Sierra Says: The Synapse is another great all-mountain freeride boot from the Salomon line-up, but is more versatile than the Salomon Malamute. Equipped this year with the Balance 3 liner, you will get a very supportive feel all over your foot due to the even distribution of lacing power. It will not only be easier to lace up the whole boot but it will have the capability of being cinched down tighter for maximum closure around the entire foot. This means that your foot no longer will be moving inside your boot without the boot responding. Basically, you will have more control at the higher speeds when both carving and maneuvering through the trees. Better yet, the new ?Spring? outsole improves board feel and energy transfer from your boot-to-board so you have all the necessary control for hard-carving freeriding. We recommend the Synapse for the intermediate to advanced riders that want a lot of response in their boots but do not want to have a rigid feeling. Become top-dog in a snap with the Synapse.

Salomon Says: Firepower for your feet, our superior blend of flex and feel. A versatile flex and full custom fit foam sit nicely atop the shock stopping Spring outsole.

"Awesome boots" 3/15/2011
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Salomon Synapse
  • Pros:  Soft lining, Conforms great to foot, Mid-stiff but forgiving
  • Cons:  Outer shell runs about a size larger than foot,
  • Fit:  mid
  • Flex:  mid
  • Shoe Size:  10
  • Boot Size:  9.5

Experience:   These boots are great. They conform really nicely to your foot with a really short break-in period. The ankle is a little small so be sure to try them on and move around a bit before purchase. When you find the right fit though, they're amazing. The lacing system keeps everything together and is easy to tighten quickly. Easy to get off as well. Another thing to look out for is the size of the boot itself. Mine are a 9.5 but it's a good thing I took the boot with me to get bindings because they are more like a 10 or 10.5 with the outer shell. Still an awesome boot. Highly recommended!

"Nice boot!" 4/5/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Salomon Synapse
  • Pros:  super comfortable, easy lacing system, heat moldable
  • Fit:  mid
  • Flex:  mid
  • Shoe Size:  9.5
  • Boot Size:  10

Experience:   So I've gone from a DC Allegiance 10.5 to the Salomon Synapse 10. I usually wear 9.5 Asics and Pumas. The Synapse is very comfortable and was nice and snug @ the heel. Though I came from a double BOA system, the lacing system on the Synapse is easy to use. I put quite a bit of force tightening these bad boys and the laces held up like a champ. Something to keep in mind, the outer shell runs big. Though these are 0.5 a size smaller than my DCs, the outside of these run pretty big. Keep that in mind when fittin these into your bindings. I use (L) Burton Exiles.

"Pleasantly Surprised" 4/1/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Salomon Synapse
  • Pros:  Fits quite well, Warm,
  • Cons:  Can be pricey,
  • Fit:  mid
  • Flex:  mid
  • Shoe Size:  12
  • Boot Size:  12

Experience:   I wanted to grab a pair of these as friends always recommended Salomon boots. I finally got a pair at a good price, and honestly was pleasantly surprised. They fit true to my size, without feeling overly tight. I had a slightly wide foot, and didn't find any issues with pressure on the sides of my feet while riding. It took me a few times to get used to the speed lacing system Salomon uses, but I finally figured it out, and found I really do like it. It's quick, and didn't come lose during riding like some of my lace boots. The boot is a mid-flex boot (in my opinion) making it good for all-mountain/freestyle boots that can also hold their own in the park.

"Comfortable, responsive, can be ridden all mountain boot" 2/11/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Salomon Synapse
  • Pros:  responsive, comfortable liner, quick lacing system
  • Cons:  difficult sizing,
  • Fit:  stiff
  • Flex:  stiff
  • Shoe Size:  8.5
  • Boot Size:  7

Experience:   The Synapse is a great boot, which I've ridden for 3 seasons. The Synapse is unbelievably comfortable. At the end of the day, my feet still feel relatively good. The lining is soft and seems to conform around the ankle and calf. When sized correctly, I get no heel lift. In general, I find Salomon boots to fit well, if you have a narrow heel and wider foot. I've ridden the boots on stiff and soft boards without any problem. My bindings are medium in flex. The boots are incredibly responsive. These boots are definitely on the stiffer side, so if you ride strictly park, you may want to look at the Dialogue or F20s. I ride all mountain. I don't find the boot to be fantastic in the park because of the stiffness. Sometimes a little give is good in the park! One notable thing is the sizing. Incredibly, I've downsized a size and half. Personally, I like my boots snug, but I noticed the F20s -- unlike the Synapses -- fit more true to size. You may want to try downsizing to get a snug fit with the Synapses.

"goes with burton custom and cartel EST" 1/17/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Salomon Synapse
  • Pros:  light, responsive, comfortable
  • Cons:  questionable durability of lacing system., black AND white? maybe they should choose a color?,
  • Fit:  mid
  • Flex:  stiff
  • Shoe Size:  9
  • Boot Size:  9.5

Experience:   I ride this boot in 9.5 with the burton custom 2010 154 and the burton cartel bindings. Freeriding (carving) on groomed resort runs is the main use. This seems to be a boot like the malamute, but not quite as stiff, just as the custom is not as stiff as the T6, or X series of burton boards. I did not want a boa lacing system because I don't quite trust it. The more traditional lacing system works for me but is slow and I can tell the little plastic toothed grooves that are designed to hold the laces in place were engineered for a single season of use, not much more. but we'll see... Just like brooks running shoes, you want to go up a half size maybe. I have a wider forefoot, a higher arch and a narrower heel than the average foot. boot still fits me.. The boot is very light, and real comfortable. It matches the equipment I have well in terms of stiffness so if you want to carve hard but don't want something quite as stiff and unforgiving as the malamute, this boot seems a good choice.
