Sierra Says: The Runaway is built with the female park rider in mind. A twin shape, buttery flex, and beefed-up construction contribute to this board?s success in terrain parks across the map. Whether you are learning your first spins or are a local legend, the Runaway has a little something for everybody.

Nitro Says: The runaway is for the female rider that slays it on rails and spins nines off kickers. The combination of twin shape, low camber and soft flex make this board a perfect fit for any female that wants to get technical yet still keep it fun. It also has a wider stance option than many other female boards on the market, so while Nitro is paving the way for female riders others are still playing catch up.

"Good, but not for me" 11/19/2009

  • Use:  Halfpipe,Jumps
  • Pros:  easy to ride switch, quick edge to edge,
  • Cons:  stiffer than what I like,

Experience:   I got the chance to demo this board in a 146 recently, and while it is a very good board, it just didn't do it for me. I do a lot of park and I like boards that feel playful, and the Runaway didn't feel playful... it rode really good though. It was just too stiff for me... especially in the middle. I think that this board would be perfect for someone who does a lot more jumps than rails, and also rides super fast all over the mountain. It just felt like a really serious board compared to what I like in a board. It was really easy to ride switch though, and it did just fine on the rails. Spinning was also no problem.

"Good board that can take a trashing" 8/12/2010

  • Name: Nitro Runaway Womens

  • Use:  Groomed,Jumps
  • Pros:  Good flex, good pop, durable
  • Cons:  I bought a 153 and on it it says 152...,

Experience:   This is the review of a Nitro Runaway Gullwing 152 (female), ridden as hard as possible by a male. i'm a beginner boarder who's never had his own proper gear before, so this review should be noted as such. I'm also about 5'8'' and 145 pounds, pretty lean. Didn't buy the runway gullwing for myself, but ended up riding it. It's a 152 and it suits me pretty well. It was used on the groomed slopes @ Mt. Buller and @ Falls Creek (both in Australia). It's the first board I used consistently (I also have a Palmer Burn 158, but didn't ride that one too much). This board feels pretty flexible, unlike the Burn. It's relatively easy to flex it and when sliding slowly you can easily feel the irregularities in the snow. I only slide really slowly when at the very top of the slope. When it comes to control, I think it holds its edge very well, and it feels comfortable doing my first (tiny) jumps on it. It should be noted that ski shops in Australia generally de-tune the new board edges, because the snow is quite icy usually. I took it on powder a few times, and it seems to float well. It's a little too small for powder for me though but if the top layer of snow is a little icy, i can do little jumps and turns on it easily. Qualitywise, i've taken it over rocks and roots etc and there are only a few minor scratches and a couple of core shots on it-which is good, considering that 'I rode it like i stole it' overall, it’s a really good board, happy to have chosen it. It feels good and light, it's easy to ride and it goes pretty fast (faster than i'm confortable with, actually). when it's thrown around it responds really well and it can take a serious trashing. I would strongly recommend it if you want a board that can be used in the parks or on the groomed slopes. For a beginner/intermediate it's the kind of board you can grow into and at it never feels like the board is limiting what you can do, the only limiting factor is your own skill!

"Love it!" 4/8/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Nitro Runaway Womens
  • Skill:  Intermediate
  • Use:  Boxes,Jumps,Rails
  • Pros:  light weight, easy flex,

Experience:   the first time i rode on this board i fell in love with it in an instant. the lightweight board makes me feel like i'm floating down carving left and right. because it is so lightweight, its so easy to get a nice pop before going down a rail or a box. if you love doing sick tricks and flying high.. or just want a lightweight board.. this one is for you.
