"VERY light & VERY responsive" 2/28/2013
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Union Force SL Snowboard Binding
  • Pros:  Super lightweight & responsive, Soft cushioned full footbed, Comfortable straps
  • Cons:  Took a little time to dial in toe strap -slippage, Toe strap a bit sticky, snow collects under hinges, No quick release tab on toe strap
  • Flex:  stiff

Experience:   I absolutely love these. Once strapped in, you sometimes forget they're there because of how lightweight they are and how comfortable the straps are against your boot. I definitely appreciated all the adjustment options available and you really should take the time to create the perfect fit with your size boot because I had issues with the toe cap slipping off at first until I moved in the heelcup. This binding is rated pretty stiff but I would say it's between mid and stiff. The vertical stiffness and torsional forgiveness in the highback makes for a very aggressive yet still playful ride. There's plenty of foam padding along the footbed and underneath the binding which makes for very cushioned landings. Response is excellent, can't say much more about it. My only dislikes are... the leather on the inner areas of the strap wear away pretty quickly, snow/ice easily collects under toe strap and ladder hinges making it hard to lower the cap over the toe, there's no quick release tab on the toe strap (but the ankle strap has one), and the forward lean dial doesn't lock into place very well. Overall, I still give this binding 5 stars as it has become my favourite for All Mtn, paired with my Thrive Renegade that rips all! I highly recommend the Union Force SL!

what size bindings do you have and what size boots? thinking about getting this bindings and I have 9.5 nike boots. thanks

fj5
I got size M/L (8-11) and I have size 8.5 Nike Zoom Force 1 and size 9 DC Park boots. The Nike ZF1 is larger profile than the DC Park and actually take up more space. My adjustments are pretty close to the middle setting of every range option (ex. heelcup), but I had to adjust the toe strap tighter. Hope that helps! Given your 9.5, I think you should go with M/L as well. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like there are any more M/L in stock here. Good luck!

"Preferred over cartels by me" 1/29/2013
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Union Force SL Snowboard Binding
  • Pros:  light, adjustable, crazy response
  • Cons:  ladies won't step back,
  • Flex:  stiff

Experience:   Tried these bindings as my introduction to Union bindings. Previously, I have ridden '08 Cartels and an old pair of Drake F-50's. I was expecting a high level of response, as I was used to riding stiff Cartels. I was completely impressed. The toe to heel response is solid, and feels more natural than other binding I've ridden. Also, the footbed is incredibly comfortable under my boots. The response is comparable or even exceeds that of Cartels. My feet feel solidly connected to the board without the binding being cranked tightly. The straps are much more comfortable than burtons. I've found the ratchets to be smooth, but the toe ratchet can be stubborn. Slap them and they're fine. I love the adjustable heelcup. Such an advantage when setting up the binding. In general, the adjustibility of this binding is great. The only thing I wish were different is the toe strap, as it only has one position. Although it's only been half a season, the paint on the heelcup is chipping in areas and some of the padding foam is scratchy. If you're someone who gets annoyed by this, maybe look at other bindings. Overall, I freaking love these bindings. Light, solid, responsive bindings that don't cause any foot discomfort. I haven't been on any other binding since trying these.

"May the FORCE be with you" 2/15/2012
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Union Force SL Snowboard Binding
  • Pros:  feather light, staps, no slip grip
  • Cons:  little stiff (no biggy),
  • Flex:  stiff

Experience:   Got these a week ago and rode them a few times. They are the lightest bindings I have ever had the pleasure of riding. Paired with the sierra crew, no lie together theyre like a pound and a half. Toe straps are versatile for whatever your preference. Not the best for an all jib rider cause theyre so stiff, but are great for all park. These are insane. My buddy I ride with all the time has the forces, and they are nice, but it you have the extra bucks get the sl's over the regular forces. The difference is incredible.

"Not a bad pair of bindings" 1/31/2012
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (2) No

  • Name: Union Force SL Snowboard Binding
  • Pros:  stiff, feels solid,
  • Cons:  rachets aren't as smooth as burtons,
  • Flex:  mid

Experience:   I've ridden this bindings on an Evo board. The board was pretty much like my board except it wasn't as fast or not as light. So I could tell that the bindings were on the stiffer side so more responsive. The bindings are definitely not cheapy made. If you're a jibber like rails all day I wouldn't suggest these but if you're between jibs and booters this is not a bad pair of bindings to ride on. I have Un Inc EST bindings and these ride a little harder, not as forgiving.

"Love it <3" 11/21/2012
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Union Force SL Snowboard Binding
  • Pros:  Stiff, Light, Great feel
  • Cons:  Strap bugs,
  • Flex:  stiff

Experience:   Bought these bindings like a year ago. I ride them on a Never Summer Proto CTX. I would recommend them to anyone! There really light, responsive, comfortable and also look great. You can adjust them in anyway you want. (I'm not to good at this so I tried some until it worked for me.) Only con is that the toe straps are some times hard to release. Too bad they were really expensive here in the Netherlands haha.

"Love!" 11/20/2012
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Union Force SL Snowboard Binding
  • Pros:  Light, Stable, Durable
  • Cons:  Toe ratchet sticks somewhat,
  • Flex:  mid

Experience:   Bought these bindings over a year ago now and I feel confident in recommending these binding to anyone that asks. I started last year on a loaner board and some old janky Solomon bindings, and these bindings were my first big purchase for my new sport. I've run them over 40 trips now and have no real complaints. In fact, the only problem I've had is the toe straps can be hard to release; however that problem now only occurs on the front foot so it'll go away as the bindings break in. Tons of adjustment points are nice, but I'm a noob so once I got a snug fit I haven't adjusted them once. Lifetime warrantee on the baseplate is nice and bring able to swap out parts is a plus but I haven't really found anywhere that sells those parts. As far as the ride goes, these bindings are a little closer to stiff than mid flex. Light agile and responsive are the first descriptors that pop into mind. I'm not yet able to get more than minimal straight air in the park but it ain't the bindings that hold me back, it's my garbage Ollie skills. Long story short, buy these bindings, worth every penny!

"the Force is strong with this one" 3/22/2012
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Union Force SL Snowboard Binding
  • Pros:  light, stylish, interchangeable parts
  • Cons:  sometimes hard to unstrap toe,
  • Flex:  mid

Experience:   these bindings are amazing. the first thing i noticed is that they are extremely light weight. i didnt think much of it at first, in fact, i thought that it might negatively affect performance. after i got them set up and strapped in for the first time my worries were blown away. my boots felt more secure than my old cartels i used before these. i never felt more comfortable in any other binding. it just felt natural. i categorized this as mid flex but i would say that it felt like it was borderline stiff flex. it took much less effort to get my board to do what i wanted it to do and the reaction is much quicker. i do not do much park so i cant really speak on its performance there but i had no issues with taking these bindings all over the mountain. on trail or off trail... slush, powder or groomers. it felt good on all. supposedly all the parts are interchangeable. that is just what i hear, i have no experience with this. i was truely amazed at the capabilities of these bindings. they are playful in an aggressive manner. it really brought out the potential in my board that i never knew existed.

oh yea, i forgot to mention, i had some issues getting my toe straps off. i dont know if it is just me or if it needs a little bit longer of a break in period but it is something i fought with from time to time. also, my girlfriend got some new unions... i forget which ones, but she has the same issue with hers. it isnt a big deal or a deal breaker for me though
