"Simply the Best" 1/25/2012
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Smith I/O Snowboard Goggles Men's
  • Pros:  Wide Vision, Interchangeable Lens, Comfort
  • Cons:  Strap stretch, Large Buckle on the strap,

Experience:   As the title states, the I/O goggles are the best I've used. I have had Smith Phenoms in the past, so I knew the quality of Smith optics, but I am still blown away at the quality of the optics, the comfort of the goggles, and the ease of use. 1) Interchangeable lenses: my main mountain faces East, so you get extreme sun in the AM to near dark in the PM. I have never had a one lens fits all lens that actually was good at both. Now, with the Green Sol-X lens for bright days (gives everything a beautiful red/orange glow), and the visually stunning Sensor Mirror for dark and storming days, I don't have to worry what-so-ever. The lenses can be swapped out on a chairlift ride, and even under 2 minutes if they pop together correctly. 2)Optics: The lenses have yet to fog, and seem very tough. My Sensor Mirror CAME with a scratch on them... but they were on a great sale, so I kept them anyway. The scratch is still the only one on either lens, even though I ride A LOT of sketchy tree lines. They are crystal clear, and really reduce eye strain, even better than my Phenoms did! 3) Comfort: superb! The frames are very flexible, and I've ridden them from 40* to -20* F with no problems at all. The silicone ribbing on the straps is a nice feature that holds them to my helmet well. The special nose gap piece works as advertised, and my large face has no nose pinch problems at all. I wear the RED Mutiny II helmet with Perfect Compatibility! 4) Problems? The strap seems to stretch out a bit during the day, and the large strap clip in the back doesn't just love my helmet's strap. 5) Style: let's face it... you want these goggles because they look Hella Cool. Just buy them already.

"Near perfect goggles" 6/15/2013
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Smith I/O Snowboard Goggles Men's
  • Pros:  Lens system, Frame durability, Clip system
  • Cons:  Padding,

Experience:   Great goggle that let me down only once with a weird case of fogging between the two lenses for a whole day. Has never happened again fortunately, and has since been rock solid for the price. The foam padding is the only real permanent let down, being a lot more rough on the top layer - the layer that contacts your face - than even some cheaper goggles I've used. Might try a DIY fix with some fabric. I do love the clip strap, lens variety and accessories included though!

"Excellent goggle, not the best" 10/13/2012
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Smith I/O Snowboard Goggles Men's
  • Pros:  Very good optics, Good anti-fog, Easy lense changing
  • Cons:  Not for slender faces, Not suitable for eyeglasses, Unrealistic price

Experience:   The Smith I/O is a high end goggle packed with a plethora of technology to take on all riding conditions. This goggle is perhaps the first one on the market that received major attention for its lense interchange capability, being that changing the lense is quite easy with little practice. Every goggle comes with two lenses for two lighting conditions, but some rare combinations were less thoughtful (i.e.: two nearly identical lenses that were unsuitable for night use). The inboard side of the strap is lined with silicone to grip your helmet or head. The lense anti-fog is quite effective, even on humid days. Smith's signature snap coupling in the strap remains unchanged for about 15 years-- it's an acquired taste, not everybody likes it, but it's very useful for those who need to frequently remove the goggle. The optics that were developed for the I/O's release are on par with Oakley quality. Beware that the I/O's fit is most suitable for large American faces, otherwise you will heave gaps around the nose bridge and possibly brow. Additionally, my friend had to cut out some of the lining to clear his eyeglasses. The price is also unrealistically high, despite the rest of the market already caught up with their own multi-lense spherical goggles based on the I/O.

