Sierra Says: The Malamute is one of the stiffest and most aggressive freeride boots in the market. We recommend this boot to the aggressive and advanced freeriders that benefit from riding very stiff and responsive gear. It comes equipped with Salomon’s Power Liner, which has an ankle strap built into it to: 1) provide ultimate response and control for quick and precise carving transitions and maneuvers at the highest speeds, and 2) maintain the best support and heel-lock possible for reducing sloppiness and keeping you comfortable all day. This boot has probably the best heel-locking feature than any other boot in the market. Finally, the new Spring outsole provides great energy transfer from your foot to your board so you acquire more board feel. If you are looking to benefit from a very stiff and aggressive freeride boot to enhance your performance in the backcountry and on the steeps then check out the Malamute.

Salomon Says: The Malamute’s reputation as the best freeride boot in the world is well earned. Over ten years of innovation and solid performance for thousands of riders have kept the Malamutes in a class of its own. Full Custom fit foam and supportive anatomical architecture liner.

"Malamute" 2/2/2010
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Salomon Malamute
  • Pros:  Stiff, excellent response, great fit and heel hold,
  • Cons:  none,
  • Fit:  mid
  • Flex:  stiff
  • Shoe Size:  12-13
  • Boot Size:  12

Experience:   This is my second pair of Malamutes, the first lasting 6 seasons. I love this boot, the heel hold down is excellent and fit is perfect. This is a big mtn freeride boot good for the steep and deep as well as mach speed on the groomers! The new adjustable flex allows you to remove flex bars to make the boot softer

"super stiff" 9/26/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Salomon Malamute
  • Pros:  responsive,
  • Cons:  maybe too stiff, toe box a bit narrow,
  • Fit:  mid
  • Flex:  stiff
  • Shoe Size:  10.5
  • Boot Size:  9.5

Experience:   Bought this boot after riding F22's for a couple of years. Much more stiff, but also much more responsive. Although after probably 4+ hours the outside of my foot would start to hurt. Great high end boot, but just a bit too stiff for my liking. Built to last, thats for sure.

"Pair #3 and still loving them" 1/21/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Salomon Malamute
  • Pros:  Stiff, Warm, Fit my Feet
  • Cons:  Laces pop out one in a blue moon,
  • Fit:  mid
  • Flex:  stiff
  • Shoe Size:  12
  • Boot Size:  12

Experience:   I don't really like to give excellent, so these are are close to excellent without giving 5 stars (4.5 gold stars for you -- Jack Black). These are pair #3 for me, I love them great for hiking to find fresh lines at 3pm, great for hiking to an upper chair before the mountain opens for fresh lines. These boots help me feed my never ending hunger to find more powder. I really can't say anything bad about them except one in awhile the lace will pop out of its holder. If you want stiff boots and these FIT you properly then look no further. ---- Rook

  • Shoe Size:  10.5
  • Boot Size:  8.5

Experience:   I used to have a stiff boot for all-mountain/powder and a softer boot for the other days where i'm just messin around...then i got this boot...now this is the only boot i use. Stiff when you need it but very comfortable for everyday use...

"Salomon Malamute" 11/29/2009
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Salomon Malamute
  • Pros:  Stiff...will last a few seasons, Comfortable,
  • Cons:  Stiff,
  • Fit:  stiff
  • Flex:  stiff
  • Shoe Size:  11.5
  • Boot Size:  29

Experience:   This boot works great for me, and sticks like glue to my Chief bindings...I have to peel the boot off my bindings at the bottom of the hill. I feel it has great transfer of energy directly to the board. I can really lean on the boot which means less muscle fatigue...especially while traversing. It is a very stiff boot, but my foot is not cramped in any way. Easy on, easy off. I am very happy with mine...but it fits my riding style.
