Author: cantbeyou
Subject: 22
Posted: Nov/15/2006 at 10:05am

Here is a really good board for those that want a good beginning board that will help you progess.

Features:
Lightspeed Vision Base: easy, low maintenance base that also allows for superior images.
Biax React Fiberglass: a relaxed fiberglass that will allow you to try bigger jumps and stomp those new tricks
Sidewall Construction
Negative Core Profile: thinner core in the middle and outside of the board which results in more flex making it a great park/freestyle board.
Fly Core: This is what sets apart Burton beginner boards from other companies. They still use their classic wood core, but it gets the job done. It improves board feel, flex and durability.
Dualzone EGD
Slightly Tapered Shape

               145 151 155 160
Effective Edge 1125 mm 1180 mm 1220 mm 1270 mm
Waist Width 244 mm 247 mm 250 mm 256 mm
Nose Width 287.1 mm 292.6 mm 297.7 mm 305.5 mm
Tail Width 284.1 mm 288.6 mm 292.7 mm 300.5 mm
Sidecut Depth 20.08 mm 21.8 mm 22.6 mm 23.5 mm
Sidecut Radius 7.02 m 7.33 m 7.58 m 7.93 m
Weight Range 75-125 lbs 90-140 lbs 120-170 lbs 140-200+ lb

Review from fellow rider 1: 4 of 5 stars
The Burton Clash is one of the lower end boards on the market, while still being a good enough quality to keep it off of the shelves at Wal Mart.

The board itself is classified as an all mountain board, like most beginner boards are and this is definitely a board that is a beginner board. The board allows a new snowboarder the ability to practice, hone their skills, and move up, but doesn't really offer the realistic challenge of snowboarding that a standard board would. This will obviously slow the rider's progression and when the rider is to change to a better board, it will probably be a very substantial change and it will feel almost like starting over completely.

This particular all mountain board is a decent freeride board, with good cutting edges, and a fairly lightweight frame so that you can glide down the hills at good learning speeds. This board is by no means a fast board, nor will you be able to keep up with your friends on this board without a lot of effort, but it does the job fairly well. The cornering is a little bit on the shaky side, but for the most part it still outperforms a lot of the more expensive boards in that arena.

The Clash is also fairly decent at freestyle, with enough spring to allow for tricks, and enough flex that you can handle virtually any trick with enough practice and skill. The unfortunate part is that the board isn't built to be able to really support a landing and you will feel every little bit of every trick that you perform. The landings are definitely a bit harsh,<