"Pretty Stellar Goggles" 4/9/2012
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Smith I/O Snowboard Goggles Men's
  • Pros:  High quality, Second lens included, Look great
  • Cons:  Sort of expensive, Lenses are a bit finicky,

Experience:   I love my Smith goggles!! I picked them up because they were some of the only goggles that actually fit my helmet (Atomic) and they were easily the best looking goggles out of the models I looked at. These goggles are quite a bit lower profile on your head than Oakley goggles for instance. If your helmet has a brim, this won't really matter, but since mine doesn't the lower profile was a must. The lenses on the I/O goggles are great. I got the red sol-X lens and the standard sensor mirror lens was included in the package. The first one is super in bright light and the second one does its job very well in low light. I've worn both of the lenses a few times now while snowboard this past season and have been very pleased. The only thing I'm a bit worried about is the fact that at least the red sol-X lens seems to be a bit delicate. I took maybe two tumbles in some snow and it seemed like the icy chips that were in the snow may have scratched the lens a tiny bit. You can't see it unless you really look hard, but the lens being that sensitive is not very encouraging. I try to take very good care of my goggles; I guess just not well enough. Anyway the strap has a nice layer of silicone or something around the inside that makes it stick to your helmet when you're wearing it, which is great. No need to worry about the strap flying off. It really is incredibly easy to change the lenses on the goggles. The first time you do it might take a little longer, but once you get the hang of it, you can change the lenses in less than two minutes, which is great. All in all, I'd definitely recommend these to anyone even at the full MSRP. I'm incredibly glad I picked these up!

"Great Goggles" 2/12/2012
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Smith I/O Snowboard Goggles Men's
  • Pros:  Visibility, Wont Fog,

Experience:   Bought these with my free goggle coupon from trusnow. They were a much needed upgrade from a pair of 10 year old Uvex goggles I had bought when I first started. Wore the glasses on a bright but misty day, the orange lense that came with worked out great. Never had a problem with any fog, just constant water buildup which was due to the conditions. They were very comfortable, no pressure points, just a nice pair of goggles. Lens changing is very easy to do, may need to invest in some more lenses for different conditions

"Great Goggles!" 10/19/2011
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Smith I/O Snowboard Goggles Men's
  • Pros:  Wide Range of View, Aesthetically Pleasing, Quick Interchangeability
  • Cons:  No good for smaller faces, Doesn't fit well with some helmets, Don't break the lock!

Experience:   These are a great pair of goggles! First of all some of the colorways with these goggles are absolutely beautiful! Buying lenses for these won't burn a huge hole in your pocket either. The fit is great if you have a medium to large size of a head/face/ For smaller faces I would suggest the I/OS' cause they're a little smaller. On that same note, since these goggles are bigger, the interface with some helmets are not very good, just a note if you wear a helmet like me. Overall a great pair of goggles and a good alternative to my Oakleys.

"My go to goggle" 10/17/2011
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Smith I/O Snowboard Goggles Men's
  • Pros:  Easy change lenses, Great viewing angles, Comfortable
  • Cons:  They don't fit everyone well,

Experience:   This will be my fourth year wearing these goggles. I have the 2012's and the design stays the same. More color ways and more lenses to help keep things going. The construction isn't top notch, I've had the foam pack in a lot and start coming off the goggles. However, Smith offers a lifetime warranty and they stick by their products. Excellent in my book but definitely try them on!

  • Name: Smith I/O Snowboard Goggles Men's
  • Pros:  Quick lens change, Comfortable, Wide FOV

Experience:   Theyse goggles are great. It's so quick and easy to swap out the lenses. You just have to pull the two switches up and pop out the lens. There is also a plethora of different lens choices for the variable light conditions.

"Solid gogg." 10/7/2011
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Smith I/O Snowboard Goggles Men's
  • Pros:  Great peripheral., Flexible frame (adjusts to your face)., Lens easy to switch.
  • Cons:  Fits pretty large,

Experience:   Great goggle, unfortunately they don't quite fit me. They fit more like a Prodigy (i.e. wide and large), whereas the I/OS fits more like a Phenom. The only slight knock I might have is that I'm not a big fan of the Sensor lenses, although Gold Sensor might be better. Not quite enough contrast for flat light, not quite enough LT% for night or storming.
