"good 1st board" 11/21/2009
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Forum Recon
  • Skill:  Beginner
  • Use:  Groomed,Jibs,Low Speeds
  • Pros:  easy to ride,

Experience:   This board is best suited for beginners. They do have a really weak base so if u do rails this isnt a good board. This board felt unstable going fast and doing bigger jumps. But, if u are just starting out this is a good, inexpensive board to learn on.

"Great for the Rookie!" 11/5/2009
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Forum Recon
  • Skill:  Beginner
  • Use:  Groomed
  • Pros:  Soft-Core and very smooth, Awesome design, Lightweight Compound Matrix cor
  • Cons:  Not for advanced riders,

Experience:   The 2009 Forum Recon is a fantastic board for the rookie in everyone. It is very light weight snowboard with a compound matrix core. The board has a free base, smooth on the surface, which will give you a perfect glide! The board comes in three different color ways to suit everyone's taste: Black/White Blue/Black Green/Black. It has a textured top with a lot of crazy patterns, which looks quite good in person. Overall the 2009 Forum Recon is a great budget board which will give you a great ride whether on the mountain or in the park. I would not recommend this board for any advanced riders, but if you are learning to ride this is a board for you.

"Great beginner board" 9/20/2011
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Forum Recon
  • Skill:  Intermediate
  • Use:  Groomed,High Speeds
  • Pros:  Cheap, Easy to control, Great graphics
  • Cons:  Heavy,

Experience:   I bought this board in winter 09, it was my second board. It was well priced. I've used it now for like 2 years. It was a great board to learn the basics on, turning is easy, it's stable. It was a little bit unsteady cruising at high speeds, it also weight a LOT, carrying it from parking to slope was just an adventure. The graphics look even nicer than I thought, I have owned the 161cm (green one) the green is much more alive in real. It was pretty durable had like 7 weeks of fun on it.

  • Pros:  Stable, Sturdy, Nice design
  • Cons:  Heavy,

Experience:   Actually picked it up when it was on sale for 150. Shes a bit heavy but its pretty good for an all mountain day, I like the pop on it. Base graphic is a little plain but the design on the top is pretty sweet, wish my size came in black/orange though. I wouldnt buy it unless it was on sale, however.

"not bad for the money" 9/7/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Forum Recon
  • Skill:  Beginner
  • Pros:  inexpensive, durable, easy to learn good basics on
  • Cons:  heavy, wide, extruded base

Experience:   Forum Recon is a good all around board. It is a great board to learn the basics on, but comes up short when you start to progress as a rider. The Recon carves well and is durable. However, it is pretty heavy and is difficult to do tricks on. It does not have too much pop and tricks feel like you have to muscle them on this board. Extruded base is durable, but I always prefer sintered. For me, I just go faster and feel better with a sintered base. Also, extruded bases don't hold wax as well, so there is more upkeep to maintain a clean-looking and well riding base. Overall, a good board to learn on and super inexpensive!

"Excellent beginner board" 9/1/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Forum Recon
  • Skill:  Beginner
  • Use:  Groomed,Low Speeds
  • Pros:  Easy to control, Reasonable pricing, Good design
  • Cons:  Heavy, Slow,

Experience:   This is my first board. I learned snowboarding with this animal. Since it's not too pricey, I wasn't afraid to do anything crazy with it. But I don't like the weight, especially carrying it from parking lot to the slope. If you are a beginner, then I suggest you to get this board. It's a good board to get your basic right.

  • Pros:  Awesome price, good bang for your buck, easy to learn on, forgiving
  • Cons:  shaky at high speeds, doesn't lock onto rails very well,

Experience:   Pretty good board for the price, was my first board and was pretty easy to learn on and very forgiving. The only reason i gave this board a 4 is because its very shaky at high speeds and it doesnt lock onto rails well, overall its a pretty good board

"Solid beginner board" 6/1/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Forum Recon
  • Skill:  Beginner
  • Pros:  Cheap, Sick Graphics, Poppy

Experience:   This is a pretty good beginner board. Cheap, sick graphics (way better in person, even the grey one), feels really good. Nice and poppy; good flex, but not too much. It's definitely a beginner board, more than fine for green/blue runs. I'd give it a thumbs up for years 1-2, after that, I'd suggest getting Sierra's Crew Board, if that's your cup of tea.

  • Pros:  LOT OF BOARD FOR THE $, SNAPPY NOSE AND TAIL, Forgiving

Experience:   This board did not feel like any other price point board I've ridden. The torsional stiffness is lively and gives the board a great all mountain ride. Good shape to the board! Such a good deal even at $300, but $150! Dang wish I needed another deck....
