Sierra Says:
The Giro Root Goggle is specially designed to fit with helmets (not all goggles can claim that). There is nothing worse than a gape between your goggles and helmet. Secondly, the spherical lens gives skiers and snowboarders HDTV quality vision on the slopes.
Lens Definition
Rose Silver is a rose lens with mirror finish to reflect the sun. Great for spring and partly sunny days.
Gold Lenses are a yellow/blue tint which is perfect for night riding and storm days.
Silver Lenses are amber/smoke color which is perfect for sunny spring days.

"Giro goggles" 3/14/2012
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Giro Roots Goggles
  • Pros:  fits a large face, comes with two lenses,, spare lense case is padded,
  • Cons:  nothing extra special about them,

Experience:   I got the olive colored ones, which came with two sets of lenses. We used one for a bluebird condition and one for a blustery day on the mountain. It was great to just switch them out. The process to switch them out is fairly easy. One thing that I did like about the spare lenses is that it comes in a padded case to protect it. The goggles themselves also come in a more padded case than I'm used to for goggles. This might be useful for someone who is rough with their gear. Great goggles for the price, due to the fact that they do come with two sets of lenses. I would agree that these goggles are a great mid-range goggle as they don't have anything extra special associated with them. They fit a larger framed face and completely covered the face from edge to edge of the helmet. Although no gap occured between the helmet and the goggles, a little bit of a draft was felt there. I ended up putting on a balaclava and covering them with my goggles to eliminate the draft.

"very good looking + comfortable" 3/13/2011
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Giro Roots Goggles
  • Pros:  extremely good looking, comfortable + light weight, protective
  • Cons:  doesnt fit asian noses well, fogs up a bit,

Experience:   Since my previous review for this product was marked as spam, im goin to write a more detailed review for this. I have the white one. I received alot of compliments from my friends (guys + grls) for its good look. it looks much bigger + better when cuffed on your face. the foam lining makes this pair of goggles highly comfortable. the cushion it provides is extraordinary that it somewhat protects you from head injuries. as a 2nd year snowboarder, i attempted a jump but ended up landing on my face (without any helmet); thankfully the first point of contact to the ground was my goggles, which provided alot of cushion and absorption of shock. I then landed on my chest. my lungs were so painful that i couldn't breathe for at least 5 seconds. i truly do believe the goggles saved me from a concussion, if not a head trauma! the goggles, however, do not fit asian noses well. there is a tiny little gap between my asian nose and the foam lining. however, the gap disappeared after a couple times of use... also, it fogged up a bit when it was snowing really bad. no fog was visible the other times i snowboarded in warmer weather tho. so i guess this pair can't really withstand the extreme snow and cold?

"Standard large-ish goggle" 7/12/2010
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Giro Roots Goggles
  • Pros:  Triple layer , Extended strap anchors,

Experience:   This goggle will fit medium-to-large faces, as the frame is on the larger size. I've got an medium average-sized face, and it fits well; the large frame doesn't cause any fit issues, but actually is a plus as it improves peripheral vision. I paired it with a Giro G10, and the fit was actually quite good, but you might want to try it with your own helmet to make sure the goggle doesn't push the helmet up. The strap anchors are extended a bit outwards, and I think these help relieve pressure points a bit.

"clear view" 4/12/2010
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (1) No

  • Name: Giro Roots Goggles
  • Pros:  spherical lens, comfortable, good ventilation

Experience:   This goggle fits very well with my Giro Shiv helmet. They are comfortable enough that I forgot I was wearing them. Mirrored lenses mean no one can tell where you are looking. It never fogged up on me even when I breathed up into it through my bandanna. The spherical lenses really do make a difference in the periphery.

"Not bad, or great..." 1/20/2012
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Giro Roots Goggles
  • Pros:  They do fit well with helmets, They don't feel cheaply made, Comes with a cleaning wipe
  • Cons:  view range could use some help,

Experience:   While I haven't used them much I found them to be a fairly middle of the road goggle. I have a larger head and with/without a helmet the goggle seemed rather small of my face. They don't feel cheaply made but at the same time, you really can't point at anything quality. I recommend these for someone who is unsure about what goggles to get in a middle range price tier. If I could change anything about them, it would be the view range...seems like too much of the peripheral areas are blocked.

"Good looking, good feeling" 5/23/2011
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Giro Roots Goggles
  • Pros:  feels good, looks good, no distortion
  • Cons:  didn't fit K2 rant perfectly,

Experience:   I bought these goggles for my K2 rant pro helmet. First bad thing was that it didn't fit perfectly on it when set on the head. It leaves small cap at your fore head. but that haven't been disturbing much, and visor of the helmet also reduce how the gap shows outside. should had bought tried these on helmet before but it is fits pretty ok tough and looks good.

"Very nice goggle to go with Giro helmet" 2/21/2011
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Giro Roots Goggles
  • Pros:  good clear view, nice fit with Giro helmet, good price
  • Cons:  a bit wide without helmet,

Experience:   Bought this for my wife to wear with her Giro Omen helmet. It fits very well with the helmet as advertised. If wear without the helmet, it might be a bit wide for narrow face.
