  • Name: Giro G9
  • Pros:  hard shell, ear muffs, super warm

Experience:   this thing saved my life. at least my brain. so pumped that my head wasn't turned into scrambled eggs on this nasty face plant. plus, this helmet is really warm. it's so much better than a hat. though, a bit pricier. Never slips, holds my goggles, and saves lives. what more do you want.

"Decent Helmet" 5/4/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Giro G9
  • Pros:  Good protection, Low profile,
  • Cons:  Vents are silly, The sizing crank in the back squeezes your head., Not the warmest

Experience:   Decent helmet. The vents are more like plugs so you need to remove the helmet and then remove the plugs to get any ventilation. Not really a big deal since the helmet isn't the warmest in the world. My ears nearly froze on one of the colder days this year, I always wore a helmet liner to compensate. Then there's the dial in back of the helmet to tighten up the fit, will when you tighten these two strips of plastic gouge you right above the ears. Maybe might just isn't the right shape for my gnoggin.

"Great value" 4/20/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Giro G9
  • Pros:  adjustable, nice price, very light
  • Cons:  vent plugs are clumsy,

Experience:   Great helmet, especially for the price. Dial adjustment really helped, especially for my odd shaped head (long and narrow). The vent plugs on this are sort of cheesy, and don't like to stay in once removed, but they do keep the helmet really light. This was my first helmet, and I barely noticed it after making the switch, after not wearing a helmet for the previous 2 season. They mesh perfectly with my Zeal Detonator goggles.

"G9 is a happy medium" 4/20/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Giro G9
  • Pros:  soft ear flaps and removable, vents, foam liner

Experience:   The gf has the old Giro S4 and upgraded to the G9. The difference is comfort (foam liner,) and more vents. Other than that it's just another model Giro helmet. It still has those removable vent flaps. Unlike my RED helmet, the vent closures are integrated into the helmet, with a sliding mechanism to open and close them. It's definitely better than a basic helmet and $50 is a good price. Don't have any complaints or cons.
