Yes they all do. Except the con-dom has a feebase. Its pretty much like having scoop tech all around your board.

i'm pretty sure the OLS version of the japanese x8 does not have scoop... but infiniti would know as he owns one.... pretty sure scoop was released this year with the Fix and Seven.... but i defer to the man who owns one. pretty big difference between scoop and no-scoop.

the burton rider service in the states, japan, and even active ride shop said that the scoop tech is only on the 09, not the 07/08 late realease.

Thats not the only difference with the X8V. The X8V was orginally made in Japan were park wasn't so hot, so the earlier models were stiffer, however this years model has a feel of 2. Thats less that the US model the X8! Its a buttery soft board full of pop because of the Carbon 1-beam (also availiable on the un...inc). But thats not all, it has a dragon fly core along with vapor skin. This board also comes with the new 09' tech, the scoop.

It helps you to stop hanging up on the edges on those rails, and crappy old boxes. It also comes with ICS. This board is clearly on top. Everything that the US model has exept more! (I-beam and scoop, feel of 2)

Not only that but it also works great in the pipe, and pow!

The ICS EST system really makes a difference when riding. I rode the 08 Burton Custom with Custom Bindings and that was a sick ride. Then a few weeks later i rode an early release Burton ICS Custom with Cartel EST bindings. If i didnt know that they were both Custom snowboards when i rode them than i would have thought that they were not even remotely the same board.

The ICS EST system makes everything more fluid when riding. It is pretty sick. Im definitley stoked off this new innovation to snowboarding.

I'll clear this up for everyone.

X8V is not just an X8 with Vaporskin. The X8V has vapor skin, a Dragon Fly core (i.e. the same wood core as the other X boards), stainless steel edges and lastly, a different sidecut. So basically it's a different board. For '08/'09 X8V will have ICS and it will come in 151.5, 154.5 and 157.5.

As far as where it's sold, it is technically Japan only. However, the black '07/'08 version (which only came in 154.5) was sold in limited quantities at the Burton Soho store for a retail price of $650. There was also a late release '08 151.5 that was blue/pink and had ICS. As far as I know, the 151.5 never made it to the Soho store but maybe they have one or two "in the back". There is still a 154.5 '08 X8V at 40% off in Soho as of a couple days ago.

Not sure if there is spoon tech on the tip/tail for '09.

From time to time we do get in some Japanese release, but it's not super common. Two seasons ago we had the Auras, this year we had the Avenue..... so you never know!

Just a note on the above, Burton rep told me that the Serows will be Japan-only again starting next year.

I tried on the XIII's at the Burton show room sale a few week back... at least I think I did, they were labeled as the "Decadence Mark XIII's". Super comfy, soft flexing boot with an Imprint 4 liner. Ungodly expensive though since they are part of Burton's "luxury" Mark XIII line. They were selling at like $280 at the sale (more than the Ions), so I imagine they retail close to $400. Probably made with full leather shell or something. Makes sense though if you look at what Burton is charging on the rest of the Mark XIII line.

from the graphics the topsheet looks like the Fix near the nose and tail. I thought the graphics on the Fix topsheet were to show the scoop. Does the X8V have scoop too?

yea, but if i take it up to the mtn, and decide partway thru the day that i wanna take a break from all the pow in the bowls, and i wanna hit some groomers and be able to straight line it, i don't want a board thats gonna want to wash out like most tapered pow boards

So, if you're looking for a pow board, have you considered the Malolo and Fish? The Custom X would be more of an All-Mountain/Freestyle beast.

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to contribute much for this winter because of 15-hour shifts everyday and my weekends consisting of snowboard trips. It hasn't really given me much time to do much. I finally have this week off, some time to relax.

