"Good helmet" 3/7/2013
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Red Avid Snowboard Helmet
  • Pros:  Light, Warm, some venting if needed, Comfortable

Experience:   We bought this helmet for my boyfriend when he was picking up snowboarding. We live in Canada, so it does get quite cold (we won't go if it's colder than -15C). It was not very expensive, so great value. Helmet is light, has decent padding so it fits comfortably. It's actually good that there are not many vents, all of which fully close because it keeps the head/ears warm by itself (no lining needed). We are usually riding in cooler weather, so too warm is not really an issue. The ear pads unzip so that you can put in some headphones, you can listen to music while still being able to hear (somewhat.. hearing is reduced by the pads, but they keep the ears warm so no complaints there).

"Basic Snowboard Helmet" 2/9/2012
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Red Avid Snowboard Helmet
  • Pros:  Adjustable Air Ventilation Vents, Rear Goggle Strap Holder, Removable Ear Warmers

Experience:   This is my first snowboard helmet, and this is a pretty basic helmet. I picked this up as a steal at one of the ski resorts (Alta) as they were trying to clearance them off at 50%. It does everything that it is meant to do which is protect the brain matter. At first I noticed that the helmet felt pretty cold, but I think I was using it in 20 degree weather in Park City and had the front vents open by accident. Once I closed them during the second half of the day, I didn't notice the cold any more. Also compared to my friends Giro helmet, this helmet was a lot lighter.

"Solid Helmet" 12/22/2011
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Red Avid Snowboard Helmet
  • Pros:  Earbud Pockets, Fairly Warm Liner, Simple

Experience:   Nothing snazzy but it's all I need. The liner and earpads are faily warm, you can go with just the helmet to about the mid 20's. If it's any colder than that, then throw on a balaclava or beanie. Mine was easy enough to size so I can wear it with or without a beanie and it fits perfectly regardless. You can zip up a pair of earbuds in the earpadding if you want to listen to music. Only con about the matte black color is it scuffs very easily, but I personally couldn't care. Red helmets have the most goggle fit compatibility with Anon goggles, just so you know.

"Great Helmet/Warm/Comphy" 11/28/2011
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Red Avid Snowboard Helmet
  • Pros:  Low Provile, Warm, Light-weight
  • Cons:  slips up off the forehead a bit,

Experience:   Previous helmet was a Giro G9, so I decided to give this helmet a shot. First impression was it was very warm. (too warm?) the interior is very soft and when you wear it it doesn't feel like you are wearing a globe on your head. Low profile/Lightweight the only thing I noticed is that it slips up on my forehead a bit. Could just be my head and not the helmet.
