"Liberate you feet with the Libertine" 11/11/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Rome Libertine
  • Pros:  Pureflex lacing (on models that have it), Excellent heel hold, Support front to back with side to side flex
  • Cons:  Colors are either vibrant or monochrome,
  • Fit:  mid
  • Flex:  mid
  • Shoe Size:  11
  • Boot Size:  10.5

Experience:   I originally rode the 2011 Libertine in March 2010 at Stowe resort in VT. The conditions consisted of lots of ice, but I started out with a 2011 Rome Mod and 2011 Rome 390 Boss bindings as my setup, so edge hold wasn't an issue. As soon as I put on the boots, I knew they were an immediate upgrade from my previous season Burton Hails. The Hails are a comfortable freestyle boot, but they were no match for the Libertine. Combined with the 390 Boss bindings, I had the single most pain free day of my riding last season. They also had no trouble telling the Mod what to do in order to keep a firm grip on the ice. The Pureflex lacing system is a breeze and does not loosen up as the day goes on, unlike some other lacing systems. The inner liner is warm, the spine on the rear of the boot is supportive, and the upcurl on the toe and heel mean large footed riders can ride a narrower board without fear of drag. All in all the Libertines are my go to boot right now, and it will take something head and shoulders better to get me to think otherwise.
