Sierra Says: Rome’s do-all binding improves upon itself with the 390 Boss. With everything you know and love about the 390, Rome added I Cant Bed to give you the comfort you need for wider stances, reverse camber, and whatever your preference. This binding gives you the ultimate in customization and comfort while still being one of the best all around bindings on the market.

Rome Says: Armed with the full array of new 390s weaponry—the V-Rod Baseplate and
Asym Highback—the 390 Boss straps in freestyle flexibility with classic UnderWrap power. Bone out tricks old-school style or get over your tail on a press, and still have the direct connection necessary for exploding the tops of a pillow line. The Boss edition ups the level with the added customization of the Yes, I Cant InBase padding system. Run the cant pads for added power on Rocker boards, or run the flat pads for a traditional stance.

"the BOSS" 8/26/2010
Helpful Review?   (7) Yes    (4) No

  • Name: Rome 390 Boss Snowboard Bindings Men's
  • Pros:  Cant-Bed Options, Straps, Flex
  • Flex:  mid

Experience:   Holy shit, Rome is headed in the right direction these bad boys. I've never cared for the 390's of the past, but these BOSS binders have changed my mind. I rode them with the 3.5 degree wedge bed under foot and it was an amazing feeling. Pressure is completely taken off your knees and put into a much more natural position. The straps are next generation and are extremely comfortable and plush. The straps are real highlight as well with their new design and push function and comfort to a new level. The flex of these is well rounded and will suit the rider that want to ride anywhere from park to powder.

  • Name: Rome 390 Boss Snowboard Bindings Men's
  • Pros:  Comfortable ankle straps, Canted footbeds, Highly Adjustable
  • Cons:  Set up time,
  • Flex:  mid

Experience:   When it comes to bindings all I usually ask is that they are comfortable and hold my foot to the board. These bindings are very comfortable, have great adjustability and come with Rome's Yes I Cant, canted footbed system. You get a few footbeds with the bindings so you can adjust your's to your liking. I don't notice that they take that much pressure off your knees but I believe they allow you to widen your stance a bit if that's what you are going for. These bindings are comfortable and they don't have hardware that continuously comes loose like other brands I have tried. Give it to the rome guys, they did it well with these.

  • Name: Rome 390 Boss Snowboard Bindings Men's
  • Pros:  Light weight, Responsive, excellent adjustability
  • Cons:  Toe Ladder and buckle operation,
  • Flex:  mid

Experience:   Overall great bindings, tons of adjustability and once they are set up they are great. Canting pads take all the tressure off your knees and make it a breeze to ride all day. Very comfortable to ride in, responsive and flexible as well. they are noticeably lighter than older 390's and the Vrod baseplates combined with the Asym highbacks make toe to heel edge transfers effortless. Only problem I encountered was when inserting the toe ladder into the buckle and trying to ratchet the buckle my thumb would sometimes catch on the ladder itself which wasnt a big deal, just have to make sure to get my thumb on the ratchet before I crank them down

"best fitting binding yet" 12/22/2010

  • Name: Rome 390 Boss Snowboard Bindings Men's
  • Pros:  soft, various sole padding , thick ankle padding
  • Cons:  lots of time to setup,
  • Flex:  mid

Experience:   friend got these during November/Decemeber this year. Got me to help set it up for him. Noticed that the high back is pretty soft in comparision to some other ones lve seen. The ankle strap is pretty good with great amount of padding so the ankle wont be hurting. THe sole (above the baseplate) is adjustable to various height/angle. I THINK its to help with those that cant put enough pressure on the toe or heel side. Great new feature in comparision with other bindings. Liek all bindings it does take some time to adjust and setup. Great bindings, would highly recommend it

"Great bindings but small issues" 12/13/2010
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Rome 390 Boss Snowboard Bindings Men's
  • Pros:  Canting option, Good straps (Easily adjustable), Great ride
  • Cons:  Baseplate hardware, Forward lean knob, Quickly chipping paint (cosmetic)
  • Flex:  mid

Experience:   The bindings themselves are great, good response, straps are great, never had a problem with the ratchets, and its an overall great ride. The lower portion is metal giving it that solid feeling and it's also thin and cut out to keep it light. Highbacks are sturdy and the dampening is great. That said despite all of the positive reviews it may just be my set but I've had a lot of smaller issues with them. Paint on the bindings started chipping away before I rode the first lift of the season, the baseplate screws are flattop which made them strip extremely easily I switched the screws out with old burton ones I had, the forward lean adjuster comes loose and falls out of place so I have to unstrap and turn it back from time to time. [Manufacturer - not consumer issues I treated these very well and yes I used the correct size phillips head] Very miniscule things but for $230 it's dissapointing. On the plus side I haven't had any common issues with the baseplates, baseplate not reaching the inserts, or coming loose - yet. As others have said if you have a size 9 or 9.5 boot you may not want to get the S/M's, fortunately I was downsizing boots anyway. Just my experience with these. I'll also add I did not purchase these from trusnow.

