Sierra Says: Don't let the colorful top sheet fool you, the Helm is pure attitude. An aggressive sidecut, directional shape, powerful flex, and fast base come together to create one of the industry's premier all-mountain snowboards. We recommend the Helm to the advanced rider that loves high speeds, quick turns, and big air.

Forum Says: Not every board can handle the pressure, but the Helm is a born leader. Built using topless tech, the custom fade graphic is hand-screened onto hard glass so no two Helms look alike. With a clearcoat for protection, this technique shaves weight, slams the ride and heightens underfoot sensation. The inclusion of 2-Pack Secure allows for a supe... More ?

"Fun and Buttery" 7/27/2010
Helpful Review?   (3) Yes    (2) No

  • Name: Forum Helm ICS Snowboard
  • Skill:  Intermediate
  • Use:  Boxes,Jumps,Rails
  • Pros:  Soft and Buttery, easy to turn, locks onto rails
  • Cons:  Unstable at speed,

Experience:   I really like this board for everyday park riding. Very easy to carve and makes butters too easy. It locks onto downrails and slide very nicely. Only problem I had was it is too soft for high speed especially when it gets really choppy in slush. I haven't tried it in powder yet but I assume it will be decent.

Hey just wondering - you say this board is "buttery" and "too soft", but according to the board's specs (and other reviews I've read) it's a relatively stiff board? You sure you're reviewing the same board?

PowderMonkey
Sorry, what I meant was that it was softer than I expected for it being an all mountain board. I would have classified it more as a park board. The reason I listed being soft as a pro is because it was great for park. Sorry I was unclear about that in the description.

  • Pros:  Its just sick... oh and the price isssssss Right!,
  • Cons:  Not many, if any, Don't expect it to like like the photos..., Cause no 2 helms are alike. Looks sick anyways

Experience:   Super fun board... Easy to ajust stand width and position. Ride centered for non pow days and park. And when it dumps. Simply loosen the screws and set that shit back!!! Conventional camber, good for the icy days. Colors look sick too.

"Not the Best and Not the Worst" 3/8/2011
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Forum Helm ICS Snowboard
  • Skill:  Intermediate
  • Use:  Groomed,High Speeds
  • Pros:  Unique Design (Top Sheet), Great base that can handle a beating, Channel System
  • Cons:  Edge Hold,

Experience:   I picked this board up last year when Sierra had their 70% off sale for $78.00(with some credits that I had). I’ve used this board 6 days this year and had mixed feeling about how it handled. I like the stiffness of the board but to me the edge hold is lacking from what I expected. The first few days bombing down the Mountain when I would started to turn and the board was very sketchy for me at high speeds. At lower speeds the board handled as you would expect. It took me a while to dial in the bindings because of the sketchiness, once dialed in the board performed better but the edge hold is not the best. It preformed decent in the park, but I believe this board is best suited for just cruising around the mountain. I’ve been riding my 10 Custom V most of the season, so I’m might be making most of my opinions based on how it compared to the Custom. If you looking for a good board and plan on doing little in the park take a look at the Helm, but I would wait until it’s under $300 because in my opinion it’s not worth the suggested MSRP. Aesthetically the board looks great and has one of the best top sheets that I’ve ever seen. You have to see it in person to get the true feel of how it looks.

Just to give an update on my thoughts of this board. After riding the helm on and off the past few season, I've come to really enjoy this board, once I got everything dialed in. I know that I can take this board out and bomb down the hill and not feel any hesitation about how it will perform. I haven't done much in the terrain park, because I picked up a YES Great Beauties board at the beginning of the season that performs great in the park. If I'm going out to spend the day beating around the mountain the Helm is usually what I take. I've come to like the stiffness and have gotten use to the edge hold on this board. I doubt they are going to drop the price much more, but I think it would make a great edition to your arsenal.

Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Forum Helm ICS Snowboard
  • Skill:  Intermediate
  • Use:  Groomed,High Speeds
  • Pros:  Easy to ride, Great control, Good amount of flex

Experience:   I picked up this board used for a steal. It is my first real snowboard and so far it is awesome. The graphics on the topsheet look much better then pictured as the image has the mini color dots washed out. In reality it is very detailed and you can see the woodgrain behind the colors. It is very easy to ride even though I'm barely an intermediate rider. Very easy to carve though the turns and is stable at speed to give a lot of confidence when riding. As I am still learning, just message or reply if there are any specific questions.

  • Pros:  flexible, facil iniciar curvas,
  • Cons:  altas velocidades,

Experience:   Buena tabla para subir tu nivel en todas las areas de la montaña con una forma direccional para el polvo, se defiende muy bien en el parque. EL unico problema es que su flexibilidad la hace un poco inestable a altas velocidades
