Sierra Says: All good things must come to an end. Nothing could be further from the truth about the Rome Mod. Still leading the pack with tried and true test tech, the Mod continues to give riders the ultimate in freestyle performance. If you want to go faster, bigger, and where none of your buddies have gone before, the Mod is what you need in a board.

Rome Says: The frontman of the Stay Positive Camber band, the new Mod is laid up with a bonanza of bodacious, bomb-the-hill technology for 2011. Carbon HotRods blast rider energy precisely into those spots where you load up ollies and nollies. Kevlar keeps it ballistic under your new V-Rod baseplates. Even lighter than before, the result is Eiki?s favorite deck for hitting extra large man-made and natural jumps. A super-tech park twin-tip for the rest of us humans.

Airpop Core Matrix- When you get a fancy snowboard like the Mod, the bamboo wood core is upgraded to reduce vibration and weight.

SuperlightBiax Laminate- Once again, the Mod is designed to be stronger and lighter than lessor snowboards.

SinterCarbon Base- If you have this, you better win every race! Absolutely the fastest.

HotRods: Carbon Reverse-V-Thin Carbon Tubes designed to channel power right between your binding and contact point.

Kevlar Impact Plates- The best, most bombproof protection under your bindings.

Park Edge Bevel-2 degree base/-2 degree side. Boardslide without fear and still rip a turn early in the morning!

"No need to Modify this!!" 8/18/2010

  • Name: Rome Mod Snowboard
  • Skill:  Advanced
  • Use:  Groomed,Off Trail,Park,Switch Riding,Ungroomed
  • Pros:  True Twin Camber All Mountain Freestyle, Huge Pop!! - Love the Camber, Rides Great in all terrain!
  • Cons:  Can be a touch soft riding fast in off-piste,

Experience:   This winter at the Bettypallooza at Stowe Vermont I got a day on the 2011 Rome Mod. It held up really well on the hard pack as I cranked up the speeds it locked into the firm snow. I then was sent one to ride while at Hood for the summer. I used it for everything from jumps to rails to pipe. I even rode it off the summit of Hood which has an impressive 1000 feet of big mountain riding, 40 degree plus, from the top! I ride a lot of rocker boards these days, and the Mod has been like a breath of fresh air to my riding. The camber is forgiving enough that it lets you lock onto rails and boxes with out a problem. I think that it might be a little easier at times to lock on with this board onto single barrel rails than a soft rocker board. Jumps big and small it gives you a ton of pop and grabs a landing with some teeth so you can stomp your spins and rip to the next feature. As the jumps get bigger the board performs better and better. Cambered All Mountain True Twin, is it too much to ask for a true twin all mountain camber board? It if for Burton. Thanks Rome for keeping a full on True Twin Camber Board in the line that can actually shine all over the hill. For freeriding the board holds up well in tight trees and I cannot wait to get mine out in the backcountry for some powder lines and cliff drops! Needless to say I highly recommend the Rome and I will for sure be on mine a number of days this season!! Also be sure to upgrade to a pair of the Rome Bindings.

Would the Mod and 390 bindings be an awesome park setup?

dougfagel
For sure. The Mod and 390 is what I rode much of the summer at Hood.

"This thing is killer!" 2/24/2011

  • Name: Rome Mod Snowboard
  • Skill:  Advanced
  • Use:  Groomed,Jumps,Switch Riding
  • Pros:  Super light, Tons of pop, Fun all over the hill

Experience:   This thing is legit. I'm riding the 158 and it kills it everywhere. Tons of pop for playing around all over the mountain, and stable for big booters in the park. It weighs a lot less than my Agent and is slightly stiffer. I have this paired with Cartel re:flex bindings and it's fantastic. Definitely recommend this one to anyone that'll listen!

"2012 MOD " 11/28/2012

  • Name: Rome Mod Snowboard
  • Skill:  Advanced
  • Use:  High Speeds,Switch Riding
  • Pros:  High Speed, Grippy, Great Pops
  • Cons:  Soft Base,

Experience:   So I have the 2012 version of this board. I have only rode it in spring and early season conditions. But I have about ten days on it already and am loving it. My other board is a Burton Hero and the MOD blows it away at speed at carving and with great pop. I would really recommend this board however I am slightly concerned about the base. I have dinged it up a bit already on these late/early conditions. I doesn't seem to be as resistant to those conditions as the HERO i have. I can't wait to use it in backcountry and powder. I also haven't been jibbing on it yet so i cant speak to the quality of that. It is great on all the jumps. Go get it.

"<3 camber" 6/22/2011
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Rome Mod Snowboard
  • Skill:  Intermediate
  • Pros:  positive camber, stable, poppy
  • Cons:  none!,

Experience:   I like to have one camber deck in the quiver at all times. I demo'd this board and i really enjoyed it. I found it stiff but still playful, very lively, and had great grip and stability. I took it all over the mountain and it felt great everywhere. I may pick this up next season as my camber deck.

"A Blast!" 3/7/2011
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Rome Mod Snowboard
  • Skill:  Advanced
  • Use:  Groomed,High Speeds,Park,Powder,Switch Riding,Ungroomed
  • Pros:  Pop, Pop, and more Pop, Switch , Anything and Everything

Experience:   This board is so much fun to ride. Tons and tons of pop, just as advertised. Absolutely launches off kickers, but in a very stable and predictable manner. Stiff enough to shred anywhere. Got this board as an all-mountain machine that could bring the fun specs of a park board to the trees and groomers, and found it. Better at holding an edge at high speed than you think, this thing can bomb. Even tears right through the chop. Get this thing and enjoy.
