"Not Bad, especially for the price!!!" 4/7/2010
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Smith Maze
  • Pros:  light weight, price, comf
  • Cons:  at this price, seriously?, vents (lack of...),

Experience:   Very light weight helmet, semi-comfortable, it's a little on the bulky side.(I wear a Large, got a big dome...) there are 2 vents in the front and 2 vents on the back. all the vents are controlled by these flaps on the inside. (kinda lame but for the price you really can't complain...) I didn't wear this helmet in cold temp but I assume that since the vents are controlled by flaps made of fabric, it's prob not going to keep your dome very warm...

"Awesome Helmet" 12/30/2009
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Smith Maze
  • Pros:  Super Light Weight, Low Profile, Sturdy
  • Cons:  Goggle Clip,

Experience:   This helmet is great. With the helmet being so light and low profile its easy to forget that I have it on. This helmet has provided me with great protection and is good with ventilation even with extreme conditions. The only problem I have ran into is that the goggle clip in the back seems to be a bit flimsy which isn't a big deal, but other than that I love this helmet!!

  • Name: Smith Maze
  • Pros:  Super light, Simple design,
  • Cons:  goggle clip, bulky,

Experience:   Great helmet. It's super light, but kinda bulky. Only problem I have is the goggle clip. Don't ever take your goggles off when on the lift - It will fling up and fall off :(

"Solid feather weight helmet" 5/7/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Smith Maze
  • Pros:  Light, comfortable, quality material, low profile, Best helmet and competitive price,
  • Cons:  flimsy goggle strap clip,

Experience:   There are no hi-tec frills such as the dial that adjusts the ventilation and size as in the giro g10 but the maze does have 9 vents, is more attractive and lighter. I went back and forth between buying the giro g10 and the maze for a while and after the realization that I shouldn't have to adjust the size of a helmet if it fits right (my head stays the same size) and i could live with out the ventilation adjustment, I decided on the maze. I am super stoked I chose the Maze!!! Helmet is a great low pro helmet that is light weight, looks sick and is comfortable. It has a similar look and function to my last helmet (giro shiv) but is lighter, more comfortable and a much lower profile. This helmet blows away all other helmets in its price range and competes and beats many of the helmets in $100 and above price range. It is one of the best helmets and I don't see my self needing another helmet for awhile. The liner is a higher quality than the shiv but similar in that it is removable with velcro. There is no extra padding so the size you choose is the size you get. I measured my head to be 58-59 cm and the large fits perfect. Go to the smithoptics.com web-site for sizing as many online sites list the wrong sizing. Helmet keeps me warm and I was surprised that the 9 vents provided relatively good ventilation. I haven't used it in 15 degree weather yet so not sure if it will keep me warm there but my guess is that it would as the ear pads are great. I forgot to mention that it is much cheaper (bought mine for on sale for $50) than the g10. The only con is that the goggle strap clip feels kinda flimsy. The clip has preformed so far but my guess is it could break pretty easy if you miss handle or fall hard on the back of my head, but I don't plan on doing either....I hope.

"Uber Light Brain Bucket" 4/14/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Smith Maze
  • Pros:  Light, doesn't way much, the opposite of heavy, Thin profile, doesn't look like a football helmet, good venting, no gaper gap

Experience:   Let me start by saying that I have a narrow face. Because I am a creature of Vanity, this has kept me from wearing helmets for most of my life, because they tend to make me look like darth vader. This helmet, however, is different. It's super low profile, and doesn't diminish my sexyness too much on the mountain. I have a-frame goggles and they fit wonderfully with no gap. My lady rocks same helmet, also with no gaper gap. Good venting for the warm days, cozy earmuffs for the chilly ones. I can't really imagine helmets get better than this.

  • Name: Smith Maze
  • Pros:  comfy, light weight, low profile
  • Cons:  goggle clip ,

Experience:   This helmet is awsome! i bought it because it was very low profile on my head and was very comfortable. when paired with goggles i prefer to put the strap inside the helmet because if you wrap it on the outside it barely fits. overall awsome helmet
