well maybe not mad but moreso annoyed.  you go into a thread and all you see are the same messages.  no comments, no posts that are remotely relavent to the topic, filling the forums with garbage posts that normal members have to sort through to read about a subject.  that gets annoying.  and some people might get mad.

It's all very simple, there's too many "core" snowboarders that think snowboarding products should all be sold and only sold at retail unless you have a "broform" or a hook up from a "bruh."

are you kidding me? did you read the whole thing? have you seen how many times i have posted?
i believe this is the last contest for a while, could be wrong. and how many of these new ppl have stuck around on the forums for anything more than the contests?

i have spent a crapload of money here and i am not advertising about my bitchin' hook-ups for dog pile i can sell for a profit.

i love this store, i love this forum, but i am against this contest. i have told many of my friends about this place BEFORE they were doing contests.

depends on the agenda, you can advertise for profits/business, or you can advertise because of sheer respect and appreciation for the shop and you woud like to share that with others.. i favor the ladder..

i see your point in helping sierra advertise to win a free snowboard...it's a mix of the two... there are good and bad points, but no one is holding a gun to your head and telling you to do it, it's totally voluntary which is why some choose to do it and while others choose not to participate..

and let's not be naive. this contest benefits the store, much more than the handful of people that may win something, and that's why it's being done. having a free space for a forum with no outside advertising is nice for us all, but it is also a brilliant sales tactic. i don't blame them, i love being here, but i also have no illusions about it. you hang out in a tattoo shop long enough, you are bound to get a tattoo.


 
Isn't it obvious that its a marketing tactic?  My confusion stems from why your average person would be irritated. We are bombarded with advertisements/marketing in our culture at virtually every turn. The consumer (average person) stands to gain by way of finding something they want at a price they can agree with.
 
In a free society, people are free to spend their money as they please.

I frequent several forums that are relative to interests in my life. I have to say that by far, the snowboard forums are the most volatile. From personal flames to ethics, the snowboard forums definitely have more "spirited" responses, whether written or otherwise.
 
Anyone care to speculate as to why this condition exists?
