"Gore-Tex Sessions Shell Jacket" 9/5/2010
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Sessions Shane McConckey
  • Pros:  Durable and absolutely water proof, Every feature a good rider needs,
  • Cons:  The fit is a little bit on the baggy side, Zipper needs a bit of time to learn,
  • Jacket Fit:  Just right
  • My Size:  XL
  • Fits Like:  XL
  • Description:  On bit on the baggy side but still a good fit.

Experience:   A bought this jacket at the end of last season and got to use it a few times. It was the first Gore-Tex piece of apparel I have purchased and it was well worth it. Completely water proof, the right amount and type of pockets, all in the right places; durable and well made being a Sessions jacket; and thin enough to be a shell but also warm enough to insulate you. The fit is a bit baggy for me but I have a bit of an odd body type.

Hey Ruberduky9, was this review for a newer multi-coloured Shane McConckey jacket or the older single coloured (gray or black) 'Shane' jacket?

"Funky Jacket" 4/10/2010
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Sessions Shane McConckey
  • Pros:  Gore-Tex,
  • Cons:  Tall collar, comes us way too high, Feels thinner/less durable than older Sessions jkt,
  • Jacket Fit:  Too big
  • My Size:  M
  • Fits Like:  L
  • Description:  Wide

Experience:   Havent worn it on the mtn yet, but the fit is a bit baggy. I'm 5'10 160 lbs and got a M. Fits like my 8 year old Sessions Gore-Tex jacket in L. Compared to the older jacket, this doesn't feel as durable. The older jacket feels thicker, even though it's the same material and liner. Time will tell if it holds up as well as the old one. I also don't like the super tall collar or the storm flap across the zipper.

"Good Jacket" 6/17/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Sessions Shane McConckey
  • Pros:  Gortex- 100% water/windproof, Nice color,
  • Cons:  Zip gets jammed a bit,
  • Jacket Fit:  Just right
  • My Size:  L
  • Fits Like:  L
  • Description:  Fits me perfectly.

Experience:   I liked this jacket. Im 180cm and 82kg and I found the large was a perfect fit. The zip can be a bit of a nuisance to do and undo, however there is a bit of technique involved and it is rarely jamming for me now. Finally i got the citron color and i love it.

"Poor fit" 5/8/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Sessions Shane McConckey
  • Pros:  Gore-tex, Design,
  • Cons:  Extremely poor fit, Plastic feel,
  • Jacket Fit:  Too big
  • My Size:  M
  • Fits Like:  L
  • Description:  The jacket is far too wide and a touch too long

Experience:   I got this jacket about 2 weeks ago so haven't had a chance to try it on the ice yet. However, the first thing you will notice is the sheer size of the thing. I usually wear a medium but this fits as like a large in both width and length. The second thing is that material has a very plastic feel to it leaving you with more the sensation of wearing a ponch than a decent snow jacket, although being a shell its not too bad. That being said, in every other aspect it scores well. I haven't had any trouble with pockets or zips and enjoy the high collar, and being made from gore-tex, has great water resistance. All in all, if your thinking about buying this jacket do so, just get one size smaller than usual.

Hey, good to see another Melbournian on this site. I'm thinking about getting this jacket and I'm unsure which size to get. I'm 180cm and 80kg. I was thinking of getting a large but all three of you reviews say their too big. Do you think a medium would fit me well?

"Not for me" 5/1/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Sessions Shane McConckey
  • Pros:  GoreTex,
  • Cons:  Zippers, Fit, Flaps over front pockets
  • Jacket Fit:  Too big
  • Description:  MooMoo

Experience:   I really wanted to like this jacket, but had to return it. I'm 5'10 155lbs with a medium build. I have a Sessions Softshell in XL, which fits great. I got this jacket in XL and it was just huge. It should have a WIDE LOAD warning on it. The length was long but bearable, but the width was too much to handle. If you can't see your feet over your stomach then maybe XL is right for you. The main front zipper is an exercise in frustration, frequently getting stuck. Also, there are flaps over the 2 main pockets, and the flaps face the wrong direction. I guess if you like to unzip your right pocket with your left hand this design is ok, but I prefer easy access to my pockets. This jacket looks great in the pictures and I'm sure the waterproofing is excellent, but the wide fit, poor zipper and akward pockets killed it for me.
