Sierra says: The very stiff and aggressive boot for the all-mountain free-ride guy. The Contra gives a reliable amount of response in any situation, such as through thick tree runs, or when shreddin gnarly steep cliff runs. The Cork footbed, 3D molded tongue, Quadfit Custom Thermal Liner, and Boa Tongue Guides offer the up-most tightening precision and snug comfort fit for riders. We recommend this boot for the advancing intermediate to advanced rider.

Vans says: Whether it is waist deep steeps or that cliff you've been chasing all winter, the Contra will give you the freedom and control to take it wherever you want. An anatomically designed, injection-molded backstay is there for support, torsional flex and maximum response. The all-new Quadfit Custom thermal liner, RECCO Rescue Reflectors, and Vans BOA Coiler Closure System pack the punch to finish the job.

"Durable and snug fit" 1/21/2011
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Vans Contra
  • Pros:  BOA,
  • Fit:  mid
  • Flex:  stiff
  • Shoe Size:  10.5
  • Boot Size:  10.5

Experience:   These are my first pair of BOA boots. I got them after my old, laced Airwalks fell apart, and it has totally changed my snowboarding experience. Being able to quickly and securely tighten my boots without wrestling with laces is great. I've used them for a couple seasons now and they show very little wear. My only issue with the boots is that they occasionally squeeze the outside of my upper ankle a bit, which can get painful. This may be due to the particular shape of my foot, but it's probably exacerbated by the stiffness of the boot. But I'd never even be able to tighten the boot that much without the BOA, so it's a tradeoff I'm willing to accept.

Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Vans Contra
  • Pros:  Been up more than 50 days with this boot, Cable has not broken,
  • Cons:  Almost lost the knob,
  • Fit:  stiff
  • Flex:  stiff
  • Shoe Size:  12
  • Boot Size:  13

Experience:   This is boot is stiff but very reliable and easy to get in. It is a bit wide, so make sure you fit the binding well with it. Boot is very warm and comfortable. The boa system is a must and works perfect with my 686 boa compatible gaiters.

"Great Boots!" 12/4/2008
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Vans Contra
  • Skill:  Intermediate
  • Pros:  Heel hold, Comfortable, Easy lacing, Durable, Traction, Good quality, Warm, Breathable, Waterproofing, Easy in & out, Well known brand
  • Fit:  average

Experience:   I got these for a trip out to Whistler, I didn't have enough time to properly break them in but that didn't matter. They were pretty comfortable out of the box, very stiff though. The only thing stiffer that I have tried was the burton Driver. These are perfect for me as I am a big guy who likes a nice stiff boot. This is the easiest boot I have ever had as far as on/off, takes seconds and you are ready to go. Great hold, good feel and they are Vans, what more could you ask for?