"boss cant beds aren't necessary" 12/5/2010
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (2) No

  • Name: Rome 390 Boss Snowboard Bindings Men's
  • Pros:  straps are user friendly, works well with reversed cambered boards, good dampening
  • Cons:  takes a while to set up, somewhat difficult to screw down onto board,
  • Flex:  mid

Experience:   I rode these bindings for 3 days with a 155 Sierra Stunt. I put it on the widest stance with 15 degrees outwards on both feet (duck stance). I see no benefit with the cant beds; in fact, it threw off my balance even more. I think the cant beds might have been better suited with other stances (non-duck) because the cant beds actually tilted me more forward. I went back to the 0 degree beds after the first day and the bindings were awesome. I definately felt less impact/vibrations when compared to other bindings (burton mission, flows, union force). There is some set up time involved, but it is worth it. There is a lot of padding involved, so it might be difficult to get the screws to meet the board, but eventually it will get there if you put all your weight over the screw.

"Sizing Issue" 11/12/2010
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Rome 390 Boss Snowboard Bindings Men's
  • Pros:  Great technology,
  • Cons:  Problem for size 9 boots,
  • Flex:  mid

Experience:   If you wear a size 9 or 9.5 boot, I would recommend sizing up to the L/XL binding. I bought the S/M binding and ran into some problems. My Nike Kaiju 9.5 didn't fit the binding too well, the heelhoop of the binding was extremely hard to adjust to the maximum setting so that my boot could fit the binding (perhaps a manufacturing defect with the screws), and the box came with L/XL canted footbeds (which didn't fit the binding). I've exchanged for L/XL and now I'm happy with my setup.

Comments & Questions

SDHnum6
Small and Medium Bindings are for about size 6 shoes, there lies your problem. There is no fault to the binding you just didn't buy the right size. A size small shirt isn't defective if it can't fit a 6 foot 4 220 pound man.

Jigkidd
I don't know where you got your info SDH, but the size chart here and on the Rome website says that their S/M size fits from 4 to 9.5.

)(nfinit)(
you will be pushing the size on these at a 9 with Nike boots. I have ridden both S/M and L/XL with my 9's and it's definitely getting tight. But depending on the footprint of the boot their size chart is pretty close to right on.

"A leap in binding technology" 10/30/2010
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Rome 390 Boss Snowboard Bindings Men's
  • Pros:  cant foot beds, super adjustable, amazing comfort
  • Cons:  install is tough,
  • Flex:  soft

Experience:   There really is nothing at all lacking in the 390 BOSS. The 390 has been a standard for freestyle riding that can easily handle itself outside of the park and the 2011 BOSS will do more of the same. The adjust-ability Rome is known for is still present, along with asymmetrical highbacks and the new Vrod base increases already excellent response and feel. The absolute comfort of the cant footbeds (I'm using 3.5 degrees) for someone like me who was a few knee issues, these immediately helped.

  • Name: Rome 390 Boss Snowboard Bindings Men's
  • Pros:  Cantbed, straps, flex,
  • Cons:  None yet.,
  • Flex:  mid

Experience:   These bindings are amazing! I haven't ridden them much but from the first couple of times they have been so much better than anything I have previously used. They are great not only for the park but all over the mountain they perform really well. The cantbeds may not be for everyone but I personally love them, they make riding with a wide stance so much more comfortable! If your considering getting these bindings then do it, you will not be disappointed!!!!

"like a boss" 10/11/2010
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Rome 390 Boss Snowboard Bindings Men's
  • Pros:  cant base plates, comfort straps, snug toe strap
  • Cons:  base plate difficult to remove,
  • Flex:  mid

Experience:   these bindings are amazing. I demoed them on snow early in the year and fell in love. I was a huge fan of the 2010 390, but this year Rome got it right. The toe strap no longer causes the weird dimpling near the pinky toe that it did before and the interchangable base plate angle make control on reverse camber SO much better. The comfort ankle and snug fit toe straps make this binding incredibly responsive. The only down side to the binding is that the base plates are kind of hard to remove. So if you're going to use these bindings on more than one board, or need to tighten the screws to your board, it's an extra few seconds... no biggie though.
