  • Name: Ride Ill Eagle Contraband Snowboard Bindings
  • Pros:  Quick, Wedgie , Lightweight
  • Flex:  mid

Experience:   I demo'd these. So quick and easy to use than most bindings. the ride wedgie system takes a lot of pressure off my knees, ankles and hips. Super easy to adjust due to tool-less adjustments, I would totally recommend this binding.

"Flexability no problem" 9/12/2011
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Ride Ill Eagle Contraband Snowboard Bindings
  • Pros:  Easy to get into, Comfortable with or without Wedgie,
  • Cons:  If not set corectly, your boot will slide out , Front strap feels flimsy,
  • Flex:  soft

Experience:   These are great bindings, very comfortable with a great flex. Easy to get into like a pair of flow bindings, but light like how most ride bindings are. Only flaw I have with them is that if the binding isn't set to your specific boot, it can slide out easily. Great for the park or just riding a nice groomer.

"Cool Beans" 7/15/2011
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Ride Ill Eagle Contraband Snowboard Bindings
  • Pros:  One strap=lighter, good ride, nice mid flex
  • Cons:  hard to get in,
  • Flex:  mid

Experience:   I love the way the contrabands ride. They are comfortable and the strap keeps you securely in. The idea was to make it quicker to get in and out of the bindings, which i found to be false. The way the straps bent when i was not strapped in made it kind of difficult to get them out of the way to get my foot in. Despite that minor issue, they are super lightweight and solid. I rode them in pow and the park and they felt at home in both places. I do feel the one strap is a bit gimmicky, but it is well designed and it works.

  • Name: Ride Ill Eagle Contraband Snowboard Bindings
  • Pros:  one strap is a lil timesaver,
  • Cons:  hard to open after, and to fit nicely around boot,
  • Flex:  mid

Experience:   II got the contraband a couple years ago...long story short, the buckle doesn't open easily and even after watching ride's instruction video several times, i couldn't manage to make it fit nicely on boot (yes it was the right size)

  • Name: Ride Ill Eagle Contraband Snowboard Bindings
  • Pros:  In/out, adjustments, Wedgie footbed, comfy,
  • Cons:  Time to adjust, aluminum chassis, straps,, lack of toe strap/cap, responsiveness, durability,
  • Flex:  mid

Experience:   First of, I'm not a gimmicky person. But I'm also curious, so I demo them. Plus I haven't rode Ride bindings since I first started. After it took me forever to adjust them to my preference. Didn't care for them at all. I like toe straps/caps, I just can't get the same responsiveness with these as with traditional straps. Is easy getting in/out, but is not worth it for the lack of responsiveness. Don't care much for aluminum chassis neither. The ratchets are decent, but not the best in the business. I do like the Wedgie footbed, very comfy. I talked to the lift ops at my home mtn, for those who owned it, none of them cares for them neither. I realized that none of them have the Contrabands anymore. And they say the contraband is not reliable nor durable.

  • Name: Ride Ill Eagle Contraband Snowboard Bindings
  • Pros:  Quick in/out, Wedgie,
  • Cons:  Pain in the ass to set up, don't love the contraband,
  • Flex:  mid

Experience:   First off, if you're buying this binding get ready to set it up for an entire night. It's frustrating as all hell getting it to fit just right. The contraband is not the easiest thing to maneuver. Once you get the thing set up and on the hill, it's a decent binding. The fact Ride has abandoned Contraband all together tells you how much they believed in this technology. I'd recommend it for someone that really is impatient and can't take 10 more seconds to strap your toe in, not for someone hitting huge booters or bombing the hill. I didn't feel the responsiveness was amazing on the contraband. The thing I do like about Ride bindings are the metal baseplates and frame, very solid construction. Their ratchets can also get sticky at times. Overall 5/10 or so, nothing too great here.
