From Oakley: We’ve been toying with a mix of art and technology for some time. The idea was to create clean, authentic style for those who don’t just walk the path of life – they stomp it and leave footprints. That’s what led to Oakley FUEL CELL™. The idea here is unflinching originality and a smooth look. It’s proof that when authenticity speaks for itself, it speaks with volume. The two lenses are actually cut from a single shield of optically pure PLUTONITE® then placed in the frame to maintain the original, continuous contour. An innovation of HIGH DEFINITION OPTICS® (HDO®), POLARIC ELLIPSOID™ lens geometry extends clarity all the way to your peripheral view, exceeding ANSI Z87.1 optical standards. Impact protection meets all ANSI Z87.1 basic standards while UV filtering is an unbeatable 100% for every single ray of UVA, UVB and UVC. The lens curvature and frame architecture improve side protection, and durable yet lightweight O MATTER® frame material maximizes comfort with a perfect Three-Point Fit.
Key Features of the Oakley Fuel Cell Sunglasses:
LENS:
Dual lens POLARIC ELLIPSOID™ geometry
Optical precision and impact resistance meet or exceed Z87.1 optical and basic impact standards

  • Name: Oakley Fuel Cell Sunglasses Polished Black/Warm Grey Lens
  • Pros:  Comfortable., Stylish. , Look fantastic.
  • Cons:  Slide of your nose when your sweating.,

Experience:   I wear them for biking, motorcycling and casual wear. They are comfortable, stylish and most people who see them immediately ask where I got them and want them. I do not know what the other review meant by bending and trapping light, bypassing the lenses and into your eye? Not my experience at all, I never noticed any of that, even after 2 months of use. Oakley is one of the most advanced sport sunglass companies in the world and owned by the giant Luxottica, their Research and Development Dept. is at the top of their game. What this type of sunglasses could use is some type of sticky silicone surface at the temples and nose bridge. While sweating they tend to slide down just a bit. I am thinking of applying small silicone nose pads and at the back of the arms behind ears to stop the sliding. After all they are really one of Oakleys fashion glasses as opposed to sport glasses. All of Oakleys sport glasses have built in non-slip surface. I bought the polarized and iridium lenses in grey chrome and absolutely love them in size, fit and finish.

  • Name: Oakley Fuel Cell Sunglasses Polished Black/Warm Grey Lens
  • Pros:  Fit well, Good sun protection,
  • Cons:  Price, Grip,

Experience:   These are great sunglasses from Oakley. They fit amazingly well on my face, which is unusual since most other sunglasses hurt my face. The tinting on them is decent, not too dark as to impair my vision, yet dark enough to protect me from the sun. As all oakleys these sunglasses are expensive. The only real issue I had with them was that they kept sliding off of my eyes in the summer when I got sweaty.

  • Name: Oakley Fuel Cell Sunglasses Polished Black/Warm Grey Lens
  • Pros:  fit works with my head, lens color (black iridium) is correct for me,
  • Cons:  Price is always an issue, Only came in the white color from TS,

Experience:   Picked these up a couple weeks back after losing my hijinx (Bruce Irons pro model) on an airplane. Had plans to replace the hijinx forever because they were too big for my face but eventually fell in love with them because they were already a little beat, easy plastic slip on/off and had a cool look. Well then I lost them. Picked these up (white with black iridium lens available on TS at time of this review) and have been please so far. The lenses (still fairly new) are crystal clear at this time, and the color is very dark which is good for me because I live in the desert. These have a bit lower profile top of the lenses (flat, generally speaking) and fit under the bill of a hat better than the hijinx did. I've taken them backpacking once and a few times in the water, and they haven't had a problem with fogging yet (we'll see when winter comes). The white look isn't exactly my style but it's what was available wiht the TS discount, and it's growing on me. I like the full plastic frames with plastic hinges, easy to put on and adjust with one hand that way (e.g., no rubber place holders on your hair). TTFN

  • Name: Oakley Fuel Cell Sunglasses Polished Black/Warm Grey Lens
  • Pros:  comfortable, tons of color/lens selections,
  • Cons:  scratch easily (maybe my fault?), expensive replacement lenses,

Experience:   The fit on these is very comparable to the oakley gas cans. These ones fit my face just a little better due their curved frame as opposed to completely straight as in the gas cans. I sometimes use them when I go for a run and have never had them bounce off even though they don't have any rubber grip on them. My one gripe is that I had them hanging on my pocket and brushed up against a table and that left the lens scratched to hell. I don't know if it was just crappy material or just bad luck but none of my other oakleys have ever scratched over such a small bump into something. Replacements cost about 50 bucks to so I'd rather just buy a new pair in a different color and swap the lenses between the two.
