Sierra Says: You will see this ski in the locker room at resorts like Squaw Valley, Sun Valley, or Vail more than any other ski for the simple reason is that it performs well in all conditions. With the best of both world of good edge hold on-piste and maneuverability off-piste solidifies this ski as a top seller for ski shops. And with the integrated wide ride binding from Marker, your responsiveness just got that much better.

Volkl Says: The Unlimited AC50 is yet another example of how Motion iPT Wide Ride brings the versatility of wide, big mountain skis to a new height. The shape of 128-85-112 is wide, yet paired with the iPT Wide Ride, it's incredibly nimble. For good skiers who like to bust through crud and cruise through powder, yet still have a ski that can truly rip the groomers, the AC50 is the best solution we've ever offered.

"Best skies i ever rode" 8/20/2010
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Volkl Unlimited AC 50 w/ iPT Wide Ride 14
  • Pros:  very wide, smooth landing when you jump, binding tention 5-14 , easy to carve on the powder and are stable on ice
  • Cons:  for more advance skiers,

Experience:   I am 182cm tall and 84kg without gear I bought the 177cm Volkl AC50 then suit me just right. I tried them on powder and on ice patches on the slopes. it is very stable on powder and what I especially like they are stable on ice patches, on my old skies I used to fall almost every time on ice but with AC50 that never happens. I consider myself to me intermediate to advance and after trying the skies on I understood that you need some skill before you can ride them, but if you are intermediate these skies will take you to advance and further, I cant wait to try them on black diamonds. one thing about the skies they ride better on high speed, the faster you go the more you realize the potential of these skies they are very stable on high speed. the wide ride 14 bindings have some sort of slider panel under the toes which help the rider to carve easier with less energy using the kinetic power of the weight and gravity. another thing they land very nice when you jump with wide skies like that it is much more comfortable and stable to land. I would definitely recommend these skies to everyone who wants to go above intermediate and do backcountry, heli, and all mountain skiing you will not regret a dollar you spent on them (I know I don't). heavy rider the wide ride bindings have tension from 5 to 14 you will never loose the skies on even very steep slopes they can withstand a lot of pressure before they shoot you off, for light skiers the 5 is enough to start so don vary you'll be fine. beginners you can buy it straight away but that will be extremely hard on you if you do not know the basics, don't learn on these skies rent or buy something simpler to start with then after a while grab AC50 and the will take you to the limit.

"On the edge" 5/11/2010
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Volkl Unlimited AC 50 w/ iPT Wide Ride 14
  • Pros:  Excellent edge-to-edge transition on hard pack, Good float,
  • Cons:  Slightly heavy, Doesn't go well backwards ,

Experience:   I've skied the AC50 in Tahoe and Queenstown New Zealand and they really are an all mountain any condition ski. The edge to edge transition on hard pack is extremely good (with above average technique) and is a ski that builds the confidence of the skier. The ski does get slightly heavy as you get on the last lift of the day and at significant speed (45mph+)the ski can sometimes snag an edge.. if you get lazy

"All mountain train ride experience" 6/13/2011
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Volkl Unlimited AC 50 w/ iPT Wide Ride 14
  • Pros:  ice packs handling, stability and speed, IPT WR binding works well
  • Cons:  heavy, require powerful legs to get the most out of it,

Experience:   These are definitely good skis - a true all mountain performer. Surprising carving ability for the width and stiffness. Ice is not a problem. Speed is what AC 50s like. You need to be very good physically to handle a pair of these, especially legs have to be strong to enjoy the skis. They are stiff so consider that with your preferences for skiing. Heavy, heavy and bulky are the negatives from my experience.

"Great skis" 12/29/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Volkl Unlimited AC 50 w/ iPT Wide Ride 14
  • Pros:  Fast, Stable, Very good on everything
  • Cons:  Price,

Experience:   I tried this skis from a Store last week. I have to say that I wasn't very familiar with Volkl (I had only tried some Racetiger before), because I used to ride Atomic SX 11 and now Head Supershape iSpeed, but I liked them. They can ride almost everything, and because of it's wide waist they can really float. They have a big radious and a stiff flex, which makes them very very stable. They grab like hell. It doesn't matter what kind of snow. The most amazing thing is their energy, it's explosive. Very very fast and responsive. Despite they are quite versatile and easy to control, they're obviously for experienced skiers who want a fast, powerful and imperturbable stability ski. If you don't want to spend so much, you should go for the AC30.

"Great all mtn. skis" 12/20/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Volkl Unlimited AC 50 w/ iPT Wide Ride 14
  • Pros:  stable, Can go anywhere,
  • Cons:  Price,

Experience:   This is a great all mountain ski. Has plenty of width underfoot to keep you on top of the snow. Works great in chopped up snow. Easy to turn and works great on the groomers, especially with the wide ride bindings. Volkls are a bit more expensive than some of the others in the category but they are worth it. Great ski.

  • Pros:  Fast, Powerful,

Experience:   I just demo'd this ski yesterday and plan on purchasing a pair in the very near future. This is a fast, powerful ski not for the faint of heart. I simply had a blast tearing around the mountain on the AC50. It's a true Volkl race platform ski.

"VOLKL ROCKS" 11/28/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Volkl Unlimited AC 50 w/ iPT Wide Ride 14
  • Pros:  Stable, Easy and fun to ski,
  • Cons:  Expensive,

Experience:   So I have gone thru alot of skis in my life. From the old school straight skis to the 1st generation of shaped and now I have landed on planet Volkl and could not be happier. I had always wanted to ski Atomics and Volkl's. I can't say anything bad about my Atomics, but I can say that I love my Volkl's. They set me back a few bucks but they make skiing so easy. I can't say they took me to a new level - not that I am a that great of a skier - it's just that I am kind of older now and wanted to find a ski that could keep me skiing the whole mountain at my age. The only one thing that I have found significantly different is that you can't be lazy with these dudes. I got kind of lazy a couple of times and found myself on the ground. This was only the case on hard pack. Nor would I really consider it a bump ski. More of an all/big mountain ski. So old or young, I highly recommend Volkl. Cheers and best of luck in your search.

"Awesome Skis" 10/19/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: Volkl Unlimited AC 50 w/ iPT Wide Ride 14
  • Pros:  Great edge, Fairly light (about 4 lbs. with bindings), Easy to keep momentum
  • Cons:  Mounting bindings was difficult to figure out,

Experience:   These skis are Awesome! I've owned these since Feb. 2010 and still have not declined in performance. They look great too, the one pictured are slightly lighter than the skis are in person with almost a metallic finish. Overall the skis ride extremely smooth and are very fast. The skis turn and land very smoothly and are great for backcountry skiing. These skis adapt quickly to icy and pow conditions and I have to say these are the best skis I've ever owned.