Its a sick set up, but i've been using my Seven with cartels cuz in the midwest, theres no need for such a big board meant for all mountain. But i still use it when i'm in CO or tahoe or up in Montana

right now 2010 is being locked down for many companies. they're always designing two years out of when they hit the shelves for us consumers. graphics are irrelevant. some peeps i know are riding 09 unincs with 08 customx bases and various other topsheets (think that one through). it all keeps you guessing.

this years top trends from my POV definitely are:

chicks, chicks, chicks
more neon
welcome back to the late 80s/early 90s (see above two posts)
enviro friendly=greenwashing
collaborations with artists that you never heard of
rockers

some seriously awesome stuff for 09. can't wait to actually ride it.

The pros always ride next years gear, which is why it is really hard to get a hold of. They design most the gear, and have "unique" equipment, while all of us have the boards they designed the year before. That is why you see all the pros rocking setups you have never seen. Right now they are probably designing the boards they will be riding next year, and we will be riding in two years. If that makes any sense at all...

if you know how to handle it... you can ride a short board as long as width allows it.

I was watching Terje's Season Pass recently and could not figure out which boot Terje was rocking. It looked like this boot but was probably the 08 Sabbaths. He had on the gear in the pics from the 08 catalog.

My sneak peek review of the Burton Fix....

I haven't ridden a banana but hope to to compare.

The Burton Fix is a ~$450 retail board with pretty simple, clean graphics. It's got a park fly 2 core and standard burton tech like 10:45 sidewalls, sintered base, etc. It is a midwide with the longest length in 162 for now.

It has a concave nose and tail a la Morrow Spoonnose from years past and zero camber, so it lays flat on the ground. The main difference between it and the banana from a tech perspective is that there's no "reverse camber" between the bindings. Burton focused primarily on the tip and tail, and left the camber flatbetween the bindings.

It is a hella fun ride. Total noodle so watch out (3 on the burton flex). But it was super fun. Way easy to butter, press, nollie, ollie, etc the coolest thing was that in the pow or on the sides of trails where you typically carve up a wall, there was this torsional give between the tip and tail that felt a lot like surfing. A lot like surfing, slashing a face or carving the wave. A few times I was pointing down the trail popping a wheelie the wholeway.

I wish I spent more time flatlanding with it, but the group that I rode with was all bout speed! It held an edge decently as you would expect for a park board, but it does not like ice, LOL.

All in all pretty friggin fun.

I don't doubt that the '09 capstraps are pretty similar to their basic capstraps, but I can't imagine that they give the same sort of grip or fit of the super capstraps. If the super capstraps are gone for good and this is the best they can do, I'm going to be pretty disappointed.

I agree completely. I would much rather rock the other captraps than the one's that they are coming out with.

Burton did this, because team riders, and other riders were removing the thing to hollow it out from the super cap strap.

There is a thread on burton message boards, and people who have done it say that it's better... lighter, same grip, same support, molds better, etc.

Yeah I am not feeling Burton's designs for 2009 either, yet. I didn't care for 2008 at first but I did start to warm up to the designs once I started seeing them on the mountain. I even think the Un.Inc is kinda funny and cool now...I hated it at first.

Bottom line, you will never be able to please everyone on graphic design so just make sure you are putting out a good product.

I do like the look of the Blender, pair that up with some Half Life pants and jacket and you will be able to "hypmotize" everyone on the mountain.

I see. I was thinking about burtons just because of those toe caps... Right now I have some technine bindings with the same type of toe caps (with the hole in the middle). I always thought the burton toe caps were MUCH better than the technine ones, and I doubt it changes the weight that much...

I'm not impressed with the whole naked chick theme. I liked the 07 uninc 156 with the naked chick cartoon, as well as 08 love. But actual picture of naked chicks on my board are too much to me.

That's not what I was talking about... I meant the graphics! They're hideous!

For a Vapor at least... Vapor's generally had smooth graphics that flowed and that..... thing.... is completely contradicting.

I don't mind the ICS at all really. It's just that even the T6 looks more like a Vapor should than the actual thing...
