K2 Parkstar

Sierra Says: The Parkstar is new this season and is a reverse cambered version of the Darkstar. By adding the Jib Rocker to this board, K2 has made it more playful and easier to ride. Now you can butter more features in the park with less struggle and land those harder tricks that were seemingly impossible to get down the season before. Also, the very fast sintered base and Carbon Matrix 1 gives you the stability to ride fast and launch high off any kickers in the park while also preventing you from washing out when landing. We recommend this board for the intermediate to advanced park riders that want the great performance the Darkstar is known for while getting the ease of control and mane... More ?

Base color may very.

"Ridiculous Board" 2/9/2010
Helpful Review?   (2) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: K2 Parkstar
  • Skill:  Intermediate
  • Use:  Groomed,High Speeds,Jibs,Jumps,Low Speeds,Switch Riding
  • Pros:  Stable at high speeds, Doesn't catch edge, Lots of pop

Experience:   This board is ridiculous. The first thing I noticed was how high I could jump - ollies were amazingly easy. You get tons of pop, and when you come down, it feels like this board almost guides you back if your landing is not spot on. The response is much better than other boards I've tried, which I think is due to k2's Matrix I system. The park star goes ridiculously fast. People say not to get rocker boards because they wash out on icy patches at high speeds, and I would've agreed - but I have ridden this board straight over long icy patches, and didn't wash out once! There wasn't a hint of instability, ever. This board is extremely stable at high speeds, even more than most of the cambered boards I've tried. I demo'd this board along with a Ride Machete, and even with all the hype that the machete gets, I like this board much better. It's more stable, gets more pop, and the response is quicker. GET THIS BOARD.

"I'm sold!" 4/30/2010

  • Name: K2 Parkstar

  • Pros:  Less chatter then Sierrascope/Indoor Survival, Like a WWW on steroids, Very good Reverse Camber

Experience:   Quite possibly the bet implementation of reverse camber technology of all the boards I've tried. Rode this back to back with a Sierrascope, and while I do like the Sierra, I'm taking this board for the season. The kicker similar to FK, but more predictable as it doesn't have as aggressive kick to it. The board between the bindings has stiffer flex then the Carbon stringers on the Sierrascope/Indoor, so I think it far more stable charging down groomers. The Sierrascope suffers from large amounts of chatter, not the Parkstar!. The flex at the ends are similar between the boards. Both soft and easy to lock into presses. This board for me is a clear winner over the Capita variants as I felt its more stable on groomers. Both are equally fun for buttering around.

  • Pros:  Do it all deck, medium flex, stable
  • Cons:  none,

Experience:   I owned this board for about a month and a half this season. It was my first board from k2 and i was not disapointed. I like k2 jib rocker alot, more than capitas flatkick, i just find it to be alot more stable than other reverse cambers. flex can be pressed easily and still be taken off big jumps and in pow. holds an edge great and can really be taken all over the mountain. It was the first reverse camber board i ever rode and owned, and it hooked me on reverse camber from then on. Buy it!

"Good feeling yet not long lasting" 7/16/2011

  • Name: K2 Parkstar
  • Skill:  Advanced
  • Use:  Butters,Groomed,Halfpipe,High Speeds,Jibs,Jumps,Switch Riding
  • Pros:  I love this board to death, I love the flex,, rocker & zero camber, wonderful pop
  • Cons:  Poor lamination, DELAM, Crap manufacture warranty

Experience:   I love this board, I love the flex the pop it gives. they way it just breaks into butters and jibs. The fact that its so flexible makes it nose manuals and nose grinds effortless. Even out the park it carves like a dream. The problem I have is the fact that every body that I see riding this board (including me) have complications with delaming. The lamination is complete crap. Its cool in all to see my core but actually it sucks ass. I've talked to the local shop where I bought it and they said themselves that they had multiple occasions with the boards delaming. Not only did they mention that, they mentioned that they have sent the boards to k2 and k2 doesn't even cover it. After realizing that sending my board to k2 was completely pointless I let them epoxy the board for $10. It still didnt hold. I decided to just buy a tube of high strength epoxy and fix it after every time I go out. I'm frequent riding seeing that I teach on the weekends. I love the way this board rides but really I never would buy it again. It should have been recalled because of such shitty lamination. overall this was a waste of money. Next board I buy I'm hoping it will last me more than 2 seasons

