"Odd shaped toebox" 12/12/2011
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Vans Encore Boa Snowboard Boots Men's
  • Pros:  BOA lacing system, Great construction,
  • Cons:  Short, square toebox,
  • Fit:  mid
  • Flex:  stiff
  • Shoe Size:  8.5
  • Boot Size:  8.5

Experience:   I've been wearing these boots for a couple fo seasons now and they still look like they are brand new. I get up on the mountain approximately 20-25 times per season and wear them around Whistler quite a bit. I'm very happy with the construction and they keep my feet nice and warm. My only complaint about these boots is the shape of the toebox. They fit very much like the traditional VANS shoes and are rather square/flat across the top of the toes. I would prefer a more rounded shape to the toebox since normal feet have a bit longer 1st and 2nd toe. I've never seen a foot where the toes are all the same length and flat across the top.

"Best for a wider foot" 12/2/2011
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Vans Encore Boa Snowboard Boots Men's
  • Pros:  Easy to get on and off, Comfortable all day,
  • Cons:  Boa needs tightening now and then,
  • Fit:  stiff
  • Flex:  soft
  • Shoe Size:  6.5
  • Boot Size:  6.5

Experience:   I have ridden a full season in these boots and I love them I have a wider foot and I found this was the only boot I tried on that accomodated that. The inner lacing system is fantastic and has never come loose, the boa I find I need to tighten once after my walk from the car and then usually once after the first run, then once later in the day - not really a big deal and nothing that affects my riding because lets face it, it only takes a second and you can do it on the chair! The only down side I found with these boots is a bit of pressing on the top of my little toe but once I wore them in, I found that subsided. I can easliy do a full day riding/hiking in these boots and still walk at the end of the day!

Just to clarify, I have the womens ones. The default went to the mens but I am sure they ride the same anyway!

"Curious if they ride as good as they feel" 11/6/2011
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (1) No

  • Name: Vans Encore Boa Snowboard Boots Men's
  • Pros:  Comfortable right out of the box, BOA lacing is quick, Simple style
  • Fit:  mid
  • Flex:  mid
  • Shoe Size:  10
  • Boot Size:  10

Experience:   I have only been able to try these on in the store, but they felt great there and I would like to see how they do on the mountain. I hve been riding Burton Rulers for years now and love the speed zone lacing system, but the last pair I bought keeps bothering me with a pressure point from the top of the tongue into my shin.

Comments & Questions

BabyG
I find the top of these boots is actually where they are loosest (but still offer support), although I do turn the tounge out a bit when I lace up cause I ride pretty duck and I like to make sure the padding is still on my shin. They are as comfortable to ride in as they are to walk in in the shop.

"Not Bad" 9/20/2011
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Vans Encore Boa Snowboard Boots Men's
  • Pros:  Nice Look, BOA is very convenient,
  • Cons:  BOA system loosens up after a short run,
  • Fit:  mid
  • Flex:  mid
  • Shoe Size:  8.5
  • Boot Size:  9

Experience:   I really like the look and feel of the boot, it does run a little tight on one of my feet, but it's bearable. The only real issue I have with the boot is that the BOA system loosens up after a short run. It's pretty annoying and probably a little dangerous if you're doing any high speed runs. Overall though, the boot is not bad, I might just have a defective BOA system.

"Good Boot" 4/6/2011
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Vans Encore Boa Snowboard Boots Men's
  • Pros:  Good feel ,
  • Cons:  NONE,
  • Flex:  mid
  • Shoe Size:  10.5
  • Boot Size:  11

Experience:   These are really comfortable. The only con is once you tighten the inner lacing it can still slide loose. I believe RIDE and Burton have a place to lock in the inner lace so it doesn't slack after hours of riding. BOA is the way to go. The old school laces are a pain to tighten up. Getting them on and off is a cinch. Even walking around in them they have great grip so you don't slip on that little hill from hanging up your board and walking to the bar. Ha I pity those silly boots the plankers wear!

"Good boot for a good price" 3/24/2011
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Vans Encore Boa Snowboard Boots Men's
  • Pros:  Comftorable, Easy boa system,
  • Fit:  mid
  • Flex:  mid
  • Shoe Size:  9.5
  • Boot Size:  8.5

Experience:   I bought these boots a few weeks ago to replace my 07 salomon boots... I must say the encores blow away the salamons. The salomons were a bit more comfy walking around the mountain but when it comes to riding i love the encores. So much more control then what i had before.

"Not Impressed" 2/23/2011
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (1) No

  • Name: Vans Encore Boa Snowboard Boots Men's
  • Pros:  Boa System,
  • Cons:  Too Stiff, Cheaply Made,
  • Fit:  stiff
  • Flex:  stiff
  • Shoe Size:  11
  • Boot Size:  10

Experience:   The stitching that holds the boa system in place started coming apart on the second week of riding, by month two the boot wouldn't get tight around me foot at all. I also think I might not like this boot as much cuz the guy in the store told me that the boot would soften out a lot after a couple weeks of breaking them in, that never happened. This boot might work for some, but it didn't work for me.

"Love the BOA system" 2/11/2011
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Vans Encore Boa Snowboard Boots Men's
  • Pros:  So easy to adjust, Easy in and out,
  • Cons:  Can only adjust one zone,
  • Shoe Size:  12
  • Boot Size:  13

Experience:   The BOA system is amazing. It allows you to adjust on the go (if you can keep your balance) and whilst on lifts or in gondolas you can loosen your boot quickly to give your feet a rest. The only drawback is that you can only adjust the whole boot, there is no zone tightening like with some Burton boots, but if you get the right tension then these boots are good for all day riding. They are also quite flexible, so hanging out in a bar whilst or after riding is not a problem and you dont look like a walking pigeon like people who wear ski boots

"Decent boot..." 2/7/2011
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Vans Encore Boa Snowboard Boots Men's
  • Pros:  Looks good, Boa system hasn't failed me... yet,
  • Cons:  Some tears in the outer part of the boot, Feels pinched on the top,
  • Fit:  mid
  • Flex:  mid
  • Shoe Size:  10.5
  • Boot Size:  10.5

Experience:   Not too shabby of a boot, though will be looking for a different one for next season. After maybe a dozen trips down the mountain, there have been some holes/rips that have shown up on the outer part of the boot. Nothing that let's moisture in too bad, but I can tell it will only be a matter of time. Also it feels that the top of the boot pinches my leg, despite hours of trying to play with it and getting it set right. Either it's too loose and feels sloppy, or just right with a hint of pain.
