"great spring jacket" 4/7/2010
Helpful Review?   (7) Yes    (3) No

  • Name: Sessions Suburban Softshell
  • Pros:  water proof, built in mitts,
  • Cons:  should be baggier, longer sleeves,
  • Jacket Fit:  Too small
  • My Size:  XL
  • Fits Like:  L
  • Description:  snugg short in length

Experience:   i have bought the soft shells from sessions for the last 3 years.. their great water proof warm and great for that spring day.. i have 2 in large and one in xl and the size is very simalar.. i wish it was longer in length and in the arms. so i can not get so much snow in the hoodie a powder skirt and pit zips would be cool too..if its gonna be hot u may want to pass on it since u will be super taosty... the built in mitts are cool if u wearing the jacket around town adn get cold but you akward since the arms are short.. if your smaller this is great but may casue issues for true xl users

In contrast, I found the jacket too long. I ordered an XL cause many reviews thought it a tight fit and short. I'm 6"3 and 215 and the XL is too long and really a bit big too. I'd say order what you are. I probably should have gone large.....but maybe it would have been too small. Who knows. Great soft shell for the price though. atleast on the bigger side is comfy and not restrictive.

"McLovin' it" 4/13/2010
Helpful Review?   (3) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Sessions Suburban Softshell
  • Pros:  Softshell material is super-duper-comfy, Great mobility compared to a jacket, Catch-free zippers
  • Cons:  Low breathabillity rating,
  • Jacket Fit:  Just right
  • My Size:  XL
  • Fits Like:  XL
  • Description:  True to size

Experience:   Review after one day riding at Northstar...Started with spring-like conditions, turned to snow and 10-20mph wind in the afternoon. I wore this the entire time. Sessions website claims 10k waterproofing. I would say this is accurate. 5k beathability...I started getting warm in the morning from the spring-like conditions, and my arms stayed damp-feeling all day long. The jacket kept the moisture from the snow out, but it also kept the moisture of my body in. The breathability rating could use help with pit-zips or mesh panels added in the inner fleece to help with heat/moisture control. I found the sleeves to be a perfect length. The softshell material is great for a random wipe of the nose, without the fear of scratching yourself on rough fabric seams, velcro, or other jacket/glove hazard. The softshell material extends to the end of the cuff on the palm side, which helps keep the cuff from collecting as much snow. The elastic cuffs and jacket bottom will collect some snow and moisture, which in my opinion, should be made of the same softshell material to prevent this from happening. The integrated mittens are a novelty that will most likely never be used. There is a hole with a retractable thumb condom, which is not very comfortable, and the mitten for your four fingers is tight. The zippers are all catch-free!!! Granted, there are only 3 zippers, but the main zipper was easy to use, even with gloves. The two hand pocket zippers could use a larger pull to use with gloves, but the zippers are all catch-free!!! Overall, I now prefer this softshell over my bulky jacket for basically any riding conditions, simply because it is soooo soft and feels like I'm not wearing any outerlayer...yet I still have some protection against the elements. I have never been a fan of jackets, and would only wear one in blizzard-like conditions...I have finally found one to wear for any day on/off the mountain.

"Decent softshell but weird sizing..." 4/11/2010
Helpful Review?   (3) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Sessions Suburban Softshell
  • Pros:  Price,
  • Cons:  Fit, Mediocre material,
  • Jacket Fit:  Too big
  • My Size:  XL
  • Fits Like:  XXL
  • Description:  Weird... the Large was a bit snug and short but XL was too big...

Experience:   The concept of this jacket is great but the finish product is only mediocre... Sessions did such a great job with their snowboard jackets and pants but missed the boat on this softshell... First of all the fit on this thing is kinda wacky... I typical wear a Large in Sessions gear but when I got this in the mail the Large was a bit snug and short... then I got an XL and that thing fit like a XXL??? WTH??? I'm keeping the jacket anyways because its a GREAT jacket for those warm spring days and for the price I shouldn't complaint! Scoop it!

  • Name: Sessions Suburban Softshell
  • Pros:  good fit, built-in mittens, tons of styles and colors
  • Cons:  nope!,
  • Jacket Fit:  Just right
  • My Size:  L
  • Fits Like:  L
  • Description:  great fit. loose enough to add 1-2 layers under, but not too baggy

Experience:   awesome softshell hoodie. when i ride i prefer not to have a ton of bulk and this jacket is perfect. i throw a base-layer on and if its real cold i'll add in a fleece. it has a hole for you to thread through your headphones so you can listen to some tunes while boardin. looks great and i love how they have mellow designs (black magic) to more colorful ones (aston kiwi).

"Great for the spring/mild days" 5/5/2010
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (2) No

  • Name: Sessions Suburban Softshell
  • Pros:  Ability to give 4 thumbs up., Water and wind proof, Lightweight
  • Cons:  Inner fleece is like a sponge.,
  • Jacket Fit:  Just right
  • My Size:  XL
  • Fits Like:  L
  • Description:  XL isnt huge. Which is good for layering

Experience:   I got this softshell in all black and size XL. The fit is on the small side. If you usually wear a large, grab an XL. The smaller cut is great for layering. The built in mittens seem kinda useless, except for giving the ''four thumbs up.'' Been caught in a sudden, quick rainstorm and this thing kept me dry. It also keeps wind at bay. GReat for mild/spring weather.

"Great softshell" 5/3/2010
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Sessions Suburban Softshell
  • Pros:  Design, Useful,
  • Jacket Fit:  Just right
  • My Size:  L
  • Fits Like:  L
  • Description:  Right but short

Experience:   Great for those spring days or for strolling around. It is warm and comfy. It is not a tech high mountain jacket, but it doesnt pretend to be that, it is a softshell that gets its job well done. A bit short, this is not intended for the huge&baggy fit fan.

"Buy it." 4/20/2010
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Sessions Suburban Softshell
  • Pros:  Soft fabric and liner, Simple design, Well made
  • Cons:  None for what it is,
  • Jacket Fit:  Just right
  • My Size:  XL
  • Fits Like:  XL
  • Description:  Fits like a hoody (seems pretty true to size)

Experience:   This jacket is a steal. I had a DC Spectrum and currently have a 686 softshell and the Sessions is the best of the three. Simple but well-made. Clean design. XL fits perfectly (I'm 6'2 and 190 lbs). The sleeve length is just right (I have a 35 inch sleeve), which means the built in mitten makes the sleeves feel a little short, but it would work in a pinch.

Comments & Questions

thiago
does this jacket have those belts, which doesnt let snow get underneath the jacket?

SunFish
It has a rib knit band around the bottom like regular street jackets, but not an actual powder skirt like shell jackets have.