  • Pros:  Lots of Pop, Good Flex,
  • Cons:  Dings Easily,

Experience:   This board is one of the best boards I've had the chance to ride. It has an amazing flex and lots of pop. It is really good in the park as well as on the mountain. This is a good board for people who like the park but also want to shred the rest of the mountain. Bottom line, BUY IT!

  • Use:  Boxes,Jumps,Rails
  • Pros:  Fun Rocker, Lightweight , Good flex
  • Cons:  Non,

Experience:   I bought this board at the beginning of the year, and wasn't to sure if i would like it. But after the first day riding it i was convinced, This is one of the best boards i have ridden. The rocker is perfect for this board, a really good mid flex, and lightweight. Honestly what more could you ask for... oh yea it also floats really well in powder.

"Killer Board!" 5/1/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: K2 Parkstar
  • Skill:  Intermediate
  • Use:  High Speeds,Jumps,Switch Riding
  • Pros:  stable at speeds, jib rocker and carbon forks, K2 quality
  • Cons:  don't have my size,

Experience:   I was shopping for a versatile freestyle board that I could use anywhere. I'm an intermediate all-mountain rider trying to progess into the park a little more. I was deciding between this and a Sierrascope. Don't get me wrong, the Sierrascope rocks, but I only picked it because at the time it was a lot cheaper. I demo'd the Parkstar and the first impression was that once you pointed it downhill, it wanted to go! It was great at high speeds and the carbon forks provide a lot of pop. I had an old K2 Zepplin that I loved and was bullet-proof. K2 build quality seems top notch. My big concern with my Sierrascope is how long it'll last. My first day out with it was midweek with barely any lines and no park runs, and still I got a gash in the front sidewall that was pretty deep and it had to be repaired. The reviews about the weak topsheet of the Sierrascope is no joke. My old Zepplin with cap construction went through over ten seasons with only minor scrapes. I also like the carbon forks that are also in the Parkstar. For this price, it's a no-brainer! If they had a 152, I would definitely buy it. It would be worth all the yelling I would get from my fiance (and that's saying a lot, if you knew her!)

  • Pros:  Super fast for how flexy it is.,
  • Cons:  wish it was softer.,

Experience:   Got to ride this board last week for the first time. I was extremely impressed with how it handled at high speeds, this board is FAST! It really is almost impossible to catch an edge on this board. It's definitely not as soft as the World Wide Weapon but it's not meant to be. It's still soft enough to butter all day long though. Mad pop for how soft it is.

  • Name: K2 Parkstar
  • Skill:  Advanced
  • Use:  Butters,Groomed,High Speeds,Jibs,Jumps,Low Speeds,Ungroomed
  • Pros:  Sintered Base!, Butter Friendly, Solid Pop

Experience:   I had the opportunity to ride this board at a local snowboard demo last weekend. I was extremely impressed how well the board felt for just about everything. You could butter all day long yet it still had plenty of pop for huge ollies. The Jib Rocker made catching an edge almost impossible, yet it still felt very solid at high speed. Well, I can't say I could try it at too high of a speed in Minnesota... I definitely will be picking one of these up if I have some extra cash this season.

  • Name: K2 Parkstar
  • Skill:  Intermediate
  • Use:  High Speeds,Park,Powder
  • Pros:  Very much all mountain, good amount of solid flex,, Bi axle glass. Handles park just as well as pow,
  • Cons:  maybe too stiff for park rats,

Experience:   This board is my buddy's but I got the chance to ride it. It's not as flexy as the WWW or the signal park rocker for sure but its a good solid flex that lets you take it from park to peak. Handles awesome and moves to your actions. Good for jumps and super fast base.
