pocket. I did lose this lock because it is not that big but do plan to buy another one soon.

"Keeps the honest... honest" 7/1/2012
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Dakine Micro Lock
  • Pros:  locks your board/skis,
  • Cons:  thin wire,

Experience:   I've used this lock to keep my board/skis locked up at the resort. While the concept of a lock is great, it's in no way foolproof and 100% secure. You can always unscrew your bindings and get the board. For ski's it's a little harder as bindings are more securely attached. But the cable that is used IS thin. It can be cut easily with the right tool. Basically what I'm saying is it'll keep the common thief at bay but anyone who's motivated can still steal your gear.

"Simple" 2/10/2012
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2012 Dakine Micro Lock
  • Pros:  Visual deterrent , Aesthetically pleasing, Nice size
  • Cons:  Can't be operated with gloves,

Experience:   I've been told countless times that yes someone could simply walk past and snip the cable and steal your board but like the club lock on a car it's more of a visual deterrent so prevent opportunistic thieves. Can't really go wrong with this it's a nice size and just gives you that little piece of mind when you go take a break your board won't be accidentally taken away or stolen. Compared to the price of your gear this is an absolute must

"wouldnt buy again" 12/27/2011
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Dakine Micro Lock
  • Pros:  small, lightweight,
  • Cons:  mine couldnt reset code,

Experience:   so l bought this because of the small size, and because l was ordering a nice board so l thought it would be nice to get a cheap lock. It is small, sits inside my hand nicely, and doesnt weigh much at all. BUT the biggest problem came when l tried to reset the pin/code. It woudlnt let me. l put the end into it, (default is 000) and scrambled it, tried to pull it out and it works. now l'm not a giant by any means, lm pretty thin and weak. so l thought, ok must be my mistake and didnt lock it in place properly. but l played around for 30+min on the hill l mind you and couldnt figure it out. gave up and threw it out. would l buy again? no.

"Good Lock" 12/6/2011
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Dakine Micro Lock
  • Pros:  Small, Easy to use, It's a lock
  • Cons:  You can pull out the cable with enough force ,

Experience:   Okay, I got this lock with a pair of skis, and I was like, awesome, I got a free lock. Well yeah, it is just a lock. Nothing special, nothing super durable. I mean it serves its purpose. As long as you have a lock on your stuff, no one is really going to try and steal your stuff. But if they DO try, this lock will come undone with enough pulling force (which CAN be achieved by hand) it just takes a little while. All in all, it is a good lock. Higher than average, but not superb, but why would you need some industrial strength ski/board lock anyways?
