"Great bindings" 12/31/2011
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2012 Rome 390 Boss Snowboard Bindings Men's
  • Pros:  Yes i cant system, Comfy, Comfy straps
  • Cons:  Sometimes hard to unstrap,

Experience:   My knees are much less sore with the yes i cant system. The toe strap can be mounted in different positions over the toe. The toe strap wont slip at all. The ankle strap has another strap so it stays open so it is easier to put your boot in. If to much snow builds up on the ratchet system it can be somewhat hard to unstrap. They are extremely comfy too. These bindings are great, buy them.

"Good, well designed bindings" 3/28/2012
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2012 Rome 390 Boss Snowboard Bindings Men's
  • Pros:  Very adjustable fit, straps mold to your boot real well, High response, soft, and comfy
  • Cons:  Area to put in boots seems cramped, Not fond of the angled cantbed,
  • Flex:  mid

Experience:   I first had the Rome 390 a few years back, and although I liked the fit and feel of that binding, I felt it was too soft. Then when the 390 Boss came out, I felt I had to try it again to see if it had improved. And IMO, it has become the binding I was expecting. It feels just right, not too soft or stiff. The straps fit my boot well. Ultra nice response and feel on the binding, does everything well that you want it. Only dislikes is that the area to place your boot in seems more cramped than before, and not a big fan of the angled cantbeds given, so just sticking w/ the regular cantbed and that felt good. Overall, this binding works, is comfy, and you never have any issues making it do what you want. Turn initiation, surfish feel, almost as good as my favorite binding, the Salomon Relays. And Rome has great service, in that they replace all parts w/in 2 years if you have any issue on the binding, like the strap that I got replaced. It's just a great bang for your buck type binding.

  • Name: 2012 Rome 390 Boss Snowboard Bindings Men's
  • Pros:  canted footbed, super soft and responsive, incredibly cumfy
  • Flex:  soft

Experience:   First off rome has a sick customer help desk. my right highback was split when i ordered it from a 3rd party and they rushed me a new one no questions asked. They've been more than happy to send me whatever i need if its in stock. These binders are the way to go if you have a reverse camber stick. the cant beds help with pop for sure! i was skeptical on that whole thing but u dont even really notice the difference until you realize u can ollie higher. The cushion on the ankle strap is ridiculously plush and can turn any pinto of a boot or board into a coupe deville. Super responsive as well because of who knows what technology is under ur feet. Definitely have had a few bindings through my years and these are #1 for any NON cambered board thats loose on the jib. (go with the targas if you ride something that takes effort to press.)

"Function vs. Fashion" 1/6/2012
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2012 Rome 390 Boss Snowboard Bindings Men's
  • Pros:  Straps are padded nicely., V-rod.,
  • Cons:  Paint chips.,
  • Flex:  mid

Experience:   Functionally these bindings are awesome. The V-Rod tray with the inserts makes it extremely comfortable under foot. The highback has a nice amount of play. The issues I've encountered on a functional side have been with the toe strap - all too often when you really crank down the quick release (opposite side to the ratchet) pops open. I had this happen with last seasons as well and numerous people I ride with who are on 390s have the same issue. Problem solver: don't tighten the toe strap as much. The ankle strap is too long if you're on the small size of the L/XL (9-10 boot). I have had straps stretch to the point that they don't fit - they bottom out every time I tighten them. Yes, you could go smaller, but the problem is I don't like the smaller tray as I don't feel it fits properly, hence why I go L/XL. The resolution to this problem is warranty and telling them your straps don't fit because half way through the year they won't (unless you like that really loose feel, which I do not). On the aesthetic side: don't expect these bindings to look new for too long. I have about 4 days in my Bosses and the paint is already chipping all over the heel hoop and on the ratchets. I had a pair of Bosses last season as well and after about 30 days they looked more beat than 5 year old 390s. I'm not sure what Rome has changed up, but the quality of the finish is horrible. The main thing this will affect is resale if you want to sell and upgrade: people will think you're selling them old bindings not realizing they are probably only a season old. Best bindings ever? No, but they are nice but could be much better if Rome would work out some of the bugs (paint, strap popping issues, strap length, etc).

  • Name: 2012 Rome 390 Boss Snowboard Bindings Men's
  • Pros:  Can Crank em, Toe Hold, Comfy
  • Cons:  Paint seems to be chipping easily.,
  • Flex:  soft

Experience:   I went from 2009 Cartels to these and its a huge upgrade. They are so comfy even when i have them cranked down. The canted beds seem to help with the sore knees i used to get after a long day. I havent had the toe slip even once. I can charge in these bindings and feel confident. Only issue is that the paint seems to chip fairly easily, Oh and i ordered the bindings in black and TS shipped the white ones, which after seeing i actually decided to stick with, so not too big of an issue.

  • Pros:  Cantbeds, Comfortable straps, Adjustability
  • Cons:  Straps don't always lock down,
  • Flex:  mid

Experience:   These bindings worked great for me. I enjoyed the comfort and the cantbeds. However the bindings just didn't stay latched at times. Only has happened a couple times but it's their main duty. Strap me to the board. The conditions played a role I'm sure in the strapping and Rome makes a quality product. I'm writing this off as bad luck and I'll try again!
